I LOVE the Paplin fine slotted quilling tool and am so glad I ordered it even though I thought at the time "what do I need another quilling tool for??" | Comments: | I have been quilling since the early 80's . . . but did it in between raising my children and teaching first grade. Now that I am retired, I have more time to quill and I am loving every minute of it. I have had classes for fourth-sixth grade students in an after school program for about three years. The students love it. They have used your patterns to make an underwater scene, a farm scene, and a zoo scene. They have also completed several decorated ornaments for Christmas. Two of these students have continued quilling with me at my home . . . and they have involved their mom, also. The fifth grader made a lovely mirror for a friend. She quilled and husked a palm tree up the side of a large mirror and then added coconuts and monkeys (your pattern). Both girls are also dancers so they quilled the ballet shoes/dress and glued them on clear plastic picture frames for their dance teachers and assistants. They both quilled wedding frames for their aunt using the gown, tuxedo, veil, bouquet patterns. They are quite proud of themselves. I am certainly proud of the progress they have made. Now they are involving their sister (a kindergarten student)in quilling. We cut a slit in a half-inch dowel so she could use it for a quilling tool. We taught her how to fringe and roll paper into a flower. She then added a large bead in the middle to fill the hole. She added leaves and made a lovely mini bride's box for her aunt.
Hopefully, the school will continue the after school program this spring (money problems!). Many of the former quillers have asked if I was coming back because they want to quill again. Oh, yes, we all love the punches. They make quilling life so much easier! |

I look back on it now and wonder why it took me so long since it was rather plain and simple. I just made two quite fancy and complicated wedding quillings for my grandsons and for a background I used the material from my daughters'wedding dresses that I made. Also made one with animals announcing a great granddaughter! I can get more relaxation doing this all night than most nights sleeping. So happy I can order on line, what a time and energy saver not having to walk all over the stores. I just turned 80 and my ambition doesn't quite meet with walking very far!
