Here a new Dutch entry. Sorry, but I can't help you out on the origin of our family name. I only know that the suffix '-sen' means 'son of'. So I guess we're all a son of Denis (that's a French first name)??? Nice to read the clan stories on the bulletin boards! Just some short info on me: My grandfather, Harrie (Henricus) Denissen, was from Udenhout in The Netherlands. He went to live in Oisterwijk with his wife Jo(hanna) Verschuren. Unfortunately they're both not around anymore. They had 5 children: Jan (my father, Johannes Wilhelmus Maria, 1948, married to Mieke Smolders); Ton; Ad; Cisca and Annie. I have a brother named Dennis. Yeah, I know, Dennis Denissen... I was born on April 3rd 1975. Dennis was bron on December 27th 1977. | Comments: | I've always wondered where the spelling "Denissen" comes from, most people I know with this last name spell it Dennison or some other veriation. It is interesting to know that the name is Dutch! I actually am not "genetically" decended from the Denissen family as my great-grandfather who carried on the Denissen name was adopted- so I really don't know what my "true" ancestry is.

I'm Marc Denissen from Holland and I'm living in Ommen the most beautiful city of the Netherlands. I've 4 other brothers (two of them are on the Dutch pinboard) and I'm married. just logged on more or less by accident, having forgotten that my son Nicholas - who lives in Berlin, Germany - told me about the Denissen Website last year. Since I was born in green Bay, WI I was particularly intrigued by Amy Denissen's story, since I also can remember Ted and Pearl (at least I rembmber their names from my early childhood, in fact I rembmer an Aunt Pearl. I also recall that the first Denissen arrived in Green Bay in the early 1800's. Bye-bye for now. |

| Comments: | Hello fellow Denissens. I am a Denissen from Green Bay,
Wisconsin. I was told that my great grandfather, Ted, arrived in the United States as a young child and was adopted by the Denissen family. We know nothing about his adoption or where he came from. I have been unable, as of yet, to locate the names of the Denissens who adopted him. To my knowledge, Ted and his spouse, Pearl, lived in Green Bay. Ted and Pearl had nine children: Robert, Vernon, Cletus, Jerome, Maurice (my grandfather), Joyce, Marilyn, Mildred, and Mary Margaret. Ted's son, Maurice, married Jeanette Anzaloni. They had five children: Pam, Jane, Jerome (Jerry) (my father), Roberta (Robby), and Patricia (Patty). Jerry Denissen has two children: Amy (me) and Kari. |
