ALLIS 11 Feb 1855; 2) W. W. Sturtevant on 4 Dec 1858 in Delavan, Walworth, WI. I'm wondering if your William Warren STURTEVANT and my W. W. STURTEVANT could be the same person. In the Walworth County History, p. 725 there is mentioned a W. Warren STURTEVANT. I have an old note that there is a William Warren STURTEVANT b. 1818 VT listed in the 1870 Wisconsin Federal Census living in Delavan, WI which might confirm my suspicions. I have a poor photograph of Margaret's headstone (my Evid # 192-15) which states: Margaret Wife of W.W. STURTEVANT Died Dec 12, 1858 I am wondering why she would marry a man 13 years her senior and am curious as to how she died within the year she married. Her first husband, Alvin, died of "Billious Fever" (Evid Ltr# 16) or Typhoid Fever. Don't have her Death Cert. If you have anything which might help in this connection I would be grateful. response to my Wentworth enquiry. Its very nice and I was particularly impressed with the amount of source information you provided on your Rootsweb database. I followed the family from ancestor R. de Wynterwade through about 650 years. Unfortunately, thats where I found a discrepency with the info I was originally given. It would seem I probably have a generation or two to firm up with better sources before I can say that my ancestors connect to this particular line (although with a name like Wentworth at that time I would imagine it is fairly likely). I just finished reading your bio on the Pilchers. Imagine my surprise to find that Carl Lewis Pilcher had wandering eye. My dad also had that condition...I could have recognized the look from the photos. I have hundreds of pictures of the same look from baby to adulthood from my dad. Do you supose that it could be inherited or a tendency in families? We seem to also have retinal conditions. Otherwise I really loved the stories that made James and Stephen into real people. My family came from Eastern Europe and most of the records were destroyed during the war so it is very difficult to find out any information. I really enjoyed wandering around your site.
