Yes, it is a free country and freedom of speech, but I also do believe that you have to be carful what you say when you are in a position like she is. As for all the hubbub about Natalie Maines, give it a rest, all you Bushie nuts -- she's 24, a showbiz lady who wears her heart out on her sleeve like any good performer and country singer, and hey! She's as right as rain in whatever it was she said. This guy in office is an utter, absolute, unmitigated and complete disaster. I don't see how anyone else could not recognize that by now. Also, I think he really has a tremendous vicious streak in him, it is quite evident to me. And all those progressively elaborate tableaus his handlers place him in front of for the TV cameras, makes him a showbiz fella himself. All he needs is a a few scripted jokes, maybe a straw hat, a striped jacket, and a prop - a cane -- and maybe he could trade places with Natalie. I would not mind that at all. She would make a far better president. At the least, we would still have our rights and our civil liberties, including the right to critique our government, especially when it is making a total disaster area of our country as now. Are any Americans listening to the observations and warnings of long time U.S. Senator Robert "Harry" Byrd of West Virginia? The issue is not Natalie Maines or even Osama bin Laden or Saddam Hussein. The issue, in my mind, is this Bush fella and his presidency, and the damage has been tremendous, and continues daily. Wake up, America! It may already be too late to recover the country we had, back before this guy got elected (oh, excuse me: appointed by the Republican cronies in the U.S. Supreme Court, most of whom have never found a reason to decide in favor of some individual's case or rights, as against some corporation or government entity, the whole time they have "served" as judges!) |

I am a little shocked at your definition of "patriotism." It seems that you believe that everyone who agrees with Natalie is patriotic and those that do not are not really patriotic. Natalie just learned a hard lesson. One is responsible for one's actions and words. Being controversial isn't always positive and can sometimes hurt you. I, like you, am shocked at the language that people on both sides of this issue use and the personal attacks, but Natalie Maines started this by deciding she should speak her views. She shouldn't be surprised. |
