Hey,Sai King,
I've been reading your work since I was 13,I'm now 41.I've just finished the Dark Tower series a few months back and my God it was worth it.It took me six months to read all seven books but, I had the best time ever.I didn't even mind getting a D on my math exam. I know that sounds bad but, I was truly obsessed.I'm now reading the graphic novels by Robin Furth. No offense but I prefer your novels. Not because their bad or anything of the sort just that it flows easy, and you get good sense of the characters and the situation their in especially in the first graphic novel The Gunslinger Born. You never got a good impression of the relationship between Susan and Roland.Say Sorry. That's my opinion anyway.Sai King you are truly one the great writers. You have scared the HELL out of me many a days and made me laugh till I all most wet myself I know that's probably too much information, but it's the truth.Say Hello to your Cool Kitty.I know she saved your life many days. Long days and pleasent nights

I would like to say first of all that I am a #1 fan of Stephen King. My sister started me on reading King's books back when I was 17 years old. I am now 33 years old. I am the type of person that does not read much. But I will pick up a Stephen King book. Now that I have found the book of Joseph's (heart-shaped box) I will be reading this one next. Thanks for the enormously wonderful books.

Hi Stephen
I was born in '49' a lot of my childhood was a bit like yours, probably worse. Single mother, poor poor poor, but my imagination got me through it just fine. Betwee hitching a wagon to the bike, pretending it was a covered wagon, and drinking vinegar out of small glasses to mime the cowboy's faces as they drank liquor. I created many vingettes in the name of art (I thought). I wrote lots of stories over the years - none of them published - I want to get serious now. My husband bought your "Stephen King On Writing" for me last year. I loved it then, but life got in the way, as is its want. I have just finished reading it again. I laughed, cried, and was inspired all over again by yours and Tabitha's story. I think what has impacted me the most, is how normal and regular you two are, but how extraordinary your lives. I was almost done reading your book last night, I couldn't bring myself to do your exercise about the estranged husband and wife exercise, it was like someone standing over me telling me to poop, there was just no urge. But a strange thing happened during the night. I had this dream. I was in this house with a few Mexicans, when four shots rang out, we all ran into the back bathroom where a young woman, one of the family, was lying on the floor dead. It was not noticable where she was shot. Then we were all back in the living room again, and heard another car come back, four shots rang out again, in my dream they had come back to make sure she was dead by firing four shots into her head. Her head had become elongated because of the shots. We didn't look closely at the gore underneath on the floor. I'm not Mexican, have hardly had anything to do with them, besides the godfearing ones who lived beside us when we were kids (I live in Arizona), I had not watched any t.v. for quite some time, so it was nothing I had read or heard about. The funny thing about it, my husband and his brother are tramping around Mexico right now and I thought maybe I should write a book on coyotes. I'm thinking a quiet man, an author, wants to get away from an affair...divorce...by taking a trip to Mexico, so he can work on his book. He rents this little hacienda in Lake Chapala (that is where my husband and his brother are right now), near Guadalajara...anyway, this quiet man gets involved with a woman (she is in cahoots with the department of homeland security), who gets him involved with the dangerous coyotes. Maybe her maid - who is trying on the woman's clothes while she is gone, is the one who gets murdered instead of her. I thought this was so strange, for me anyway, I never dream of anything bazarre, unless it has been sugested by t.v., or news. Well. You and Tabitha have inspired me, let's see what comes of it? Sincerely, Rita Macdonald

Stephen King is my very favourite author and I think I have read everything he has written. It would be nice to think I haven't as then there would be something more of his to look forward to.
When I was in employment before I had my own business I would call in sick when a new book of his came out and would read it in 1 or 2 days and then go back to work. How naughty!

To Catherine, who posted the question below as to how the site got it's name. The title is a reference to Mr. King's novel The Stand whose dedication reads, "For my wife Tabitha: This dark chest of wonders." It seemed fitting for the site and its contents so it became the title. I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took the time to leave their mark here. It is certainly appreciated.

Hi,
I am writing from a website where fans of authors send requests to authors asking them to come to booksignings, lectures, informal chats, public speaking events, etc. I am wondering if any of you Stephen King fans out there would be interested in creating a petition asking Stephen King to make an appearance near you. For students and others interested in making $10 for writing up a well- worded petition to Stephen King, there is also a $100 reward if Stephen King actually makes a real appearance somewhere due to your efforts in crafting the online petition. In addition to being interested in the small stipend, the person selected to write the Stephen King appearance petition must have a genuine, strong personal interest in Stephen King's books, and in putting forth a 1+ hours of internet promotion (in chat rooms, etc.) to help gain support for the petition, and to attend the appearance if one happens. For more information, please contact me at patrick@alliedminds.com after reviewing http://authorfans.actionize.com/ Thanks

I am coming over from Spawn.com to let you know about this heavily promoted petition that is going round to tons of toy, horror, & Stephen King related sites on the net. The purpose of this petition is to try and get Mr. King to realize the huge fan base surrounding his characters & McFarlane Toys. The reason the petition is needed is because Mr. King has thus far refused to grant the rights to make his characters. Maybe he just doesn't realize the demand, or maybe he doesn't realize the quality of McFarlane's work.
Are you familiar with Movie Maniacs? Steve "the Victim" Hamady over at McFarlane Toys has even signed this petition and himself stated that if Mr. King were to loosen up a bet, then there would be some arrangements going on! I'm asking you to please put a link w/ short description up on your Stephen King website to help this cause. If you would like to know more about Todd McFarlane productions, just visit www.spawn.com Please link/sign at: http://www.123petitions.com/sign.cgi?id=carlsa@videotron.ca$ 2

Enjoyed reading the information on the King. You have
certainly done alot of homework. It is really amazing how his work is not taken much more seriously. The man is legend in his own time. He can rival Alfred Hitchock and Edgar Allan Poe right now. He seems to have the Midas touch and he deserves to be recognized more. I don't really think most people, especially those who do not understand the "macabre" see how much Stephen puts into his stories. No one who has ever read most of his works or only one story, can ever forget the plot or characters. Look at The Stand, Carrie, and the infamous Cujo. I had goosebumps around St.Bernard's for awhile myself. Anyone, no more editoralizing. Glad to find so many others who admire and appreciate the King. How could I get an autographed or just a picture of the King. You can Email me the info. Thanks again. I'll continure to visit these sites. I'm glad you're here.

Hey, I just wanted to say that I enjoyed your site
thoroughly. Great job. Keep it up. Don't go to my sight if you don't want to be disappointed. It kinda sucks in comparison--simply because I didn't really know a whole lot about making a Web page at the time. Take care.
