Just love the bio's of your cats. I have enjoyed their company for many years with only two cats. The first called Kever (slur for a Navajo saying of "Cat of many colors". She came into our lives as a stray found by somebody else. She had crawled into an engine compartment and well, her tail did not survive. But she did, she came to us in 1974 at 2 years old and stayed with us until 1990 when she passed away. The second was a MASSIVE orange tabby named "Morris". Being of hispanic decent, we named him promptly "Maurico". At 28! lbs he was a little overweight. But upon putting him on a diet of both healthy (and regulated) food as well a family love, he trim down to a svelt 23lbs. Still a big boy, but an ever loving big kid with a even bigger heart. I envy you because my soon to be wife is very allergic to cats. I upon time to time get a nice few minutes to enjoy their company. Take it easy and don't work too hard. -Jason

I know we didnt end our friendship on a pleasant note but reading your blog lately has really been interesting and I am sorry you are going through all of this. I'm the worst to give advice about men, but truly what I see here is what I had with Roger. And I'd hate to see anybody go through what I went through. It was the same unpredictable always not knowing what to expect and manipulation that made me feel like a child. I would definately GET OUT and just date this guy. IF you even want to do that! The cat stuff will only get worse, imo. Everything that bothered Roger at the beginning got worse and worse and I became more and more to blame for everything. Its not healthy. Please dont hate me for writing in here. I'm honestly just trying to shed some light for you.

Donna, I just read about your hit and run. How dreadful! But perhaps you can take comfort in the fact that it could have been so much worse. Yet, the reason I was compelled to contact you was to urge you to redouble your efforts to prosecute this shit-stain. (Excuse my French, but this kind of stuff really annoys me.) The main reason is that first of all, he exhibited signs of violence toward you. Fortunately, you had your car window rolled up and doors locked (good girl!). Yet the chickenshit bucked and ran at the mention of the word "police." I bet it's because he's got a bucketload of warrants out for his arrest. So he's probably broken the law in the past and will continue to do so unless someone stops him. This person may be you. I sure hope you have the patience and perseverance to see this thing through. It may have been just a fender-bender that he had with you. Next time, it may be a kid on a bicycle or someone crossing the street. And I'd be willing to bet my next paycheck that when you do catch up to this guy, you'll probably find that he has no insurance OR driver's license. At least one of them! Donna: I am impressed by the quality of the introspective comments in your Aug 20th entry. You don't put other people down but instead explain why you feel the way you do and question why the situation affects you as it does. As I read, I asked myself the questions you raised. After all, we have all been there. I have. Thank You Lady for being a brave, kind, old soul. I appreciate your approach to life's problems. It is on a higher note and I like that because that is the way I WANT to be.

I was scared to death of women when I was in high school, but I suppose I might be considered "bold" or at least "flirtatious" today. I like women, and I'm not afraid of them at all anymore. I can handle rejection, too. I learned that lesson the hard way, but whatthefuck? Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If I were 10 years younger and 5 inches taller, I might find my way to DC and look you up. Hell, I might do that anyway, just to have some good company for dinner. It ain't all about sex, ya know?

I was looking through the pictures and cannot find any good shots of your old hair. You should do a before and after and name the offending Salon with all the costs listed under the pictures or better yet, that takeoff on the ad by Jamie. I understand how you feel. It is a crime in this country for a woman not to look the way men and the beauty industry want women to look. And the consequences are very tangible. Women who are not "attractive" earn less money regardless of education; their ideas are ignored or derided; and they can feel the unsaid disapproval constantly directed at them by others and many times people actually feel free to criticize your appearance right to your face. As if life isn't hard enough we have to deal with the fashion police. So put all that on top of being in the competitive workplace and meat market dating scene and straws can depress and enrage. Why? Because of the feeling of powerlessness. It reminds us of how easily we can be destroyed every time we take a chance or do something different-it tells us that the world is too hostile to allow us to risk anything. We have to pay big for every mistake. And then blame ourselves for not knowing better. We suspect we are powerless to make things the way we want them to be. When something reminds us of this, our defenses collapse. This is especially true when you are single and totally responsible financially for yourself and your dependents. You want to believe if you just control things and youself, you will proceed to upgrade your life and things will get better and better. And this is really important because you have to pay the bills. And then out of left field someone cripples you. And saying other people have worse problems is just a snotty comment. So what? The point of trying so hard is so that we can have a better life.

Donna, I hope I didn't anger you overly, to extreme, unforgivable maximums in my rant about "on-line dating etiquette." I just didn't like the holier-than-thou tone of the dipshit's demands. I am lonely and I don't have a lot of opportunities to meet available women in what I do for a living. I've considered on-line dating myself. Hell, maybe I'll get lucky and find someone I really like. Maybe not. But it beats staying home and landscaping my crackerbox house every weekend, which is what I do now. I'm not opposed to the concept of taking a chance on the net. I'm opposed to some jerk setting RULES that I disagree with. Would you date a guy who called himself ACIDMAN? Probably not, because it sounds like a really hippy, idiot of a guy. I believe that you know where I hatched that name. I may be an idiot, but I am NOT a hippy. I just know that I have a lot to offer to a woman in my life and I hope that I find the right one someday. If I don't, then I don't. But if I never try, I'll never know. So, go for it, Donna. Donna, They found they guy who turned the snakeheads loose in the pond. They were aquarium fish that grew large and he got tired of feeding them. So, he did the PETA-inspired, big-hearted gesture of returning them to the wild. They are not "Frankenfish." Donna, I really wish you had a "comments" box on your posts. I would like to direct specific remarks to a specific post when I read it and the muse speaks. I have a short attention span and sometimes I forget what I wanted to say by the time I get to the comments part of your guestbook. I believe that happened to me just now. I LOVE Harpers' Ferry. My Mum used to take us there all the time. Not necessarily Lex, I don't think a pre-pubecent teen boy is that keen, but my friend Diana would go with us. We'd go at least once a year. I miss it.

I believe I wrote that appallingly Harlequin-romance piece about my ideal partner because you planted the seed. I read your ruminations about "The Kiss" and that started me thinking, which is a dangerous thing for me to do. I started my blog under a pseudonym because I knew I would write a lot of personal, guard-down posts on it. I wasn't certain I wanted people who knew me to read that stuff. Yeah, I was writing behind a mask of my own in the beginning. I don't worry much about that now. I've been given too many intimate glimpses into the lives of people I probably never will meet face to face to remain defensive. Great entries, this weekend ! I especially like the bullying gals. I need to put this in my blog, but when Lex and I were in British schools, it was the worst bullying I ever saw. I had skinhead girls after me, and even girls who "befriended me," doing some awful things. Oh, boy, I do need to write all of these stories out ! But, I have to admit, I am not at all suspicious of too many people. I don't protect myself, nor to I feel the need to do so. I can learn, well, just not to be around certain people.
