He had to stop working 8 months ago due to his illness. He needs on hand care with Medication, Bathing, getting something to eat, getting into bed, getting to appointments with the doctors, doing dishes, cleaning the house, and the list goes on. We have been doing the best we can, but at this point we now really need financial help. The aflac is running out and the bills are pilling up. I can not leave him alone, so I am unable to work to pay these bills. I am worried that we may not have the means to pay for his medications, some of his medications even with insurance they are $100.00 a piece which helps because they are normally $4000.00 and that would be a month. That is just one prescription. He is on 9 different types for different things. We have bills such as electricity, car payment with is not much to some but big to us at $160.00 a month, groceries, gas, rent, and just not sure what to do.
I really need help! Thank you for taking the time.
I will keep up my prayers and keep my faith that this shall to pass.

I am proudly a Mother of eight children. I have a 10 year old daughter with a rare syndrome, she is multi-handicapped.
I have been desperatly trying to find a school that she can excel at and could be the best she can be. Any recommendations would be so welcomed.
June 29th, 2007 my husband had a traumatic accident which severely injured his legs. While at work he was on the back on a semi-truck and fell, the driver unaware he was there ran over him. A very emotional summer we are just glad he is here.
Our daughter is able to get a power chair. We are in the process of trying to locate a electric chair or scooter for my husband. We have an older van with a rusted out axle about to break. We are in desperate need to locate a van with a ramp or lift to help transport.
Any resources or information that anyone can direct me to would be so greatly appreciated.

This is my story the first of our problems started with my son he was only three weeks old and got RSV, nuephmonia, bronchitis.Took him to the emergency room and they life flighted him to a hospital that had pediatric ICU.He has suffered a learing disability from that, and other health issues with asthma,teeth problems, and vision. He needs braces.HE is 13 almost 14 now. Then we escalated to my husband he has had two back surgerys and still has major back issues He is on pain management with a Doctor and has to take pain pills just to work, but he does he is a good provider. HE is self employed with his brother they are painters. They took over their dads painting business when he had died at the age of 52 with colon cancer. My husband was involved in a car accident that he was not at fault and it had blown two of his disc out and he had one herniated disc that was going to paralize him so he had the surgery done. Well the people that had hit our car only had liability so we had to file bancruptcy by a lawyers recondmendation. We did not really see much out of that settlement. So now our credit is totally shot. I was a stay at home mom during all this time, all of this had taken place , because I had two young children and a 6 month old baby. I had to go and work with my cousin doing yard work because I could make more with him than I could working fast food. I was the soul provider for two years. Wich I did'nt make what my husband would have if he was able to work. So we really struggled. We have moved on like I said my husband works and has to be on pain management just to be able to work. We are out of pocket all his medical because we do not have health insurance. We encounter a new problem when my daughter was 7, and she was diagnosed with severe progresive juevenile scoliosis. She was fine through the summer had no signs of scoliosis and then in December is when I found it her her spine was clear over to her right shoulder blade. She had her first surgery when she was 8. Which her first surgery was in September 2006. She has to have surgery every 4 to 6 months for expansion on a growing rod that is in her back. well we have had a lot of bumps in the road with her not every thing has went smooth. We about lost her in surgery on June 14th 2007, just a month ago.In result of that they had to take the rod out because they had to get her out of distress and they could not leave it loose in her. She is going to have another surgery to replace the rod in August or September. She is being tested for muscular dystrophy, and Marfans Syndrome. She has a lot of other health issues also. We are in cramped quaters in our house. It is 1000 sq. ft., We only have one bathroom which is tough with 5 of us, very small kitchen which is our dining room also. My teenage boys share a bedroom.We have a very small living room. We would like to sell our house and build a new house, but our problem there is we have already taken a second out on our home to help with bills and it is not set in a locked in intrest rate, and we can not do anything about it because of our bad credit from the bancruptcy. Our house payment keeps going up every 6 months. My mother-in-law has land for us to build on, but we don't have the credit to get a constuction loan. If anyone finds it in their heart to help us we would be so greatful and appreciative. That is my kid's and our dream to give them a bigger house. I would like my boys for next few years while they are still at home to be able to enjoy a bigger home and to at least remember the last few years that way. We have worked very hard for everything we have, I am not trying to complain but I have a dream that just is out is out of my control to fullfill it. Now we are in need my son needs eye surgery and general surgery to go in and have a look at his stomach to see if the surgery he had due to acid reflux is working. Is there anyone out there who can help us?! My child was born 3 months premature and weighed 1lb and 14 oz. He has been through so many surgeries we have stopped counting. There is no way we can do it on our own. Is there help out there for us? Can someone help us find a solution? We are hardworking people who try and make the best of any situation. This is our child and he deserves the proper help to grow and be a productive adult and that can not happen if we can not get the services he needs to correct his problems now and in the future.

I am 32 female and have a very loving caring heart. I give to everyone and that is why I get into trouble. Giving is always better than receining and if you can help someone out in need, it always comes back 10 fold to you. I am a very successful girl but my manic episodes have taken me to a very bad spending spree. I have so much energy and it seems so right at the time until your mood drops. I have spent 3000.00 in 1 month on my husbands credit card and he is going to kill me when he finds out. I spent 700.00 of it at walgreens. I packed up everything in my car and are going to see if they will take some of it back. It is really embarrasing. II hate my ups and downs and I have been rapid cycling lately. In the meantime, I have cut up everyone of my credit cards and handed over the bills. This summer, I had 70,000 work done to our home that we built 3 years ago, this was just another eisode, after these incidents, I checked myself into the hospital for help and my family intervined to help me hand over the finances. If there is any help that anyone can help with to help to try to get a very nice person out of trouble, so that I can focus on getting better, I would thank you dearly and God will pay you back in his own ways. I am on the road to recovery. I am not involved in alcohol, drugs etc...If you seen me, you would never know I had these Issues, I a a very intelligent, beautiful girl with 2 young beautiful daughters. I am tired of hiding and just want to put the past behind me and move on. Mental illness is not fun in any way and I would do anything to live a normal life again. Comments: My son fell of his bike last year and a week later we were to meet with a neurologist, that we had waited 6mths for the appointment. My son was diagnosed with complex partial seizures ( a step below a gran mal). Our family doctors office didn't send the paperwork for financial help, after 3 calls to their office we learned that they would no longer be serving us or any of our family members. We already have a lien on our home from the hospital and the family doctors office is about to do the same. Our credit is horrible and we don't have any more equity in our home to help. I cry everyday knowing that my son only has 4 refills of his medication left and I don't know what to do??? If there is anyone out there that can help, I feel so scared.

I do have a job, but a few weeks ago, the college I used to attend took my whole payroll check out of my bank account. I don't know how they found it, but they did, and now I can't get back out of this hole they dug me into. I need $317 to pay my rent, and about $600 to pay back money I had to borrow when they took my money.
I have bad credit because of my soon-to-be ex husband, who was also abusive. I have four children, and no vehicle.
Does anyone know where I can get some kind of temporary help? My state assistance office won't help.

My name is linda. I am 45 years old. I have been disabled for three years. I have lost a kidney and continue to have kidney problems,plus Lupus. I have been the sole parant of three since the age of 21. My youngest child Brian has Autism. My two older children have moved out of the state of south carolina and living thier lives. I worry so much about Brian and what will he do when I am no longer around. Where will he live. My son and I do not have a place to call Home. I have a Elderly Mother that lives in a small house on one and a half Acres of Land. She gave a piece of the Land to me to put a Modular Home on it so that my son and I will have a place to call home. When I am no Longer around, Brian is cappable of living on his own with a little assistance. That will give me a great peace of mind. I receive small SSI payments per month. no where near enough to get a Modular Home. I am in great need of assistant from someone who can direct me on where I need to turn for help. Or someone who will donate a used Modular Home so that my Son Brian and I will have a place to call Home.

My epilepsy got worse when I began working at Ryan's Steakhouse in '95; I had never run a salad bar. However, at least the managers worked with me. I had 23 grandmals seizures there within 5 years and returned after a two-year absence during which I worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken.
I had a couselor at Commission for the Blind whom for 7 years didni't do his job, then I got another.
I also couldn't accomplish anything in college.
I may be able to accomplish something at Commission for the Blind now; the clients and I are going to governor's office about how the teachers aren't doing their jobs---just sending people who are slow at learning the Call Center program home. I love the work.
Well, I want to be able to hold down the job so I can stay on my own and keep the apartment in Section 8 in Greenville or Columbia. Should I move to Greenville, I need to know all the resources of transportation since it's smaller. I would like to start in Greenville since it's closer to my hometown.
My parents, former assistant principal and cousnelor at high schools, won't help me; they use my disabilities to keep me stuck here---acting as if there's no hope. The two have seen disabiled people with good jobs: Stevie Woonder, Teddy Pendergrass,Ray Charles, Chris Reeves, and Ronnie Milsep are among them and are in worse shape than I.
Had Lewis Braille had my parents for his own, Braille would only be a surname.

All of the doctors he has seen has said he could not work or go to school, because of his mental condition. I applied for his disability in July of 2005. In October 2005 he was denied. Of course I appealed their decision. So far we have not heard anything back from them. I have gotten a lawyer for the case so that he can go ahead and be reviewing the case so if he is turned down again the lawyer is prepared for court. I knew it would be hard to get his disability, but like many of you have said medical bills can be overwhelming. We have no type of health insurance or insurance for his medicine. His medicine alone for a one week prescription is $300. There is no way anyone can afford that unless of course you are rich. I also have medical problems that I have to take medicine for and drive two hours to the doctor, because there is not a doctor around here that specials in the female problems that I have. If he is able to get his SSI then he will have medicaid, but I am still stuck with no insurance. Because of my medical history it is almost impossible to find insurance that I can afford on what I make. My income is all we have to pay bills, rent, and support his two children. He has a 3 yr old and 2 yr old. They are both precious and we want more, but I don't see it happening, one because we can't afford more and two because I have a very slim chance of being able to become pregnant. Oh well sorry I just spilled our problems to the world, but I know there are people out there with alot worse problems and are alot worse off. She (Grace) had a stroke in utero. We were not sure what to expect at birth. She survived and has brought us so much happiness. She is now 2 years old. She has had 3 neurosurgeries for hydrocephalus/shunt related concerns. She recieves speech, occupational and physical therapy each week. My husband and I both work and therfore do not qualify for any income based services. We have insurance, but co-payments are becoming a challenge. We recently moved into a new home that has a swimming pool because water therapy is helpful for Grace. However, before we had a chance to use the pool it caved in over the winter last year. My husband and several friends put in a new pool, but now our credit has become a financial burden. We had to use credit cards to pay for the pool. We may have to downsize to a smaller home and cut out some therapy to make ends meet. We have 2 other children in the home as well. I have been denied SSI, Medicaid etc. Anyone have any suggestions on funding for Medical expenses or to help pay the credit expenses for the swiming pool??

I worked for Royal Crown Cola as a Route Salesman. I worked there almost twenty. I fell and hurt my neck and right shoulder. I had to have right shoulder fusion. So I lost my job. After six months in a half body cast I went to work as a Route carrier for the Tennessean Newspaper. I worked there almost two years. One nite while I was going in I steped on a strap that was used to bundle up newspapers that someone had droped that day. It hooked my feet and I fell onto a sidewalk and shattered the radious head in my left elbow. So I lost that job. I had a good friend that taught GED classes. He talked me into going back to school and get my GED. I got my GED and he help me get a job with the Sheriffs Department here in Dickson County where I live. I worked there almost five years. Well one nite I hurt my back while tring to restrain a inmate that had tried to kill himself. So I had to have three Spinal Fusions on my lower back. So now I am in a power wheelchair. The check that I get for being Disable pays my house payment and the utlies. My wifes check buys food and stuff for our house. I really need a Van with a wheelchair lift. But I cannot afford one. It takes every penny that we make to pay our bills. Right now I am on Medicare and Tenn Care. But after the first of the year I will lose my Tenn Care. My Tenn Care pays for my medications and for my rides with Mid Cumberland to and from my doctors appointments. So I don't know what I will do after the first of the year. Could you tell me how to get a Grant or money to help me buy a Van with a wheelchair lift. I have been tring to get a job with the State of Tennessee so that I might better myself and get some Insurance for my familey and myself. I ran away from home when I was twelve from Fla. and came up here to Tennessee and worked on a farm that my Aunt and Uncle ran. So I don't have a lot of schooling or job training. He has suffered from it for many years. He has had his knee and hip both replaced because of it. I met him just after he had his surgery and he was a completely different person then what he is now. He is hating life right now. He is always in pain. He has just recently gained alot of weight because of the medication they put him on and it has totally depressed him. All he wants to do is go home and go to sleep at 7 o'clock at night because he is so depressed and he hurts so much. Its hard to find the right words to tell him. I think he just needs to talk to someone who is going through this or a professional or something. I'm really worried and I don't know what to do. Please help!

Even with insurance the surgurys needed were very costly. I worked for 6 years with my disabilities. In 2003 finally after fighting to get va compensation for 8 years I got it. But with the time with no income for 2 years bills stocked up. Now we need a home to change things to help with my disabilities. But our credit is poor because of our past. The va doesnt help and dont care to help. There are many more veterans in the same boat as I. I need to get a company that deals with morgages but works with bad credit.

I am having terrible seizures and am trying to get on SSI but it has already been six months and I was told after my psychologist that it would take him 2 months to get the report in and 2-3 more months before the board would decide if I get SSI and insurance.
I am currenlty not working because I can't and my mother is paying my bills but really doesn't want to continue -- is very upset that I have not gotten on SSI as of yet. She is blaming the doctors, therapist. But they have done all they could. It is just up to SSI. Like I said I have not insurance. And I need to get help to pay all my stay at the hospital in Great Falls for tests.

I'm been having a difficult time walking for a number of years. Finally, my rheumatologist and my internal medicine doctors convinced me that I needed a motorized wheel chair. My insurance company paid for the wheel chair, but will not pay for the lift, which I need to be able to get out of the house to run errands...grocery shopping, church, Dr's appointments,
picking up prescriptions, etc. Can you tell me the names of any organizations, foundations, or private individuals that assist people like me. I'm on an extremely limited income...at times being forced to decide which medicines I'll do without that month. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. I injured my back in th US Navy in 1976. I tried to retun to work for many years continuing to have problems and pain with my back. I saw many doctors and was told not to use my back. I tried to tell myself that nothing was wrong with me but continued to lose time from work when pain was too intense. I finally retrained my self in Forestry and Wildlife Parks and Rec Management to do a job that did not require my back. After aprox 6 years attempting to obtain full time work with US and State Parks, they only hired me part time with no benefits. One day I woke up and decided to try other states begining with Florida. I decided to volunteer and then apply for full time. Finally they hired me accomadating my back disabilty..WOW "" Finally a Real job, with insurance, I could go to the doctor again, buy new clothes again, be a REAL Person again and actually afford to go to the movies. I loved my job"" Then had neck injury, and operation of same. I thought they offered me a Promotion due to my disabilty so I took it. But now find out it was a long process and plan to terminate me. I was terminated because I could not lift 50 lbs. STRANGE SINCE I WAS HIRED UNDER THE PRETENSE. Now disabled, unemployed, depressed, and trying to find work or a way to survive. Any Ideas? I want to be a Productive Citizen Again.

Hello, my name is Derrick Brent.I am 20 years old man and I live in Denton Texas with Two fimaly members that are sick.(you see the problams above) I am going of to another college in December and they need help paying bills, food, and Just liveing a good life. They try to provide for the family but the goverment checks they get in the maill are just not enough for all the payments they have to make. For all the things my parents went through and are going throuth,I don't think it is fare for them not to be happy as they reach the climax of their live journeys. I have constant back pain, take very large amounts of pain medications just to attempt to control the pain. Little things such as going to the restroom, taking a shower, driving etc set off my pain so badly i get tears running down my face. I am i desparate need of overhead lifts in my home, I also need an assistive animal as sometimes I am home alone and cant do simple tasks on my own. I need some sort of funding to help me 1 get an assistive animal, 2 get the medical equipment I desparately need and my insurance company will not pay for. I have depleted all of my resources trying to stay ahead of my disability, yet it wasnt enough. My family has been of great help and have also depleted their sources of monies helping me as well. Can someone please guide me to an agency that will help me Acquire overhead lifts, adjustable beds, and an assistive animal. Please help as I cant continue to go thru what I am currently going through, I am under phsyciatric treatment for severe clinical depression due to the levels of pain that I go through. My name is Janette and I have a learning disability and panic attaks as well as allergies. All my life have struggled with school work and other things. And it has been very hard for me. I have been married for almost three years and that has been hard to. My husband is wonderful but I have trouble keeping things in order around the house. I get so overwhelmed that I don't know were to start. And it makes me feel bad to ask for help from him because he works hard and needs a break to. All I have ever really wanted was to be more normal than Iam.
I tried working after high school but the only job I was qualified for was working at McDonalds flipping hamburgers. I tried to go to college but that did'nt work either. I try hard but it seems like I get know where.
I don't know why I'm this way the only thing I'm really good at it praying and scrapbooking. I hope someday that people will start treating people with learning disability's better and not make fun them but help them help them selves.

I would like help with food but food stamps only offers 9-10 dollars a mo. I came to this web site intending to ask for help or information for help but after reading all the other letters before me I would only prey for information, and the others truly find the help they need and deserve.I feel the american way is lost forever. There is no easy way for either the elderly or the disabled to survive in this world. And money is ufortunately the root of all our problems. Oh, for a return to the simpler days when a family could depend upon the land and a neighbor to help during hard times.
I would like to earn a living and no longer require the assistance from the government. While the government plays a valuable role in the case of my husband and myself, I was raised in a atmosphere of independence and responsibility with a very strong work ethic.
As strange as it would seem I would like to resume my legal studies but obviously lack the means and the ability to complete a traditional study program. There are several programs that would allow me to study on line to acquire the required degrees and apply to take the bar exam, most likely in another state, as as I understand Utah would not recognize the degrees. One School is Concord law School (Kaplan college or Northwestern University of California) and the other a London University sponsored course based in Atlanta, Georgia. Another is William Howard Taft University which offers correspondence study in law.
I am leaning toward William Howard Taft at the present time but have done nothing at this time to apply as I lack the means and would not want to start a project I would be unable to finish.

I have been told that I need to divorce my husband of 15 years and then I can get some help from the State. That is if I do not own more than $4,000 of personal property.(cash, car, clothes, washer/dryer, beds, etc.) Does anyone here know of anyway that I can get help to cover the hospital bills for the hip replacements. I also need my gall bladder removed.
I do have disablity health coverage, but being 36 years old I can not afford the $2,000-4,000 yearly premeans to add the additional coverage that would 'pick up' the charges that Medicare will not cover.

through medicaid. I have seen a few advertisements for it, but after calling, they had no idea of what I was talking about, which equals NO SERVICE, except for extractions !
Please call or send government news of how bad we need oral healthcare for the elderly and disabled !? I would also recommend EasterSeals.org to alot of those listed here. They have contacts for legislation being passed right now, and tommorrow too. It's never too late to speak your mind !

He graduated from high school last May. He has always used a manual wheelchair because we were told if he used a power chair "it would make him lazy". That is what his physical therapist used to say. He had such a hard time in school. Now that he is out, he finally got his power chair. I don't know why I did not get it for him before? He has the independance to go about the house without having to crawl. It makes me want to cry. Medicaid of NC paid for the chair, all $10,000 of it. The only problem is, we dont have a vehicle to put it in. Our credit is so bad we just cannot get approved for a new or used van, plus we just cannot afford it. Is there an organization that will help me to get a van so my son can finally start living?

The tumor was removed, but he required radation to his brain. Since receiving radiation treatments he has developed severe Epilepsy. I have lots of nerve damage to my arms and my legs Comments: I have worked for Royal Crown Cola for almost twenty years. I fell and busted up my right shoulder. The doctors had to fuse my right shoulder. So I lost my job. I went to work with the Tennessean Newspaper. I was a route carrier. I was going in late one nite and got my feet tangled up in some bands that they use to bundle up the papers. I fell and busted up my left elbow. I was in the Hosptial for two weeks for that. So I lost my job there. After I got well I went to work for the Sheriffs Department here in Dickson County. I worker there almost three years. I hurt my back tring to restrain a inmate that had tried to kill himself. So I had three spinial fusions over a the next three years. I can't stand long or walk very far. I am in a power wheelchair. I am on disabilty and it takes all of my check to pay my bills. I need a mini van with a wheelchair lift so that I can go places like the store or walmart of church.

harassing my daughter since he moved in. Today, Dec. 24, 2003 my daughter fell. The manager's
boyfriend, Gary, came up and pounded on her door and started swearing and yelling at her
because when she fell she made a loud noise. He swore at her and told her that the next time
she made a noise she was going to be in big trouble. My daughter has CP and her right arm and
leg do not function do to the CP. She does her best but she has no control over her left leg giving
out and falling.
She has been waiting for a year for a lower apartment. Can anything be done to stop this
harassment from the manager's boyfriend so that she can live there. There is very limited
housing in this area for low-income people plus the disability she must live with.

He was healthy before he went over there. But when he came back........he just wasn't the same man that I had married. He is very depressed, and just not happy. He has tried to commit suicide 4-5 times in the past 5 years. He is just an unhealthy adult. I wanted to find anyone else who went over after the war that came back with severe medical problems. I have been reading up on the Gulf War Syndrome and I have not seen anything mensioned about any of the illnesses that he has. work. My brother recently suffers from tennis elbow, because of the repetive motion required for this work. He also was repeatively hit by another clients wheelchair . We
have insisted that he not work, and for the workers to watch
him for abuse. They insist that he is not being hit by the wheelchair,and that they have no other program besides the
work format. Please if there is anyone out there that can help. We are at our wits end. I have tried to contact local
and state athorities no one seems to care.

I have spoken to professors in the history department there, and they have said they would be pleased to have me as a student in their department.
