While in parts of africa the term 'extinct in the wild' refers to any population below 1000 in the wild across the world (as below this it cannot be thought of as being genetically viable) I do not believe that this is how you are using the term. You quote a poaching rate of one tiger a day, this is a vast simplification and as far as figures i have looked at way over estimate. Even taking your figures as 100% correct, your idea that tigers will be extinct in the wild by 2010 is totally incorrect. You quote numbers in the thousands (in teh world) and a poaching rate of one a day) while this is terrible it puts total extinction far further in the future. Hesteria will not help there cause at all, and incorrect assessments will mean that people will not take you seriously. One thingthat would help woudl be for america to deal with there terrible pet trade figures, and force all tigers kept as pets rather than in good zoos (and for that matter other wild animals eg chimpanzees) to be sent back to there country of origin to be reintroduced to the wild. It is a disgusting fact that there are more bengal tigers in america than in india
