| Comments: | I just wanted to say that Dokken is the GREATEST BAND in the world. I grew up in Hollywood and saw dokken at the palladium with Keel and I was blown away. Grew my hair long, got a drumset and started playing. The best times of my life were in the 80's and I think i'm still recovering from that hangover. Neverthleess, This band has gotten me trough sad times, happy times, and the songs have given me hope about the future. As long and Don and the boys keep putting out records I will be listening to their kick ASS music. Don, Stick to your guns like you always have and keep the Rokken with Dokken message alive. I started to listen to you guys in about 1984, when I heard the "Into the Fire" on the radio. I was at work (at Pizza Inn) and I told a fellow worker of mine that that song had something special about it. I always was the sort to be drawn to good guitar solos, and that song and many many others that George did were exceptional. I grew up a Ted Nugent admirer, and play a little myself, but I don't think I can do what George can on the guitar. One comment: I instantly loved your solo LP "Up From The Ashes", and have recommended that one to many online acquaintances thru Napster and such. John is so very talented. I kick myself for not knowing more of his stuff with Europe. | Comments: | Hi Don, I wanted to thank you for sharing the Poems/lyrics with us.. I can’t wait for the new Dokken album, or your solo cd for that matter. I have been a long and devoted listener of our times, since “Tooth-and-Nail” was released. Dokken is a large part of my life, It is the soundtrack and background music if you will. There is something mental, and spiritual when one enjoys a certain artist(s) or music at a higher lever. This high was reached on the album Dysfunctional. It is a sad, sad, time for Rock and Roll at this time, I mean when we have Britney Spears, and The Backstreet Boys credited as having the best selling albums of the year, something has to be done… Rock is not Dead, it is just dormant, yes it will take 20 Nirvanas to hit the stage and kill all of the hip-hop, corporate crap… I am so looking forward to the new cd, as you can see fustration is swelling up…. We need to bring Arena Rock back, and give Rock the credit it deserves here in the U.S. I think it is sad that bands like Megadeth, Slayer, Iron Maiden , have to load up their gear and tour South America because they cant get much support in the us, and my very good friend from Japan ( who brings me all the Dokken import goodies) tells me that Dokken is HUGE, HUGE, in Japan….. We need to support Rock here in the US as well….. I would love to see Dokken play an arena, and have them Sell The whole thing out….. Maybe when we get rid of all those boy bands, |

Did you have to take vocal classes to develop your style of voice, or were you born with it. I have been singing since 2nd grade, and am amazed at how well you can stretch out such high notes. Your voice inspires me Don. It inspires me so much, that I have trained my voice to wail just like yours. I was very impressed with "Erase The Slate" and I have been very eager to hear new material. Especially now that John has joined the group. My friend and I, back in the 80's, were only two out of millions of amateur rockers, just learning our chopps (my bud on guitar and me on bass). Some of the most invigorating times we had, was when we'd crank out your music on a boom-box, down in the basement, and just close our eyes and pretend we were sitting in with the Dokken band for a song or two, imagining the thousands of people, and the lights, and VOLUME, and for me (oddly) even the smells of a smokey concert arena filled with lots of hot girls everywhere. Now time has passed, and life is different, but when I play that Dokken in my car's CD player, it's almost like time-warping back. Thanks so much! |
