Comments:Don,
Great music over the years! Enjoy all of your works. Stumbled on this site one day curious of some Lyrics for one song or two of yours. Read your poetry page, I was moved by "A grain of sand" and "What course should the Heart take" I'm serious when I say I can relate. I've been wandering myself for the past few years wondering what life has instore for me. So many questions. I know I'm not the only one. I met some one that means more than life to me. She has inspired me to write, something I've never done for any woman. I can only hope she is in the answers to my questions. That is why your poems moved me when I read them. I think they describe the way I feel. I hope things worked out well for you. OK enough of that, I'm not nuts, I just understand. Some of my favorite stuff of yours is "Alone Again" (go figure) and all the song on "Up from the Ashes" awesome stuff!! Keep it up looking forward to the future for you and you band. a Fan Brian.

So to Don Dokken I'd like to say "Hi!, nice to meet you, I just ADORE you!!!!! Your voice is a musical drug that gets me high."

i've noticed a lot of rock stars have gon into theater.
Paul Stanley of Kiss did the phantom of the opera.
I was wondering if you have ever thought of doing theater?
you would make a far better Phantom than Paul Stanley.
you have the voice that would be perfect for the phantom.
infact with a voice like yours it should be in theater.

well, just to let you know, if you ever done so, I don't know about the rest of your fans, but I sure would be one of your fans that would come see you in the phantom.

I'm doing my best to find one particular track. Probably most fans know it as "Live to rock (Rock to live)" on the Breakin'the Chains Album (Elektra, but I would love to hear the original "We're illegal" as it was called with completely different vocals on the Carrere lp version. I loved that album, it really grew on me. Can anybody tell me how it became Live to rock,

Comments:Don,

I've been a HUGE fans of yours since I was in high school (just a 'few' years ago!) While my friends were listening to Whitney Houston or some other lame ass pop group ... I was absolutely nuts about your music! I am pretty sure I was the only one on my cheerleading squad (I know, gay! - but I was 16 at the time) and later, in my freshman dorm at college - with a Dokken poster on my wall and the Dokken VHS on my Christmas list! To this day, I still run/work out to your music from time to time.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know how much I love your music and what a huge fan I am of yours. (I really like your art, too)

Best wishes for your new album and hope to catch you on tour if you roll through Ohio.

Trish

PS Also, good luck with that resolution on falling in love this year! I laughed out loud when I read that - who knew rock gods had the same problems meeting good people as the rest of us?? :-)

Beautiful poetry... If only the world had no eyes... I also write and am sending a few to share with you.
The Reward
If you don't water the flowers, they will never grow.
If you don't open your eyes, you will always be in darkness
If you don't take the first step, you will never learn to walk.
If you don't nurture the pain, you will never heal.
If you don't tell someone how you feel, they will never know.
If you don't take the risk, you will never reap the reward...
3-3-1996

In The Dead of Winter
As a flower in the fall of it's life, I withered and died
My seeds fell to the ground and before the winds could sweep them away forever I was covered in a blanket of snow
In the dead of winter I lay dormant and motionless-
Wondering, Would I again one day be able to open my petals and bloom
Prepared I was to sleep forever- then the sun smiled down upon me and a gentle rain caressed my soul
I stood up and took a breath of the sweetest scent I had ever known
I am alive again- and in what I thought would be the deadest of all winters you made my heart feel like spring...
2-11-1996

I've learned that your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you. Thank you Don. Darlene

Comments:Dear Don,

I cannot express in words how excited I am for your new CD to come out on the shelves. I have been loving your music for 20 years now and I still can't get enough! It will be so great to hear your new material and that soulful, beautiful voice that sends me into another dimension everytime I hear it!!

Just wanted to say thank you also for posting recent pics of your gorgeous children....that boy of yours is the mirror image of you!! Maybe we will all get to hear your daughter play a little piano on one of your albums someday! I think it is so wonderful of you to share parts of your personal life with your fans.

One last thing I would like to mention is your comment about your goal for finding love this year. Don, I can't imagine that you don't have women falling down at your feet like you mentioned...but then again...if you do, it is probably for all the wrong reasons in their hearts. God bless you Don; and believe me, you will find the right one for you. It will happen, when you least expect it. When you are not looking, love will find you. I wish you all the best. You deserve it.

Love, Tracy

Please honer a plain and simple truth and then take it to heart, when it comes to your spiritual life, please remember that all faiths, religions, new age, etc. are demonic and eternaly dead , they all lead to the second death, revelation 20:13,14 - 21:8 , the lake of fire 4ever! *JESUS CHRIST is the only truth this world has, found in the holy bible, HE is and was and always will be GOD , the basics are that GOD became a man , all humanity is headed for hell and your only way of escape is to believe that, then cry out to Christ 4 a new birth jn 3:3,7 , Be a believer Don!,a love message says this , Jesus Crist once left heaven for earth to be killed , he will do it again to kill, Are you ready? Please Don,dont be fooled by the god of this world the devil 2cor 4:3,4
the god of buddism is a demon , the god of the musilms is a demon , the gods of hinduism is a demon , the god of the mormons is a demon , the god of the j.w., is a demon , and every other religion that rejects christ as God in human flesh , there all demonic! , and the catholic system of salvation leads souls to hell,Mel Gibson is ignorant of the true gospel, he believes the pope, the pope is a deciever , he is blind , Mels movie was incomplete in that there was no warning about hell and false religion. this message comes from a space of love, with your best interest in mind and is ment to proclaim truth , those who indifferent to this truth have a problem with there creator Jesus Christ not me. from Eric , the end. p.s. Sorry to hear about the lost songs the got ruined and as a result did not appear on "long way home" none the less, songs from your solo project that you decided to add to replace the lost songs like "Good by my friend" is one of those songs that will never die, that song really hit home with me as Ive experienced a loss of my best old friend Liana , your Awesome!!!,what do you think Don?,how about the latest from boston, track 1. "I had a really good time"? *take heed Don, and .....CARRY ON!

but Don do you ever have one of those nights when no matter how hard you try to accomplish something there's a million things blocking your way? how do you deal with such things?I truly admire the ambition you have after all these years...
I just got back from band rehersal and it was awful nothing was meshing at all, but one plus in a way.... i came up with this song/poem what ever you want to call it.. and i wanted to share it... hope ya don't mind
.........................................
As The winter chill came
i felt my heart stop,
no more shall i see your face
the stars in your eyes
fade slowly with time
you never said goodbye
now all that remains
is the sound of your voice
echoing deep inside my head.
Where and when will it be
when I get you out of my mind?
can't believe what has happened.
You walked away with part of my dream
where were you heading?
Left me standing beside myself
you never said goodbye.
...........................
Why is it the heartache thats makes for some of the best songs and poems?

Just thought i would drop a line to say hi and to thank you for all the awesome music you have released over the years.
I live in Mundaring, Western Australia and although i know that i will probably never see you guys live i still live in hope that you may break through with "world domination" on the next album and get the chance to show everybody down here what they are missing! I am finding it hard to get the new japan dvd over here, however my local record store has been great with supplying me with your back catalogue which mind you is the second time round for me as i have worn out my original copies! Anyway good luck with the new album and i wish you all the best for the future. Its great to see the good times coming back to the industry.
cheers mate,
andrew haigh.
ps live from the sun is a masterpiece, i was blown away!
Its great to see a great band from the 80s that is still producing decent material and not milking the nostalgia scene, some of those bands are a joke!

Comments:Alright Don,
You say the next CD will be like Tooth and Nail. I hope so. By the way, hard rock/metal never died. Why, I think Rikki Rackman summed it up well.
- In the early 90's several hark rock and metal bands broke up, Dokken, Ratt..., and there were other bands who lost key members, Winger, Motley Crue... Around that time there was nobody to carry the hard rock torch, and head bangers ball could only play what was left from these new bands that sucked really bad. Grunge started to come up, and although it was touted as the replacement for metal and hard rock, the record sales were never able to prove that.

Comments:Hey Don, I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for creating the music back in the 80's that got me playing guitar back then. Dokken was my main influence. I have been in one band and even played live once. It would have never happened if i didn't have great influences like Dokken, Poison, Helix, etc. Keep up the great work. Maybe more young kids will get interested in music and stay out of trouble. I still practice the old classics like "It's not love","Dream Warriors","In My Dreams",etc. My dream would be a jam session but I'm sure you've never heard that before huh? lol Take care and continue pumping out the tunes.

I just read a poem of yours titled "A GRAIN OF SAND"
My interpretation of it, you are a person who looks more
to the past than into the future (I do too). You question
the events that have happened in your life. You are a lover
of the ocean(I am too). Don last time I got to see you & the rest of Dokken was at the New Haven coliseum & at Toads Place.
I wish you peace&love. Please give my love to the rest of the

Me well Dokken was my choice. I must say that the music of Dokken brings back fuzzy memories growing up and finding out who Misty was I love the ladies, and well I have found that some of the power ballads Dokken has recorded in the past have a great flare of being good if not fantastic for what some would call "Make-out" sessions... I remember me and Beth sitting in the screened in porch we created our on Fort type thing for privacy and we would have my "boom-box" and playing would be Just Got Lucky and we would be wrestling about and though I was 12 she was 11 something happened and well we ended up kissing just a quick kiss then our eyes meet and bam we have our first lingering kiss and I must say Don thank you for setting the stage for what I would end up doing in the future. Though I have had my fare share of heartbreak, but I must say that as long as your music lives on I will never be truely "Alone Again". Thank you Don you are truely a one of a kind artist.

Just a quick line to say that we need to see you in England. We're swamped with boy and girl bands, and noone plays their instruments for real anymore. I lament the day metal was ditched by the music industry. They sold us out big style, with shite like nirvanna.

I am 41 years young and I enjoy listening to your music and
I just LOVE your voice. I can relate to alot of your poetry, especially now since I have my new found freedom. I read that your daughter plays piano. Awesome! I love the piano and have a deep appreciation for classical music as well as rock. Do you ever listen to classical music? Try listening to Baroque. (Bach, Albinoni, Veracini, Vivaldi). The symmetry of Baroque music is very relaxing.
Take care of yourself and God bless you. Ciao! Lisa T.

Comments:just wanted to let you know my son who is know turning 21 in october just bought me you new release hell to pay and he also replaced me up from the ashes cd that between mine and his use was worn past playablity i also have all the other cd's from dokken well anyways i had read somewhere that don you where not to pleased with the wya up from the ashes came out just wondering if that was becuase that it didn't get much airtime or what cuase in my opinion up from the ashes was the bets work i've heard dont get me wrong although dokken erase the slate and of course hay to play which by the way has not been out of my cd player since i got it are in fact some of dokken's best yet and i'm sure there will still be more to come from dokken but back to your solo up from the ashes yes there are many other band who split up for what ever reasons but who never get the right stuff again for whatever reason together but i have to say as far as you solo cd it was a very fine piece by far my best dokken , don dokken, from the lead to the drums, bass, rythum, to the all around sole and atmosphere of the songs the best so keep up the exccelent work and looking foward to more great music from not only dokken but some more don dokken as well thanks for all the years of great pure rock and roll your greatest fan

On your DVD "LIVE from the sun" you play a song while the Credits roll. I thought that song would be on your new CD, unfortunately it's not. Can you list on this site if it is availabe? I love that song!
Thanks :)
