I don't know if I have contacted you before or not. Either way, it looks like we probably have several Abernathy/Abernethy folks as kin-in-common. I also have quite few Honeycutt folks on my tree, via my Dad's mother (Virgie Anne Honeycutt, she married Ivey Lee Abernathy -- they lived, died, and are buried in Asheville, NC). Just read your posting on Franklin Abernethy. I am 82 years old and grew up in Matthews NC and spent many hours at Uncle Frank's and Aunt Annie's farm. Looks like you have done a good job on listing his history. All the children are correct. HIs daughter, Ruth married a Bennett and lived in SC for a long time, but I lost touch. The first memories of my adopted Mom is of a 50 year old lady, and I grew up hearing stories of her young life on the Rev. John Wesley Abernethy, her father's farm. You mentioned that your parents were Lawrence and Mariam Brittain. After Lawrence and Mariam divorced in the 70's, He remarried my mother. He is also my father. We are brother and sister. He died in 1989. I am also researching our family tree but still in the beginning phases. If I am correct, you also have a sister named Deborah (Debbie). Missed an opportunity to get to know you growing up but its never to late. The Brittains have never fit snuggly into my mothers family reunions nor have I. I need to reunite and pass down my Brittain Family name with history to my children. Any other links or info on Lawrence Brittain, his brothers and sisters, the orphanage where he grew up, his parents, or family tree would be appreciated.
