Comments:We were blessed to grow up fancy free in Dormont, where the park and pool were our playgrounds.

Walking to Isley's on a hot summer day for a skyscraper double cone or a steaming cup of hot chocolate on snowdays, riding the streetcar downtown to stroll around (without adult supervision!) were common occurences.

Miss those days...

Comments:wonderful to see the site again! I regret its been awhile. Happened to call Texas for customer service issue and happened to speak to "Ginger" a former Dormont resident about 5 yrs ago!! she fondly recalled living on West Liberty Ave , Campiti's and the general wonderful atmosphere that she dearly misses. She was so enthusiastic with our conversation that I invited her to look up Dormont Historical Society and browse!! Are you out there, Ginger?? We'd love to hear from YOU!

Will check back later. I invariably run into people that lived in Dormont and recall with detail aspects of our community we love so much! In fact, a gentleman who now lives in Kauai Hawaii - owns a popular specialty hot dog shoppe- lived in Dormont! originally from Penn Hills- he recalled with detail "walking up the street around the corner to the trolley" while he lived near Mattern Av in Dormont! His shoppe appeared on the Food Network last year.
Amazing that "the small world" revolves around Dormont!!

Comments:Oh my gosh! I just saw Phyllis Hamilton's name listed as leading a walking tour of Dormont. She was the most amazing social studies teacher! I just finished reading Johnny Tremain to my 11 year old and couldn't help but think fondly of her. She read that book to our 5th grade class (in 1971 or 72 maybe?), and it has always remained one of my favorites. She was so good at bringing dry topics to life. I hope she is doing well.

Being from out of town, are my chances of winning the Mustang greater than if I still lived there?
