Comments:Great website. I was hoping to find the name of the short story that Ray wrote (I think) about a couple who are struggling in their marriage. The wife states she is not the same person she once was and must move on to find a man better suited. He responds ultimately by stating that over the last years every molecule in his body has been replaced, so he is no longer the man he once was and has evolved into the man she is looking for. Any help in finding the name of the short story would be helpful. I think I read it in an airline magazine a few years ago.

Comments:Hello, I just stumbled across your web site. I was interested in started a Bradbury project of some sort so I was doing research. I grew up in Waukegan and I still live about 30 minutes away.

Other than Jack Benny, Bradbury was our celebrity growing up. We had fundraisers, literary clubs, awards, etc. with Bradbury themes and an occassional visit from Mr. Bradbury.

Green Town is obviously not the same but there are still relics that can be pictured. The "ravine" is in a park so it's preserved.

I don't want to leave my email because of those effed up sex toys ads.

Comments:I think you are too young to remember me. I graduated from Waukegan High in 1951. I participated in basketball, track, cross country. I, also played in the band under Otto Graham.

Waukegan is my home, but, I went into the army during the Korean conflict and never lived after the 2 year military service. After the military, I spent many years in Chicago, New York and now Georgia. I retired from IBM in 1988, but remaind active.

My sister Betty and I have a not-for-profit organization in Waukegan servicing seniors in the area. The both of us are in great shape and we want to help seniors to remain active and remain in their own homes. We provide cmpanionship, and other homemaking services. We know that life can be better for seniors, if they maintain an active schedule.

You should make a tax deductible contribution to 1st SeniorSolutions, Inc. If you decide to make the contrition, send it 1st SeniorSolutions, 938 Saybrook Circle, Lilburn, GA 30047. I am the CFO of the organization, which I handle on-line.

Betty Christmas is the President of the mid-west region.
She has been working with seniors for over 40 years. The seniors she work with were rich (lived down the line) and they could afford the service. Betty's thoughts were: Why can't the poor and minorities get the same service? That is our goal to get the sevice to the under represented seniors.

It is sad about Jerry.

If you want my help with anything just let know.

Comments:Just curious what this Ray Bradbury 'stink' over the Michael Moore film is all about anyway?! Since when does Mr. Bradbury OWN the word "Fahrenheit"? It's used all the time, and I doubt that there's a copyright on such a word. Pathetic excuse to get publicity, Mr. Bradbury!!! Behave yourself, or we'll force you to have dinner at the White House with George Bush and his thugs. What??? You don't like Jello?
Sincerely.

Comments:Mr. Bradbury derailed my life....and I'll be forever grateful. At a bookfair in the 7th grade, I was selecting 'Hound of the Baskervilles' when my English teacher took me aside and snatched the book from me. Almost conspiratorially, he slipped a copy of 'Dandelion Wine' in my hands and whispered, 'You'll get a lot more out of this!' I still think he was a Bradbury agent.

The day I cracked the cover of that little gem, it was as if every door and window in my brain shattered, and a gust of clean ocean air blasted me full in the face. I had found a wonderful place to be myself, a place to explore the attic of my soul. Nothing could be the same, ever again.

Since then, I've invited my nightmares to dinner, horrified and flabbergasted my teachers and friends, alienated my classmates, and enjoyed the strange new world that was around me and inside me all at once. I've not simply read as much Bradbury as I could; I've dined on it, ingested it, and let it become part of me.

Poetic imagery aside, Ray's work just resonates with me, opens up doorways to other worlds and dimensions (dimentias?) that I had previously scolded myself for entertaining. Now I scold myself when I haven't written anything creative in a while.

I've had the pleasure and honor of a very brief correspondence with Mr. Bradbury, eons ago, when I was in high school. Instead of sending me a stock photo of himself with a scrawled signature, he WROTE BACK. Real words, real sentiments. Real gratitude for my reading and appreciating his work. Ray is a marvelous writer, a master at giving the reins to his imagination. He is not perfect; I don't love everything he has written, and that makes him even more real.

My family and I are planning to move cross-country this fall, from Vermont to California; I'm hoping we can swing out of the way just enough to visit Waukegan, the Greentown of 'Dandelion Wine'. Must remember to bring my journal...

I've been trying to find out the name of one of his short stories I recall reading in highschool. It was about a house that went on living after the people died, it made food for them, etc,. I beleive there were the silhouettes of children and a ball on the outside of the house as well. Any ideas what this story was?

Comments:Good site, but Bradbury's best short story collection --- by far --- is 'The Golden Apples of the Sun'. Many of thesse stories ravished me & posessed me for quite some time. Incidentally, if you like this type of material, let me recommend another author who will probably delight you: John Collier. Find his short stories.

Darabont Warms Up Fahrenheit

Writer/director Frank Darabont (The Green Mile) told SCI FI Wire that he will direct Fahrenheit 451, a movie based on Ray Bradbury's novel of the same name, as his next project for Castle Rock. Mel Gibson will still be involved, but only as a producer, not a star, Darabont said in an interview. "Icon [Gibson's company] and Castle Rock are kind of getting together on this, and Mel's been really sweet about letting me come and overtake the project," Darabont said. "He's just been really supportive. So, Mel, if you're out there, bless your heart. He's a sweet man."

Darabont said that he was also adapting Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles, but said that 451 is his main focus now. "Actually, I should be home right now writing," he joked. "Hopefully, I'll have that done this year."
