Your review of the concert:Only one thing to say.... FANTASTIC

Compared to the 95 Roskilde performance this was way
better. It was wonderful to see the obvious joy the band
took in playing at this years festival. It was according to
Robert a very important concert for the band - and they did
their job to perfection. The sound was good through the
hole concert, which is very rare for orange stage..
BRILLIANT

Your review of the concert:It was no surprise that The Cure would appear again. When
the Roskilde gig was announced in April, everybody was
happy and ecstatic. Saying they would play ”only one show
this summer” even may mean that there could be even more
appearances this year. After some struggle with planning
according to the long awaited decision to release one day
tickets for sunday, everybody was happy to see The Cure
again. It was very nice to see so many fellows again and
get to know others. Any speculations about the setlist were
given up, when Adagio For Strings was played, this time
accompanied by tiny purple lamps on the bottom of the
stage.
It was a great moment when The Cure entered the stage after
not having seen them for one year (this is a wide range of
time, more for the band than for us). After the Adagio
ended, it started once again and was simply cut by
somebody, to let Out of This World begin.
What I liked very much is that compared with the Werchter
Festival concert last year, The Cure appeared and played in
a much more relaxed condition, not seeming to be so much
under pressure and in a hurry like in Werchter, what had an
impact on both the band’s and the audiences mood.
It turned out to become another Dream Tour standard
setlist, compared with the one in Belgium and Brisbane,
only with slight changes in the main set like playing Trust
very early and omitting several Bloodflowers songs. But
Trust at that time was a positive surprise, I liked Shake
Dog Shake although there seemed to be some problems with
the drums.
The first real strike was, yes, what else, The Kiss. Apart
from the fact that it is an unbelievable great song, since
the Dream Tour a rarity on stage and live played, the song
almost seems to be even more intense, it was for the first
time played nearly without any guitar effects, just a weak,
nearly unrecognizable wah-wah, a raw guitar sound, almost
acoustic. So there was the occasion to see how unbelievable
the sheer music is, and, as I managed to get into the first
row, almost in front of Robert, I could see his fingers and
how difficult it is to play.
There was a new synthesizer effect in End, which I liked
very much. What was amazing in One Hundred Years was that
when it came to the line ”It feels like a hundred years”,
Robert blew himself up like a frog and seemed to load
himself with electricity, then screaming the line in a high
tune.
The pop encore was not necessary and hopefully not
promoting a new singles album. A Forest was short and again
with a weak keyboard (why can’t they simply change the
intro sound at least). But that was all right, and when
Robert finally stepped forward to say goodbye, making a
gesture like hugging and wanting to eat up everybody, it
was an adequate finish of the show. There was no song that
was new for me, rarely played or a surprise, but that was
all right.
Sometimes I was not sure whether the measures to improve
security were so efficient. To get into the stage area, one
had to queue up during the Patti Smith (Mrs. Smith)
concert, and when the finally let the people in, the
pushing was very hard in comparison to other concerts, and
a fence with at least one person broke down. Inside the
area, one was not allowed to walk fast, and 5 minutes
before the concert, there were only two handfuls of 1,70
mtr tall security people standing in front of the stage. I
don’t know if they were enough to cope with a panic, if
there would have been another one. And there were a lot of
drunk people, so I felt more endangered like in other
concerts.

Your review of the concert:Hello,

It was great, we had to wait for a year but coming back for this concert is brilliant!!!
The show was very good and very strong. It's a shame they can only play for 2 hours but you know that at festivals.
Some songs were played very good.I have read some reviews on the holy hour site from somebody from the Chinese art and German girls he didn't liked the setlist and was very dissapointed.I am getting sick of such fools who are only happy when Faith and Pornography is played.
We also hoped for faith but it was a good show. If you compare this show with the 1995 festivals you should be happy. We fans should be happy they played at Roskilde and that they are making a new album.
And they are getting better by the day I think, end was played so well. And the Kiss was so intense very agressive.
I have seen the cure for 22 times now but this was the best Kiss version I have ever seen!!!!!

Bye,

Your review of the concert:Hi dear Alls,

I'm still paralyzed. It was great. I waited about 6 hours on the left side to get a good place in the pit. And I got it. I stood in the first rank and had a fee view to the stage. The show was great and Robert was in a good mood. He looked perfect and the setlist was brilliant. A big thank to the group that they came to Roskilde and gave this perfect evening to us....
Hope to see you all next year again

Your review of the concert:I can tell that I was very impatient to see The Cure again. I didn’t even hesitate to go to Roskilde by car, and I found that driving 13hrs was ok. So, the first thing that impressed me was how clean Denmark was. I arrived on the festival site on Sunday morning, bought my one-day pass, and got inside the festival area. My first intention was to locate the orange stage, where The Cure had to play at 10pm. There already were fans waiting there at 11am !

A fans-meeting was organized at 2pm, and I of course went there. I met several cool fans, and being part of that community, even for a afternoon only was really pleasant. I thank here all the guys I met there for having made that sunny afternoon so pleasant and fun (Thanks to Sheryl, Stefan, Dennis, Stephane, Nico, Marie, Stephanie, Chris, and all those guys from Finland, and all those who I forgot the names…).

We all moved before Patti Smith's concert started to wait in line in front of the fences. I decided to go on the right part of the stage (in front of Simon & Perry). So the long wait started, and having to listen to Patti Smith reading peotry doesn’t help…So finally, after she covered pearl Jam's alive (in memory of the people who dies last year during Pearl Jam's set), she left the stage, and the fans were allowed to get inside the pit.

Once again, long wait, and finally, the first notes of that Adagio came…The atmosphere was really quiet, but I felt that people had waited too long to see the Cure there in Denmark...The band finally showed up. Robert was dressed with some sort of dark reddish suit. Simon had his hair cut, and was wearing a white towel on his belt.

The show started like a normal Dream Tour show : Out of this world, Watching me fall, Want, Fascination Street & Open…The backing tape stopped during the intro of Want, and had to be restarted. It surprised a lot of people who didn’t know that the band used such things…The very first surprise was Trust. Robert said something like a change of mood, so I suppose that it was not in the original tracklist. The show went on…From the edge…with Robert still staring at the stars when he sings looking at he floor…, and a real high peak was the Kiss. It was really intense and aggressive, and that song is really perfect when they play live…

The main set stopped with the usual Dream tour songs : End, 100 years, 39 & Bloodflowers. All the songs were played perfectly, and Robert seemed to be really happy to be there.

The first (and last encore) was really poppy, with JLH and Inbetween days, and was definitely too short. Anyway, I cannot complain : they played 2 hours of an intense and beautiful show, and even if the audience was really quiet (once again comparing to the French audience), it was a perfect day in Roskilde, with a brilliant - but short - performance by The Cure…

Your review of the concert:Finally, THE CURE came back to us :-)

It was a great show!! Lot of lights and Robert, like the
rest of a band, was in a good mood.

Before the concert started, it was told from the stage,
that The Cure only came back to the Roskilde Festival 2001
to pay their respects because of the terrible accident at
the festival last year. A BIG thank you to THE CURE for
coming back to us!

It was also told from the stage, that The Cure IS in the
studio recording a new album. So it is true! There has been
a lot of rumors about a new album or not, and the Roskilde
Festival confirmed that it is true that they are recording
in the studio. GREAT!! At the end of the show Robert said
something like this: "see you again in Denmark"! Therefore
I hope for more concerts in the future!

The setlist was a "Dreamtour 2000" setlist ...almost!
Because the concert only lasted two hours, there was some
numbers we didn´t get that mostly was played at the
Dreamtour 2000. I know that concerts at festivals is not as
long as on a real tour, but we really missed numbers like
THE FIGUREHEAD, DISINTEGRATION and PRAYERS FOR RAIN ! I had
also hoped for the real long version of FAITH that was
played at some of the Dreamtour 2000 concerts.

But there were highlights! Some of my favorites at the
concert was: THE KISS, OPEN, END, WANT, ONE HUNDRED YEARS
and, ofcause, BLOODFLOWERS!

All in all a great concert ... I just wish it would had
lasted a hour longer!
