Richard Marino and his family lived in the apartment next to ours in Rochester for a couple of years when he was in his early teens. I was in grammar school. Frank, Lena, Richard and Bunny were very good to our widowed mother, my sister, and me. When Richard and his sister Bunny (Theresa) weren't able to personally protect me from bullies on the streets, they would let me take their boxer dog, Sharkey, with me. When Frank died, Lena, Richard, and Bunny moved away and we lost all contact. I learned about Richard's legal difficulties in the newspapers over the years. When I saw the photo of Richard and Sammy G. in your book, I was hoping you would mention something about him. Did you take the photo? Was he a friend? I have always hoped that he was still a good guy in the end. If you aren't too busy to answer, I would appreciate an email telling me anything you may know. Thank you. I lived on the eastside, went to East High School and was brought back to that time with the pages of your book. I've been to most of those clubs but knew to keep my mouth shut when there. When I got to know your life I was amazed how Ms' White/Black could rotate between getting you into trouble and then come and protect you. I greatly appreciate how you were able to succeed in the wake of the situations that life presented to you. I suspect that your mom and dad said a few novenas to St Jude just in case. Again thanks for the memories. I hope your penning a new book.

Would like to know if you have written another book as you mentioned that in "The Company she keeps" I relate to the abuse that I received from my husband in 1964 and there was no help and learned not to bother calling police they were of no help. I am hoping that yu, amid all yoour fanfare, actually get in to this site and read your entries! I have just finished reading your book The Company she keeps and am rereading varius sections It is spellbinding, amazing, distressing and enlightening! There are so many angles and tings goingo that many don't know or understand! I have gone through some very rough times the last 10 12 years and am at loss as to why for most of it, a person I loved and believed in turned mean, unpredictale, devious and lying he gotinvolved withthe SUbway Franchice and from that point on became a totally different, uncaring, indifferent, nasty, untruthful, sneaky person..we are nolonger together but life has been more than difficult for me since our split...My aginMOm has had many problems and is now in her second nursing home having been mysteriously injured broken wrists, hips, pelvis in the others, inspite of my vigilant visits and stays....and pleas for help from many elderly oversight agencies and police departments... my neighbor up the street lost her son, William Billy Smolinski, jr. he has been Mysteriously missing for over 4 Plus years ...with so many questions and loopholes... please see http://www.justice4billy.com .. I have strongly suggested your book to his MOM to read so she may understand the events better I firmly believe MOB involvement in his dissappearance and still not being able to find him/his remains,...He was a kind, caring, help everyone type of guy who got involved in a political triangle he didn't know about....His family and friends are bravely and dedicately striving to make good come out of bad and make differences for all those with missing family members..it is a very scary but real phennomena across our country -over 135,000 missing/unaccounted for as we speak.... You may understand a darker side of this than many do.... thanks for writing such an honest upfront story it helps others who are struggling, fighting for their truth, their justices, their lives and rights..... She is also a person who has gone throug quite a lot- se was abused, tortured and kept captive by her husband also had a story in March 208's readers Digest and has a web site also.... I have spoken with her personally she is kind and caring also.....and Ann Rule Ann is another dedicated, hard working writer she wrote the book about Ted Bundy A Stranger Beside me - The problem is.. Many of us have forgotten about TedBundy and the events/situatins that may have contributed to his MONSTER development....How can we let this happen? I have to start by saying what a truly amazing book!!! I am very very picky about the books I read and have trouble finding books that keep my interest. I have never ever read a book so great!! It is the best book I have ever read, and I don’t think I will find one that can top it! I read this book in 2 days and could not peel myself from the pages. You are an incredibly women and I found myself drawn to you; I think we have very similar personality’s and wills (VERY STRONG). I felt as if I were going through all of these steps of your life with you! And couldn’t help think for a brief second “what a great ‘story’ but then I catch myself and think it’s NOT a story it actually happened!!!” You are a wonderful inspiration to any person, never mind women. I sincerely hope that this will turn into a movie! Thank you for sharing your heartfelt story and if you can’t feel motivated and inspired to the core after reading this book you never will! Ps when are you and Frankie finally going to get together!?!?!?! Your killing me over here! He sounds and LOOKS like an amazing man and a great human being! In fact, I usually do not read much, however, after reading your book, I seem to not be able to put it down and I keep going back for more. I am only at the chapter where that awful Steve guy starts calling you again, after you and Al tried getting rid of him. I guess right now I am confused as to how you would allow this Joe guy to do all the mean horrific things he did to you when all along you had poor Toni living with you. I finally thought the abuse and Joe were gone for good and that life was looking better for you and Toni and then you meet this Steve character. I can only say I hope this book gets better, as when I read it it makes me mad and I feel like you are a friend or daughter that I want to reach out to and say CMON!!!!! ENOUGH!!! But I am no one to judge you as I only know you from the book. I am hoping to complete your book very soon. Maybe then I will understand some of why you stayed so long with Joe and the horrible things he did to you. The book to me gets kinda graffic from the early rape with your sisters husband to even Joe raping you at times, and I just so wish that never had to happen to you. No one should ever have to go thru what you did. Your book is very good and very intriguing, but also very sad too. So far anyway. Thanks for sharing . |

I read alot of non-fiction books, but by far your book is one of the best that I have ever read.It absolutely pulled me in. At times I felt like I was in your home watching these things unfold. Thanks for allowing me to look into your most tragic and wonderful life. Also, I noticed Frankie in about six of your photos on the photo page. A couple of them look recent, are the two of you still close? In reading the book it seemed like you two had such a close bond, and he sure was a cutie. My name is Peter Costello (yes i know my name ends with a vowel!) Im sure you dont remember but a few years ago you were talking with a local radio host in my hometown of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, and I called in to win an autographed copy of your book by correctly identifying the Mazda Miata you drove in a commercial stint. I wish I would have exchanged more words with you because after I read your book I was fascinated with your entire world. It saddened me to read some of the tragic events of your life and how you positively transpired to overcome. The thing is, with all the fascinating things that happended to you and the never ending battle with Georgia Black/White, do these things still happen to you? I was just curious after reading your book for the fourth time, haha. Anyways, I've had an interest in a professional driving career and I was wondering if you could provide me with some information regarding the best schooling for such a career path. I've read up on some schools and the magazine Road & Track had an issue identifying some top schools. The problem i found was that it was all two-week courses merely for pleasure than anything else and i was looking for something more in depth. I feel I have a knac for driving and with my farm backround, I can drive almost anything and I have found I can push some not-so-everyday vehichles to certain limits which only someone with talent could do. My children have witnessed such horrific things beyond my control as I could not prodict what was in front of me.I have been told I have rheumatoid arthiritis, and I can't alway's see a way forward but readying the things you have been through gives me a little bit of hope.I am in hiding from my childrens father and at christmas we will be looking over our shoulders.It is noway to live especialy for such young children.I wish I could find an answer to all my problems and find a way out to make my children feel save, but I guess that is not possible whilst we live in the UK.
