My wife and I just returned from Boston, MA ans beautiful Newburyport, MA We had the good fortune of finding both houses that my great-great and great-great great grandfathers built in Newburyport. (See Also: Benjamin Dutton of Newburyport, MA. The owners of both homes allowed us to tour the homes, and they are wonderful! We took several photos as well. I found more info regarding my great grandfather, George Edwin Dutton. | Comments: | William Henry Dutton was born Mar.1789, in Mass. He died 27 July 1851, in Bullock co.GA. He married Mary Ann Wilson of NC on 12 Jan. 1818 in Bullock co. In some old information, it is believed that Henry Dutton and a group of men came from Boston, to help rebuild the city of Savannah, GA, which had been burned by the Torries in the Revolution. Most of these men were carpenters. Most of these men died of a Yellow Fever epidemic, but Henry Dutton and a Mr. Judson Atwood survived and H. Dutton settled near the Ogeechee River, in Bullock co. GA.
In another account it is suggested that Henry Dutton came from Boston with his brother Samuel Dutton, Seth Williams,Aaron Williams. It is believed that Samuel returned to Mass. | Comments: | William Henry Dutton was born Mar.1789, in Mass. He died 27 July 1851, in Bullock co.GA. He married Mary Ann Wilson of NC on 12 Jan. 1818 in Bullock co. In some old information, it is believed that Henry Dutton and a group of men came from Boston, to help rebuild the city of Savannah, GA, which had been burned by the Torries in the Revolution. Most of these men were carpenters. Most of these men died of a Yellow Fever epidemic, but Henry Dutton and a Mr. Judson Atwood survived and H. Dutton settled near the Ogeechee River, in Bullock co. GA.

His father was James Arthur Dutton,born in the late 1800's deceased 1969. He was from Tuscaloosa County , Alabama, and not much more to granddads background in genealogy, can be found. His original Dutton family is a mystery, for some reason. It seems a secret for some unexplainable reason, from aunts and uncles. He was married approximately three times. One wife burried at Fort Benning Georgia Cemetary, died of possible suicide of taking a caustic soda type substance, on Meritas Drive in Columbus, Georgia. His third wife, my granny, was Lola Mae Barrentine Dutton, of Florida. SHe passed away this year , October 2004, in Columbus Georgia. James Arthur Dutton served in the US Army, during WW1, WW11, and Korea era. He is buried in the American Legion Section, at Riverdale Cemetary, Columbus, Georgia. Wish I knew his biological parents names. I have a document but you can not tell out the cursive writing, to understand the name. I understand he spent alot of time at Fort Sam Houston Texas for some of his Army career. Had two sons by first marriage, and one lives in Oklahoma, and the other is buried in Fort Smith Arkansas National Cemetary. That's all I know handed down to me. My mother was Vida Lily Dutton born 1901 in Melbourne, Australia. She is the eldest daughter (after 3 sons (Harry, Herbert and Roy) of James Stelfox Dutton who is listed in the British 1881 census as 16 years old and an apprentice grocer. He was the second eldest son of James Dutton who was born in Norwich, Cheshire in about 1836 and Mary Johnson who was born in Davyhulme, Lancashire. James Stelfox Dutton came to Australia in about 1884 with 2 friends 'to seek their fortune'. He joined the Salvation Army and was instrumental in producing the first feature films in the early 1900s. There are lots of Australian relations all very proud of their Dutton forebears and anxious to make the connection back to the UK. His siblings were Ellen, Rowland, Samuel, Mary and Amy aged between 19 and 4 years in the 1881 census. Do we have any close relations? Best wishes to all! Wendy |

parents in 1968,from England.My father is Alan Dutton son of Harry Dutton whos family lived in Cheshire England.Harry Dutton my grandfather was a navigator in the R.A.F,and was killed on a training exercise in Winipeg Manitoba in 1942.He was married to my nana whos maiden name was Pym.My father Alan Dutton was also in the R.A.F,he was a military policeman doghandler,and then became a "Bobbi".I also have a brother named Philip. |

sent it on to my sister who is a geneology fiend. My husband is a Dutton and recent research has shown that we have a Dutton line as well. Haven't figured out where it ties in yet, btu are convinced that it must. This family of Duttons lives in Branson, Missouri, although originally my husband's line comes from Southren Utah. |

I was born in Delaware County, Pennsylvania in 1934 and am the son of Norman Ralla Dutton and the grandson of Samuel Austin Alibone Dutton. We have not been able to trace Samuel, except that he may have spent several years in a Pennsylvania home for Civil War orphans. |

father immigrated to Canada from Burscough Bridge, Lancashire England in 1920 and settled in Coal Valley Alberta. My mother, Vera Maudsley travelled to Alberta from Preston, England in 1922 and married him shortly after her arrival. My grandfather's name was Henry Dutton. It's nice to see so many Duttons contacting each other. I grew up thinking that there were only a scattered few of us in the world. |

Denver. I was born in 1952, the son of George Phillip And Roberta Dutton. George was the son of George P. Dutton of Atlanta Georgia. His wife was Dorothy Rees Dutton. Both Dorothy and George Sr. are buried in Arlington National Cemetary. I do know that my father was born and raised in Atlanta Georgia by his mother, after George P. Sr., who worked as a railway clerk in Atlanta died of a heart attack. Dorothy and George Jr. then moved to Washington, D.C. I would enjoy hearing from fellow Duttons who are related to my branch of the clan. I know I have distant cousins in Maryland, Virginia and California.
