| Comments: | What's to say that already hasn't? Dennis was the true surfer, the authentic free spirit much maligned and often misunderstood. It's his songs alone that can make you cry. Unfortunately, he lived a wild life, but ultimately just lost out in the end on what seemed a pretty normal day for him. I dunno...in all my BB research and readings it just seemed to me he needed a solo career, which his 1977 album provided, but apparently, the glamor and gloss of being a BB won over as he remained in the band but continued his partying ways. He leaves a legacy and a warning to those unwilling to heed its call. Many are called...few are chosen...rock on Dennis! And just so you know...your brother Brian and his message boards have banned me for saying outrageous things...I think you would understand...peace brother, father, musician, free spirit...this world needs your guidance and understanding. Rock on. |

| Comments: | Dennis was like the ocean, wild. He was a looker, but like so many people with good looks, it overshadowed his talent and the other sides to him. He's inspired me beyond belief! His life was like a twisted fairytale. All good looks, success and money but, at the end, a lonely death. There is a fitting romanticism in his drowning. He loved the ocean so much, it's almost like he chose that moment to leave.

I wish he was still with us but with all the demons he had to conquer in his life, it gives me great comfort to know that he is with the Lord and also my young son who died too young. I enjoyed seeing him in concert and listening to his music and there is no celebrity like him today (with the exception of his brother Brian, who I know loved him very much). I feel bad that my daughter will never have a Dennis to appreciate like we did. |

| Comments: | I'm not sure everyone knows that the brothers Wilson were of Swedish descent (although not born in Sweden). Ed Sullivan made mention of it on his show before The Beach Boys performed "Wendy". If you listen to the way Carl, Brian and Dennis spoke early on, you can definitely pick out a Swedish accent. You can hear it in Denny's voice in the 1971 movie "Two Lane Blacktop" (an awful movie, but a must for any Dennis Wilson fan), especially when he says the word "lose". |

| Comments: | I heard early Beach Boy David Marks recounting a story about Dennis Wilson. It was circa 1963, and David Marks (barely a teenager at the time) was being hassled by a group of jock types. Denny pulled up in his red Corvette and said "David, is there a problem?" Apparently, Denny had quite a reputation as a bad-ass around Hawthorne, so there was no problem as Marks got into the car and Denny pulled away. Maybe that inspired the line in I Get Around: "The bad guys know us and they leave us alone."
