| Comments: | I have been a member of NAAN for many years now and have watched it grow and prosper through many different obstacles, including members with their own agendas. It saddens me the things that I have heard by reliable sources and not necessarily NAAN members about the direction the organization might be taking. Over the last decade the National Officers including myself, had to make decisions that we did not take lightly; decisions that were given a great deal of thought and prayer before action-all in the best interent of NAAN, not ourselves, nor our jobs within the FAA. If the members will reflect back into this decade, we always asked for active participation; however, as I sit here I can honestly tell you that maybe a dozen of the members is what kept the organization alive and respected in Headquarters. Many of these dozen are no longer with the FAA or NAAN, should that mean that all that was gained should be lost-the answer is NO! I am asking the NEW National Officers to keep NAAN a respected employee coalition without personal agendas and actions that may not be in the Coalitions best interest. You may ask, why does she care? The answer is a simple one--although our organization is open to all, a great deal of our members have Native heritage. For those of us that were raised in both worlds-white and red, I personally choose to live my life in the Red because of the strength and values I learned in that world. I would like to see those honorable, strong, resilient values continue in the NAAN organization. One thing that i always asked myself when I held my positions on the National Board was this: What does this action or information do for NAAN, is this suggestion a valid remark or does this benefit the person involved. When I was a new member to NAAN it was what i would describe as a laughing stock because of the leadership in place, over the years we corrected that and moved or replaced members with just cause to get us where we are today. I learned a great deal from the PAST members experiences and personal thoughts. I hope that NAAN will continue to stay on the RED ROAD and continued to be respected as a worthy organization. Evonye you continue to do amazing work with the web site (I included you in the dozen). I ask ALL NAAN members to support the organization with an open mind and research the FACTS about past issues before making a judgement.
