| Comments: | Hi, My grandmother was born at Gaultois in 1867, her father was John Webber Taylor, storekeeper for Newmans. My grandfather, Alfred Warren Anderson went to work for Newmans at Gaultois and they were married at Hermitage in 1890 and then came to England. I visited Gaultois in 2000. See from other entries my relation whom I knew as Susan Day has put a message on and will try and contact her. I loved the area and have visited Newfoundland three times now. Shirley |

| Comments: | This site is a great discovery for my brother and I who have visited Gaultois three times in the last few years. Our great grandparents lived on Gaultois. Great grandfather was John Taylor - storekeeper for the Newman Company and our grandmother was born in Gaultois in 1869 and lived there for the first 24 years of her life. She met grandfather there. He had been recruited in Jersey in the Channel Islands by Newmans and sailed to Newfoundland at the age of 15 years. My grandparents returned to England and he continued to work for Newmans in London for almost 60 years. We love the Coast of Bays and always feel so at home there having met such lovely people. We come to Newfoundland as often as possible as my brother has bought a house in Cupids near Bay Roberts. We hope to return to Gaultois in 2008. |

I learned alot.I haven`t been to Gaultois since the summer of 81 or 82 I`m not sure,I`ll have to ask Me Mudder.I have fond memories of jigging the Biggest Cod fish I`ve Ever caught, in the passage just north of Gaultois.
