| Comments: | Erin is truly a child of God sent into our lives. She is so spiritual and inspirational, and truly a wonderful example for all christians. Erin shows how God is there even in our darkest hours, and that in the end we truly do find peace. To me, it appears that Erin lived her life to the fullest. She never gave up, never gave in, and always walked on with her head held high. Erin raised awareness for cancer reasearch, with her P.U.S.H braclettes and the bear hug. Erin made a huge impact on both people she knew and the ones she didn't. Erin is an angel. |

| Comments: | My sincerest and deepest sympathies go out to the Gannon family, as well as to all of Erin's many friends. I was very saddened to learn of Erin's passing from Ms. Grant. I had the pleasure of having Erin in my grade 8 French and English classes. She had such a beautiful soul that shone through in everything she did. I remember her bright smile and how her eyes shone when she smiled. She was always surrounded by her friends and I know she is sadly missed by all who knew and loved her dearly.
I am impressed as I read Erin's web page to see her smiling through what must have been such a difficult time. It just goes to show what a truly amazing person she was. I will never forget Erin and also Ali. I feel as though I am the one learning from them right now, not the other way around-learning that faith and trust in God can and does make the hardest trials bearable. I know that Erin and Ali are in Heaven, watching over us. May God Bless your family. I will continue to pray for Erin and you, as well as Ali and the Narbaitz Family. May God continue to give you strength as you mourn the loss of your most precious Erin. Sincerely, Marilyn Fleet |

I never met you,in fact I had never heard about you until I read about the Group Hug in the paper. I have 2 teenage daughters around your age and was very impressed amd moved with what I had read about you, that my wife and I visited your web site. Your family must have been so proud of you -you were a beautiful child with a strong will and from what I can see an awesome personality. When I think of what pain you have suffered I sometimes feel guilty fir having two healthly children .But I know you would not want me to feel that way, but to love them as your family do you. |

| Comments: | I wasnt fortunate enough to have met this beautiful person but have heard about her through those that did. I am a fellow St.Matts Tiger (class of 98) and feel absolutely proud that our school has continued to be blessed with the presence of amazing individuals such as Erin. I heard about the Bear Hug Event and about Erin and began to read her website. You may not be here on earth with us but I know you can see all the amazing things people have and continue to say about you on here. Although I did not personally know you Erin I feel as though I did. Your spirit was and remains strong and beautiful. After having read your website, my good friend and I were completely touched by your strength, courage, love of life, determiniation and ESPECIALLY by your faith in God. Erin- YOU have helped put life back into perspective for us as well as many. As many of those who knew and loved you have said...you may not physically be here with us but your spirit lives on....we TRULY HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH A BEAUTIFUL ANGEL!!!
To the Gannon Family, my thoughts and prayers go out to you during these difficult times but I know that you will succeed because you must have been blessed with just as much faith and strength as Erin was! |

| Comments: | Hello Mary & Family
I just took a few minutes to visit Erin's website and I was blowed away by her passion for life and her amazing faith in God and his plans for her short yet so meaningful life. I was reminded of my sister Shirley who passed away 3 years ago of Breast Cancer at the age of 46. She too had a tremendous amount of faith in God. She wrote in her journal on a daily basis up until a few days before she died and thought it is difficult to read her journals at times it is also therapeutic. I hope you and your family find comfort in knowing how much Erin has touched so many lives and her words live on through her website. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you being your life without Erin but remember her spirit is with you always. May God help you through this time of sorrow. Sincerely. Marilyn |

| Comments: | To Erin's family,
Erin was and still is such an inspiration to me, she's an inspiration to so many people. I didn't know her personally, but we exchanged a few e-mails. Whenever I got an e-mail from her I just felt so calm and I felt like I could do anything. She was such a beautiful and strong young woman. It's so depressing to see someone like that go, but God must have needed her for something. I know the mourning process is long and hard, but just remember how much of an impact your daughter, sister, cousin, neice, etc... made on so many lives. |

| Comments: | I feel touched by how full of life Erin was, even in her condition. She lived each day as if it would never end. She was a real angel living on earth and we were all blessed to have known her, seen her, or even read about her. Erin is most definetly at the side of God, sitting with him and talking with him. She'll now be able to watch everyone she loved grow up and comfort them through her spirit. The impression Erin has made in only the past 3 years since she was diagnosed with her cancer has been incredible. No one will forget her I'm sure. But for the Gannan family, remember that death is the first step to eternal happiness. You may be away from her now, but soon enough you will be with her forever in Heaven. Life never ends, it just starts over.
With all my love and blessings, Alanna Harvey. |

| Comments: | I personaly did not know erin. ALthough i took part in the production, " A midsummer nights dream" along with erin and was able to see her dance with grace, beauty and confidence. I guess i coudl write a million pages about my thoughts and prayers concerning her...i know a million would not ease the pain her family and friends have endured, i wish it could. The strenght she demonstrated for everyone was incredible, its been said by many, a thousand times before and will never lose its meaning. She was stronger then many people could ever imagine being..she was strong for not only herself as well as everyone around her. Although i wasnt fortunate enought to have known erin.. i am fortunate enough to be close to somone with whome erin was close with as well. She has passed on love filled memories and days of laughter to that person, which will remain in their hearts forever. I wish i could thank erin for being so strong. i wish i could thank erin for being such an important aspiration in so many peoples lives..but i would like to thank her family for brining such an amazing person into a world full of pain and suffering and allowing us to put aside our thoughts or anger, frustration, tears and pain of the everyday world to breath and realize that life is worth much more. Rest peacefully in heaven erin. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. Thanks for being so strong. |

I never knew you but I only heard good thing. When I had first heard of you in seventh grade I felt the greatest sympathy for you and your entire family. To me your battle was an amazing and inspirational one. You never gave up and that made you one of the strongest people I know. I lost a loved one to cancer when I was seven years old and I can remember everything they went through. So for you to go through all of what you did was astonishing. At this moment you are probably looking down on all of your family, friends and supporters...and all of us right now are thinking of you and your amazing life. Liana, when I met you this year I didnt know that your Erin's sister but after a few days I found out but you looked happy and full of joy just like your sister. Erin's story is ... well I don't know because words can't explain it. I wish the Ganon family the best in the ENTIRE world. Be strong and know that every single person loves and prays for your family. Erin.. rest in peace and we love you. ~*~ Rachel~*~ |

| Comments: | Dear loved ones of Erin
Thank you for leaving the website up...I read the obituary in Thurs. paper and was drawn to look up the site. There is still a pulse of Erin's spirit there.....the fact that she had come to the realization that God can do anything.....and miracles do happen. Not always the way we would write the script but in God's way. Her spirit that shines from the photo's she had selected, the sense of peace that her experience in God's presense gave to her, the ability to touch others still......all these are miracles. I cannot relate to the death of a child or sister but I can to the loss....I lost my mother when I was six and that was over fifty years ago. Her spirit still remains within me and I give thanks for her life. Erin will never leave you and has left you the gift of her indominable spirit....in spite of all that she went through she was still reaching out to others, sure in the knowledge of God's love and unafraid of what death would bring. Sending you showers of blessings and may the touch of God's hand start the healing of loss. Love Barbara |

I go to the same school as you did and I have to tell you that you've inspired so many people! Especially me! I have now read your whole website and all of your stories have made me belive in God even more than I did before. I hope that the 106 000$$ we've raised helps to figure out the cause of cancer. I didn't know you at all but I've heard so many good things about you that it's hard to believe that you weren't an amazing person! I love how you wrote about you're little talk with God and what you saw when you thought you were dead! That was amazing because I know that everyone has wondered at least once in their life of what heaven is actually like and if it exists. I bet that you're not feeling any pain at all, now that you're in heaven! Thank you for everything you've taught me and everyone else! You've taught us a great story that we will some day tell to our children and grand children and I believe that God has brought you in and out of this world to teach us exactly that, and you've done a great job! Everytime I pray, I'll think of you. Love always, Stephanie Sabourin |

| Comments: | I attended Erin's funeral today, it was so sad to see such an amazing person go, but what I think was even sadder is that I never really got to know her. For the past 2 and a half years everyone was telling me how great Erin was, and ever since then I have been looking up to her. She was my role model. Erin was the strongest person I’ve ever seen. The way she would come to school and see her friends even when she was sick, I knew I could never do that in a million years. What Erin didn't know was that she inspired me. She inspired me to be a better person. I know now to never give up even when the odds look low, because that’s what Erin did, and for that Erin, you will always be #1 in my books. Thank you Erin. I hope that you are looking out for all your family and friends in this time of sorrow, may you rest in peace. |

Please accept our most heartfelt condolences on the loss of your beautiful Erin. Your family has been in our thoughts and prayers for the past week. We are Karine Chartrand's parents and participated in the Bear Hug Event last Friday. We certainly felt the energy and love generated by Erin's colleagues at St. Matthew's and were proud to be able to attend. We understand what a difficult journey this has been for you all and share in your grief. We also believe that both Erin and Karine are now angels looking out for both our families. Erin inspired me to get into more things and to work really hard in school. we all cared for her and miss her, but the good thing is shes not in pain anymore, shes in heaven, and she taught everyone she knew an important lesson. to never give up. Erin made it to the end of the bear hug when the final totals were in. without the bear hug and all the support from the school, she wouldnt have mde it this far and neither would we. |

I'm very saddened to hear of your loss. Erin was an amazing girl. I admired her strength and courage throughout her entire battle. Although I graduated from St Matt's in @003, I was able to get to know Erin through friends, and as well my brother Kyle. Whenever I happened to be at the school visiting old friends on a day off from college, I always saw Erin, happy and smiling...ALL the time. She was a great role model for all of us and she will be dearly missed, but forever in our hearts. Jenna Baggs |

| Comments: | What a legacy for one so young! The other night on the news I saw, and half-heard about, the gigantic bear hug. "What a neat kid!" I commented, and that was that. Reading an obituary a very young beautiful face stares out from the black and white columns and it is Erin Gannon, the neat kid. Thankfully, I am directed to this web site. I wish I had known you Erin!
Perhaps Erin's work is not finished. Perhaps people like me will come upon her writings and take hope from her thoughts and the courage she models. I have only just found her - I need time to read what she has written, enjoy the other places on the 'net that she found helpful and to just be with her. I hope that, if anyone reads this, they will tell her parents how she has touched a fellow traveller today but most of all I hope that this site can somehow remain, for as long as possible, in tact and shining. Thank you Erin and I look forward to enjoying what you so generously have shared in these pages. Carole McGuire Ottawa, Ontario. |

I wanted to let you know that Erin means so much to everyone!!! And because she does things should be as perfect as they can be. The poem i wrote for her is from the gut of my heart...and i realized there is a typo...This is how it should be..... Angel From the Snow ~~You were always a fighter, when others would not fight dancing in colours, rays of morning light Soft sun kisses, came from your honest eyes a smile so warm, in which gloomy days could not rise Compassion for life, led us to prayer and hope finding ways to come together, of better ways to cope Time is endless, to follow your driving lead God had a mission, and you have done his deed The flower that blooms today, is yours to hold and keep placed in your hands, where the willows no longer weep As one of Gods children, your love continues to grow you are an angel Erin, an angel that we all came to cherish and know~~ Love Holly May God Bless and Guide us all |

| Comments: | Erin, and family,
Erin, you have really affected the lives of so many people. It is impossible for me to really step back and see the big picture of what you have done. And I really, truly believe that the fundraiser is just beginning to scratch the surface of how you have helped others. You had a strength of character that I have never had. You were always able to hold onto your faith and your hopes, and it is so hard for so many people to do so in the face of such adversity. Not only did you continue, but you continued ahead, undaunted. I don't think that there is a person at St Matt's that hasn't been touched by your journey. And I know could you only be so, you would be here among us physically, continuing to root us on. Even still, you are with us in spirit, and in memory. Even for myself, and I only really got a glimpse of you in one of my classes, you have had a deep impact. I'll openly admit that I am a bit of a social outcast here in the school, and yet you saw beyond that and would talk to me. That fact in and of itself is one of the reasons why your memory will always live on with me. You were always so strong, even when things were down, even when you didn't get as high a mark as you wanted. You took it all in stride and really just enjoyed life. You may not have realized it Erin, but you have really become a role model for so many people at the school, and that includes myself. When I felt I had little to believe in, when I felt low, I looked to how you forged ahead in life, even with the doomsaying doctors saying you would die. You gave me something to believe in - someone to believe in. That takes a special strength of character; you were truly one in a million, and I and the entire community will miss you. It is sad that your story had to end so tragically, and I feel for your pain and the loss of you family. Yet, at the same time, I know that which breeds destruction has also bred creation; looking around I see such an outpouring of sadness and joy and rememberance. Even in your death, you have not only helped to better the community you lived in, but you have helped the community reach out within itself, as well. I am sure your family looks to your memory and you the path you took, and can take pride in it. Your memory will always remain, and I will always pray that you look down from the heavens, and bless me and the community with the strength and endurance you always had. As a final thought, I put together a couple of memorial pictures for you. I know you will see them, somehow, and I hope you like them, for that is all that matters. Perhaps my little contribution can help you relive the outdoors which you always enjoyed so much. http://www.liquidfirestudios.com/erin.png http://www.liquidfirestudios.com/Erin_woods.png - Peter Dodge |

She fought a battle that many people, including myself, may not have had the strengh to fight. Although I did not know Erin, I feel like everyone in our community was there fighting the battle with her. When the news of her passing away was told, I watched the mood of everyone around me change. It was like everyone had just lost not only a fellow student, but a friend. She held on for a long time, but she reached a point where she was ready to go and now she has gone on to a better place where she will be able to be happy, and one day we will all be able to be with her there. Erin, your strength has inspired all of us, and if anything, i wish you could have held on to get better. R.I.P |

| Comments: | My condolences to Erin’s family and friends. Having recently lost my sister (in-law), Karine (23), to cancer I realize that there is nothing that can be said to take away the pain and sorrow during this difficult time. Just know that each day really does get better with time so stay strong. She is not alone and more importantly, not in pain. I have attached a poem (Karine loved it), which was included in Karine's “Celebration of Life”.
I'M FREE Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free I'm following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard him call; I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way; I found that place at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared a laugh, a kiss; Ah yes, these things, I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savoured much; Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch. Perhaps my time seems all to brief; Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now, from pain I’m free. |

Through all of Theresa's stories, I heard about this funny, brave amazing girl who seemed to have such a love of life, and she definitley knew how to live it. The pictures on this website speak volumes about the person she was - easygoing with a beautiful smile. I especially like the picture of her and her friend Ciara, when they were on the cruise, looking confused beside a sign that read "Please do not put feet on wall". That was awesome!
Lots of love to Erin's family and friends. Erin, I hope you are in a happy, peaceful place. |

| Comments: | Erin was a very special girl who touched a lot of people. I danced with her from the time we were 4 years old, and she always brought energy and enthusiasm to her dancing. When she was accepted to the National Ballet School, everyone was so proud of her, because she deserved that honour more than anyone else. I know that giving up dancing was one of the hardest things she ever had to do, but she got the strength she needed from God. Everyone will always remember her for the wonderful spirit and love of life she had. She will never be forgotten!
God Bless you Erin! |

You do not know me, but I found your Livejournal through a link from another friend. You were a brave young woman, and from your pictures, I can tell you touch many lives. Rest in peace. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Do not stand at my grave and weep; I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush; I am the swift uplifting rush; Of quite birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry: I am not there. I did not die." (anon) |

Our Friend before us lies, In all save breath She seems the same as yesterday. Her face so like to live, so calm, bears not a trace of that great change which all of us so dread, I gaze on her and say: she is not dead but sleeps, and soon she will arise and take us by the hand.I know she will awake and smile on us as she did yesterday, and she will have some gentle words to say, some kindly deed to do, for loving thought She is not dead. such souls forever live in boundless measure of the love they give Laurie c. I am obviously only one of the countless people who was deeply saddened to hear the news of Erin's passing. She was remarkably kind, bright, strong, talented, courageous and truly a beautiful person, both inside and out. She has, and continues to be, an inspiration to us all... she has touched so many hearts. Among her overwhelming qualities, Erin was also blessed with a wonderful family. Mr. and Mrs. Gannon, my sincere sympathies. Liana, the girls and I are thinking of you. Much love, Chantal |

| Comments: | I did not know Erin very well, but we did have Philosophy class together for a short time last semester. What I remember most about her was the obvious strength and love for life she expressed in the way she interacted with the people around her and how much she cared about her friends, and how much they cared about her in return. She always had a smile on her face and laughed out loud even though some days I know it must have been the hardest thing to do, to keep her head up high above the obstacle that stood in her way. I know that she is at peace at last & craddled in the arms of God. I truly admire her everlasting courage and strength. She will be missed by so many. My condolences to her family and friends.

| Comments: | Dear Gannon Family,
Though I only had the pleasure to meet Erin this year, her life has touched mine in a way that words can't explain. To think of Erin and her battle inspires me. She has and will always be remebered as someone who kept faith and believed in times of despair. Her life, though short lived, as done so much good and will continue to do good for years to come. " Death is more universal than life; everyone dies but not everyone lives." Erin lived. I find peace in that. I believe that God only gives us what we can handle. He knew Erin was strong and would follow his path. Now she has entered his kingdom and will live forever. My thougths and prayers are with you. With love Brenna Dufour |

| Comments: | To the Gannon family: my thoughts and prayers are with you - with my deepest sympathy, thank you for the light your daughter had within her soul. It will never go out. I posted the following on my LiveJournal the day Erin died.
Sometime this afternoon, after a long, tireless struggle with cancer, Erin Gannon passed away. I didn't know Erin very well but I'll reflect on what I DO know about her and then some thoughts on life and death. Bear with me. Erin rocked my socks. I think her most "you rock" moment was when I first heard she had cancer. When everyone first heard she had cancer. People would say things to console her and stuff but she kept a brave face through the whole thing. She acted as if it was nothing and that she would get through it no matter what. Staring down at that brave face while she sat at the cafeteria table you could see the fear in her eyes as to what she was about to undertake, but the smile forced you to disbelieve the eyes and believe with her. My second moment was at Leadership Camp. I was senior leader and Loran, SB, myself and all the leaders were very concentrated to make sure she had a great time. This was shortly after she recieved word she had the disease. She fit in without a hitch and after it all, she knew she was a fighter and she knew she could battle anything. With that came the introduction of the P.U.S.H. bracelets. (Pray Until Something Happens)... the school raised tons and tons of money for cancer research and the Candlelighters. The school prayed, the communtity prayed, the little old ladies in church prayed. We all tried our hardest to make sure Erin might have a chance at pulling through. The light: news that Erin's cancer is in remission. Then came the play. "A Midsummer Night's Dream"... I remember being Puck and sitting in my little trap door box whose lid I forgot to shut. Erin would look down at me in the hole while she danced and wink at me. Way to concentrate on your performance. HAHA - I'm kidding girl, you know I love you. You danced your ass off... we had faith. Then I graduated and I only recieved updates on Erin from my friends who were fairly close to her. Updates that her condition was getting worse and that her cancer had returned. Then came news of the St Matt's bear hug for cancer research. They raised over $60,000 for Candlelighters Kids with Cancer and for cancer research beating the old Ontario High School record for money raised and a Guiness Book record for the world's largest Bear Hug. Then last night, driving home from dropping off Jess R. with Kim, Kim C. told me that Erin was told she had 3 or 4 days to live. And today she died. Accomplishments are good no matter what they are. They make you feel good, they make others feel good and above all, they boost the energy you have and those around you. But what if your greatest accomplishment was your dying and your death. Now now, before people get mad at me, read on... Erin, like Ali and other kids with cancer, accomplished the most in their dying and death. They forced the community to come together, not to mourn, but to celebrate and for a good cause. If these kids weren't sacrificing their lives, would our community have raised over $60,000 for Candlelighters? No. If these kids weren't dying, would we have the Ali-a-Thon BBQ, dunk tank, pie throwing, etc etc to raise money for cancer? No. How is it that something so tragic as cancer and death can really bring out the best in people? How is it that one fragle, little girl in a wheelchair can be the motivation behind an annual BBQ? How is it that another fragile little girl can pull a community together for one HUGE hug? The bigger question is: How do these little girls keep smiling and laughing through the whole process as if nothing is wrong? They're brave, that's why. They know they are accomplishing more than they could ever imagine. In their death, a community mourns and lives. In their death, a community can love. In their death, people are helped. Erin: you accomplished the most by giving the biggest sacrifice. Ali: you gave the world while giving your life. For this girls, you will never be forgotten. |

| Comments: | Erin, you lived life to the fullest and you will always be an inspiration to others. Though I never knew you personnally, I have heard many wonderful things about you from students and teachers that knew you. In your 18 years, you have done things that some people will never have the opportunity to experience in their lives. I am sad that you are gone, but I know now that you are out of your pain now with God in heaven.

She stands hard as a stone, In a world that she can't rise above, But her dreams give her wings, And she flies to a place where she's loved, Concrete angel. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ And I'd give up forever to touch you 'Cause I know that you feel me somehow You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be And I don't want to go home right now And all I can taste is this moment And all I can breathe is your life 'Cause sooner or later it's over I just don't want to miss you tonight ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here Here comes the sun, here comes the sun and I say it's all right Little darling, the smiles returning to their faces Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here Here comes the sun, here comes the sun and I say it's all right Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear Here comes the sun and it's all right |

| Comments: | Although I didn't know Erin, based on things people have said about her she must have been a very special person. It is such a shame that someone so young and someone who has accomplished so much in her short life has passed away. But I know that she is no longer suffering, now in the kingdom of God and craddled in the Lord's arms. |
