Comments:Hi,

I am so sorry to hear about your loss and can only imagine your pain. Your daughter has been an inspiration to us all, especially to my son.

Jeremy is in Grade 8 at St. Matthews. Last summer Jeremy was diagnosed with Lupus SLE. Lupus is treated with a lot of the same medications and treatments as cancer. He has had to undergo chemo and will remain on medication to help control his disease. Lupus is chronic.

The strength your daughter has shown us has helped our family. The teenage years are hard enough to go through, but she continued to fight. When Jeremy would get frustrated and angry I would tell Jeremy – “you cant give up – look at Erin”.

Cancer has touched all our lives at one time or another – Jeremy told me of Erin’s little sister in Grade 10 and the pledges that she brought in. Erin was truly blessed with a wonderful supportive family.

The Bear Hug was a wonderful idea that brought our whole community together. Young and old were there to show that we cared – it was wonderful to see something positive on the News that evening. The energy at the event was tremendous. Your daughter, although she has gone to another world will live on forever in our memories.

May God bless and comfort you all!

She touched so many souls reaching out with her thoughts and cares for those she never met. I would pop in on her journal to see how she was doing but when I logged onto my friends page and saw the news....well my heart lots it's smile and a bit of the sun lost its luster.

I can now only believe that in heavens there is a glimmering shining new star. Not your usual star mind you but one that dances amongst the universe.

Erin may your dance always shine brightly, your twinking comfort those who love you and it is here you shall be immortal as you dance among the lights of heaven.

My prayers and healing thoughts to your family and friends...

Your infectious soul shall be terribly missed :(

We got to know of Erin and the true witness of God that she gave with her life. As the father of an Erin myself, I know I cannot even imagine how awful a loss this is for Chris and family.

Come, by My wounds I make you well."

I was the Chaplain at St. Matthew's for many years and I did not know you, but the blessings of your life brought you to the hearts of many. We feel now that we have a little glimpse into your days on this earth. Sleep well now little angel, because now you are one. What great courage and wisdom you have given to us through your example of how life should be lived. Death is not the hardest thing we do in life, but it is the most beautiful. St. Matthew's is such a blessed community because of all the heroes and heroins, like Kalen Daly, Donnie Payne, Jay, Neelish, Anthony, Bill Wren to name a few. May God give your family and all your friends the love and strength they need.

During my time at St. Matthews I had the pleasure and privlidge of teaching Erin math. She was a truly amazing person, who blessed not only the school but the community as a whole with her many gifts. She was the type of student that made you proud of what you do. She will be sorely missed. But her battle has now ended and she may finally rest in peace. Please take solace in the fact that she has been called home, and will remain a part of all of our lives. May God bless and keep you during this difficult time.

The Rose Beyond the Wall

A rose once grew where all could see
Sheltered beside a garden wall
And, as the days past swiftly by
It spread its branches, straight and tall

One day, a beam of light shone through
A crevice that had opened wide
The rose bent gently toward its warmth
Then passed beyond to the other side

Now, you who deeply feel its loss
Be comforted, the rose blooms there
It’s beauty even greater now
Nurtured by God’s own loving care.

I'm Still Here

Friend, please don't mourn for me
I'm still here, though you don't see.
I'm right by your side each night and day
and within your heart I long to stay.

My body is gone but I'm always near.
I'm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I'll never depart
as long as you keep me alive in your heart.

I'll never wander out of your sight-
I'm the brightest star on a summer night.
I'll never be beyond your reach-
I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.

I'm the colorful leaves when fall comes around
and the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.

I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
and you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.

When you start thinking there's no one to love you,
you can talk to me through the Lord above you.
I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
and you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.

I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep
and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I'm the smile you see on a baby's face.
Just look for me, friend, I'm everyplace!

You were so young to be taken from your family and friends, but God had plans for you, we may not know right now, but we will feel you around us all. I just lost my sister in November 2003 at 66 and have really not come to understand yet WHY, she was supposed to stay with me and help me deal with keeping our mom and dad safe and sound, they are in their 80's and are so taken back with Eleanor going before them. But she is a angel looking down on us I know and guiding me each day.
Erin I look up into the sky this morning it is bright and clear and I speak to you and ask you to be an angel of mine too. My deepest sympathy goes to your mom,dad and sister.
God Bless and Protect Them always.

When you awaken in the mornings hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of guiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine at night
Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there, I did not die
For I live on in you!

Comments:I have just had the pleasure of reading Erin's diary and seeing all the pictures that showed she set out to live her life to the fullest, and she did just that. She was a true fighter and an inspiration to others suffering from this horrific disease. She certainly is an inspiration to me. It breaks my heart that God comes and takes the good people first, but I say, it is because he needs special angels in heaven to help him do his good work. Here is a poem that has helped me through the deaths of loved ones, and I hope it will help Erin's family and friends through this hard time.

TOGETHERNESS

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Whatever we were to each other, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the same easy way as you always have.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.

Life means all that it ever meant
It is the same as it always was.
There is absolute continuity.

Why should I be out of your mind
Because I am out of your sight?
I am but waiting for you for an interval,
Somewhere very near,
Just around the corner.

All is well.
Nothing is past.
Nothing has been lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before..
Only better.

Infinitely happier.
We will be one,
Together,
Forever.

My deepest sympathies, and you are in my prayers.

God Bless

so preciuos and pure
something so delicate and fragile
our hearts could not endure.

You fashion from a rose
blossoming bright and red
tiny little lips from which
sweeter words were never said.

From emerald drops
and fragrant spice
the sparkling beauty of your eyes
were created twice.

Sweet smelling cinnamon
sprinkled with the finest care
was soon to form
your soft full hair.

And from a dew drop
placed with an angel's touch
a cute little nose
could never smell so much.

Thus God!
created a being so rare
one who was here
to show how we should care

Yes God created you to show us
how we should love
and now he have called you home
to the heavens above.

God’s Plan for me

Even before I was conceived,
God had a plan for me
And so He called me to Himself
To serve Him willingly.

Erasing every fear I had,
Endowed with His own grace,
He set a task before me
To be accomplished in this place.

I’m anointed and appointed,
There’s a job I have to do,
And the gifts that God has given
Are passed on through me to you.

There’s His love to be implanted,
I’m to build but not tear down,
And to sow the seeds of faithfulness
While joy within resounds.

He filled me with compassion
And gave me new insight,
To bless His children with the words
I say and pray and write.

As long as I keep listening
And walk in humility,
His Voice becomes a message
To speak to you through me.

Always in our prayers,
Rob & Shirley

I am a nurse and cared for a young lady many years ago who had a brain tumor. She had a similar experience when having surgery at the age of 16. It was the 1970's and very few people believed her when she told her story. I believed it totally and saw the benefits of that experience when 3 years later she was not doing well and she was "OK to go". It gave her a comfort and peace no one could quite understand. I am sure Erin is in that great place! She certainly is an inspiring young lady!

P.U.S.H.---- Pray Until Something Happens !!!

This has been our motto in our home
for 42 years.
In this time frame, Erin was delivered
to the Grannon Family l8 years ago.

We never met you Erin, but from talking
to your grandparents, and aunt, we were
updated as to how your were dealing with
this terrible disease "CANCER"...Also your
website, was an opened book, to read, learn,
and experience what your family and loved
ones were dealing with, during this
very difficult time.

The motto above, applies to you, Erin, and
your family. Something did happen on the
27th of April.
Our Lord called you to His home, so that He
could finally extend His Love, to you, and
give you many blessings, for all your pain
and suffering on this earth.
The Lord's house is now your permanent
domain.

May your soul rest in peace, but your Spirit
will never be forgotten. Your demonstrated
spirituality gave many the gift of "FAITH".

Our Prayers and Thoughts are with all your
family members, at this time.

The Lord Almighty is with You, Erin,
He has given you Eternal Life, blended with
His eternal Love for you.

Psalm 46 Verse 7
Psalm 52 " 1

Many blessings to the Grannon and Meuse
Families.

Comments:I can't even begin to express what I am feeling right now. Gannon family, I am so sorry for you're loss. May God be with you all in this time of pain and goodbye's. I am a childhood cancer survivor and Erin helped me stay strong in times when I wanted to give up. Everyone knows Erin loved dancing, so as a tribute to her I wrote this essay tonight:

Everything I need to know about life I learned from dance...... Always Spot - If you loose your focus you'll fall off balance and end up on the floor. Always us rosin - There is nothing wrong with a little extra help to stay on pointe. Always be proud to look at the person in the mirror - be able to hold your head up and know that you're the best that you can be. Work within yourself to be the best - It's not worth it unless you sweat. Never forget your first teacher - they helped you get where you are today. Listen to the music - all around you are melodies; take them and make them a part of you as you go along. Don't hide from the spotlight - Everybody has something to give and should be seen and heard. Dance to your own music - You were blessed with individuality, share it. Life is a dance - You learn little steps along the way to help you stay on pointe until your big finish. Listen to the applause - you'ver earned it, appreciate it. Leave everything open to interpretation - choreography has its own meaning; do your best to find out what it is and use it to fit your own life. Dance through life. Don't take everything so seriously. Music makes everything a little lighter.

Erin helped show me all of these qualities, because she herself was a living example. She helped me in so many ways that I'm sure she wasn't even aware of - but that's okay. Erin learned her little steps along the way, and her friends and family were there to help her stay on pointe until her big finish. She has now finished her finest performance yet - one of beauty and grace unsurpassed by any coreographer - through her moves and music she showed us life and strength, and now that the dance is over she is home where she belongs. "This world is not my home, I'm justa' passing through..." - I'll always remember Erin Gannon. PUSH - Push until something happens.....*that's for you Erin*

Comments: Like some of the other people here, I never got the opportunity to meet Erin, but when you look back at how courageous she was in such a difficult situation, it's quite regretable never getting to meet her. People like this are rare in today's society, one person, who can touch the lives of so many people around them, even those who didn't know her were touched by her stories of facing the odds, and living life to it's fullest.

It's heartbreaking to see how it's always the best people who are taken from us the fastest, and seems there's never enough time to help everyone. Over the years I heard from friends from St.Matt's how she was doing, and when I heard the news last night, it was like losing a dear and close friend in a way, even though we didn't know each other.

Erin you'll be missed by all, but we'll never forget what you did for everyone in our community, giving us all a sense of hope, and taught us to live life.

I wasn't really good friends with her, but I was in all of her grade 8 classes and boy was she a very smart person, and a very friendly person. Always involved in school activities and the student council. Always with a smile on her face. She will truely be missed :(

Erin's outstanding faith, deep religious convictons, and compassion for others touched everyone in a special way. There was not a dry eye in the room by the end of the video. At standing ovation was given to Erin. Peace Erin and may the Prince of Peace grant you eternal peace.
Peace and prayers,

You have made such a huge impact here at St. Matt's and brought our entire community together. Pray Until Something Happens...something really did happen, Erin...you have inspired us to raise over 100 thousand dollars for cancer research....which is the most amazing thing we could of ever done here at St. Matt's, it is something I will never forget for the rest of my life, and I'm sure many others as well. We love you so much and miss you. You will never be forgotten. Your courage, strength, and faith has given many hope, and shown many that life is worth fighting for. May your spirit live on within us all and may you be in peace.

Comments:Hi Erin,

I finally get to see your site. Like many people have voiced, I wish I had seized the opportunity to know you better.

It was time. God, as before, is carrying you to your new beginning. I pray that he will keep you in his peaceful presence.

For once I am at a loss for words. I do trust you are in a better place. I will keep you and your testimony close to my heart. I will share your story and your hope. I thank you Erin for the witness you have had and for the impact you have in so many people’s lives.

For some time, I have seen the struggle you and your family went through. I have also seen the love, faith and strength that surrounded you. The first time I felt I started to know you was… when your Mom came to CCO one evening to share your testimony. I remember the times when you came to mass your presence so quiet and yet so powerful. Wherever you are, you always seemed to have an impact. You drew people together and witnessed to your faith. Thank you.

You had a link on your site to ‘Pathway to Peace’. You displayed these characteristics of joy, integrity, kindness, faith, courage, hope, love, patience, determination, gratitude, and humility. At one point it said:
“We must not only give what we have; we must also give what we are.” Joseph Mercier
You lived this out. You gave your ‘all’ for everyone.

Even now, your impact has not been silenced. You have reminded us to P.U.S.H., you reminded us to have hope.

Thank you, God bless you, and rest in peace.

---

To the family,

The hardest thing of all is to say goodbye. You are all strong witnesses of love, faith and strength. I am at a loss for words to express my greatest sympathy. Know that in this time of grief, you are not alone. I pray that God and time will heal your sorrows and comfort you.

May memories comfort you, may friends ease your pain, and may peace (God) replace your heartache.

From my heart to yours, please accept my deepest sympathies.
If you need anything, please, let me know.

God bless,

Kim

Dedicated to the memory of Erin...a song by Josh Groban

To where you are..

Who can say for certain
Maybe you're still here
I feel you all around me
Your memories so clear

Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You're still an inspiration
Can it be (?)
That you are mine
Forever love
And you are watching over me from up above

Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile to know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

Are you gently sleeping
Here inside my dreams
And isn't faith believing
All power can't be seen

As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me everyday
'Cause you are mine
Forever love
Watching me from up above

And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love will live on and never leave

Fly me up
To where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile
To know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

I know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

Any one who knew her, knew that she was a gift from God, the sweetest most caring person ever. She is my inspiration and angel. As I read Erin's website and stories, I realized what she has gone through, she is one of the bravest most courageous people I know. I admire her strength, faith in the Lord and her will to go on. Erin has taught me that too accept what comes my way, and too live each day like it is my last. I also want to send me deepest sympathy and prayers to Erin's family and friends. Our angel is finally in the paradise she deserves and I know that she is looking down on us right now.

Although we did not have the pleasure of meeting you in person, we often heard of your progress through our son Kyle. I don't know how often you hung out with each other but I do know that you obviously had a positive impact on him.

I remember how his band, "Scheme" (with Jeff Dunn and Connor Muldoon), first started out a while back and the boys wanted me to go to Blessings to pick up a bunch of P.U.S.H. bracelets so they could sell them at their shows as a sign of support for you and to raise funds for Cancer research.

After visiting your website and reading some of the entries in the guestbook it is obvious the impact you had on a good many people.

Angel From theSnow

~~You were always a fighter, when others would not fight
dancing in colours, rays of morning light
Soft sun kisses, came from your honest eyes
a smile so warm, in which gloomy days could not rise
Compassion for life, led us to prayer and hope
finding ways to come together, of better ways to cope
Time is endless, to follow your driving lead
God had a mission, and you have done his deed
The flower that blooms today, is yours to hold and keep
placed in you hands, where the willows no longer weep
As one of Gods children, your love continues to grow
you are an angel Erin, an angel that we all came to cherish and know~~

We Love You and will Always Remember the Good that you have Brought to us and others to come!!!!

It is hard to imagine what your family is going through at this time. Erin has and continues to be an inspiration to all of us. I had the pleasure of teaching Erin back in grade 7. What impressed me most about her was her smile and 'jois de vivre'. She always lit up the room with her enthusiasm for life. As a peer helper she embraced my class this year. 7-05 is deeply saddened by this lost.

On a personal note I know that Erin will continue to be a shinning star. I can only wish that my 3 young kids can follow such big footsteps and live their life like Erin tried to do.

I pray that you are living in total happiness and love, far away from the suffering of your life here. I pray that your message may touch everyone who hears it and that this website act as a healing chance for your family and friends. Also, I have to say that your story did help me a lot when I struggled with my own life. You overcoming of all of this gave the example that we should all follow

Comments:To the Gannon family,

My sons went to school with Erin and she has been in our prayers throughout her battle with cancer. I realize that words are so very limiting at this time. My brother left this poem for us when he died:

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!
Mary Frye (1932)

I know Erin is enjoying eternal life with God, where there is no pain and where her smile will forever be the sunshine to many people's days.

Thank you for the gift you gave to the world with Erin.

Love,

do you remember the story in the bible when God called Abraham to Mount Sinai and asked him to sacrifice his only son? It was a big test and God wanted to see if Abraham loved him and trusted him enough to do it. In the end, God spared Isaac.

I thought of that after reading your story about Christmas Eve. Maybe God wanted to see if you trusted Him enough to follow Him out of this life and into the unknown of Heaven. You passed that test and he showed you the glory of his Kingdom.

I think your mom was right, it was not your time to go. But, that lesson helped you to remember how much you love God and can trust Him. He demonstrated that He will always be beside you.

Thank you for sharing that story You will be in my prayers

Back in the Allstar Crew, LSC'02, days you wrote me a warm fuzzy that was pretty much the only one to actually bring me to tears(although you may not remember what you wrote, I always will). After reading it all I could think was"How could she be more wrong!?"(Am I nice or what!?:P) For Erin to me it's the other way around. I look up to you.
Thank you for all the things who've done...even the little things that may seem like nothing but mean everything.

I wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Today was such a success at St. Matthew's - you must be so proud.

My youngest brother died of malignant melanoma seven years ago and like you was an inspiration to many, many people. His courage, humour, enthusiasm for life, and belief in God was contagious. He had this poem beside his bed and while you likely have it, I offer it to you with love.

What Cancer Cannot Do:
Cancer is so limited . . .
It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot corrode faith.
It cannot eat away peace.
It cannot destroy confidence.
It cannot kill friendship.
It cannot shut out memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot invade the soul.
It cannot reduce eternal life.
It cannot quench the Spirit.
It cannot lessen the power of the resurrection.
