Can anyone provide me with background to all the names I have - Deane, Hearn, Spracklin/Spratling, Saunders, Kirk, Freshfield?

Found the site very interesting as background to my visit.

Comments: Greetings and Best Wishes to Everyone in our Sister City of Harwich (Essex) UK from Frank and Ann Marie Girardi in Harwich (Barnstable) Massachusetts, USA.

We have just had the pleasure of hosting and meeting your group of 26 from the Harwich Historical Society who have been visiting our part of the world these past several weeks.

They had fantastic weather (except for one soft rain day) and saw and did all there was to do in our town during our Annual Harwich Cranberry Festival 2002! They met our town's fathers, saw a terrific fireworks display and were shot at by American Revolutionary forces during the grand parade/

We were told about your town and your great website(and it is indeed) by Mayor David McCleod and Bernie Sandler.

We hope to visit your part of the world some day soon and say hello in person. Do please say hello and best wishes to your archavist Dr David Male for us.

Thank you all for your best wishes and active support since 9-11. We really do appreciate it and hope we remain true friends and staunch allies for many years to come.

God Bless our Two Countries!

Warm Regards

I do not know many people now in Harwich, but lived at 81, Main Road, for a great part of my life. Father was a Ganges "schoolie", who married Mother,a Green from Park Road, (and latterly Beacon Hill Ave.).
My work takes me to different parts of the world, and I am currently privileged to be working in Ulsan in Korea, on the two new Stena ferries, being built at HHI for the Harwich service. They are coming along fast, and will be in service, I guess later in the year.
We all enjoy the web pages, and my youngest daughter enjoys seeing Harwich, without ever having visited. The Dreambook is also very enjoyable and interesting. Keep up the good work,
Robert Hollis.

Congrats on your site, which as a "Harwich" man, I much enjoy, and which allows my youngest daughter to enjoy, without having actually visited, at least for the moment.
Coincidentally, I am privileged over here, to be actually working on the building of the 2 new Stena ferries, registered in Harwich, and probably in the Harwich service around the end of the year, at least the first one.
Keep up the good work,
Best Regards,

just a short message from me while I'm still at the Eastern Mennonite University at Harrisonburg in Virginia. When I leave here on 25th June email reverts to home. I've safely delivered all the publications to the Virginia Historical Society in Richmond. Unfortunately when I was there, no member of the Jamestown 2007 committee was there. But I spoke to two people who promised to pass them on to the right people. I left my address here but noone has yet been in touch. Hopefully they will respond to Bernie's letter. We are expecting to get a vist together for New England next year but perhaps we should also think about Virginia in 2007?

remember going to Bathside Infants School, or Esplanade
school? I am so glad that Esplanade wasn't torn down. What
a great site! Thanks for all of the information.

The Warners Holiday Camp (where Hi De Hi was made) was
totally flatened and replaced by housing about five years
ago.
I'm not sure what you call the fishing lake. If you're
refering to the one in the holiday camp, that has gone.
However if mean the one on the seafront (there are 2
alongside each other, one a boating lake, the other a model
yatch pond) they still exist.
