I grew up in the days of Scooby-doo, Transformers, GI Joe, and the MANY countless other cartoons. I will never forget when my father told me of this amazing, and slightly crazy, guy who "did" those cartoons and then to meet the man several times - truly awesome. Frank is a great, down to earth guy. I look back on my childhood and feel blessed to have known Frank as a kid in the 80s (We had a blast with him at my High School graduation party). I still to this day listen to the tape of "Almost Sold Out" (recording of his comedy at the Ice House and the Answering Machines of the Rich and Famous) and laugh out loud. I'm amazed at the close relationship you've been able to form with him amongst the countless fans. If you ever get a chance to read this Doreen, I'd like to say thanks. And if by chance Frank happens to read this, I too express my grave disappoint in that Hugo Weaving was chosen to voice Megatron for the new 2007 Transformers Movie. Someone posted an interested quirp on youtube about with the Interview for the voice actors of the video game of the same name, which frank reprises his role in. "Frank's voice sounds fine for the movie. Could do with some tweaking, so it's less feeble but the age has helped his Megatron voice. I mean all these people saying the actors sound old, come on! These guys were old commanders in the G1 cartoons and age only helps underlay the idea that these guys have been at eachother's thoats for thousands of years." It's not going to be the same without Frank Welker! Frank man! you gotta do something! |

You must've been doing voice-overs for quite a long while because your voice list is endless. I love cartoons and have always dreamt of someday becoming an animator and producing my own stuff. I know that there are many other great voice-over actors in the business like Nancy Cartwright,Maurice LaMarche,Billy West,Rob Paulsen and the great late Mary Kay Bergman,but you are without a shadow of a doubt THE best of them all. I think you are so cool when you especially do animal noises like Uni the Unicorn in Dungeons and Dragons and I also love your voice of Slimer in The Real Ghostbusters. | Comments: | I grew up devouring all sorts of cartoons Frank made contributions to. I soon noticed a similarity between the voices of characters on different shows, which I thought was so cool because I knew about Mel Blanc's achievements for Warner Bros. and I thought nobody would ever be able to do that kind of work again. If this could be forwarded to Frank, I have a question about his voice for Soundwave on "The Transformers." Was it based on the Cylons from "Battlestar Galactica?" The voice patterns and mannerisms seem so similar. Thanks. |

Whenever Megatron hysterically laughs, I laugh too because it's just funny the way he laughs. I like the way Frank portrays the voice of Megatron. No one can do Megatron's voice as good as he does. I like it when Megatron and Starscream (the late Chris Latta) always go at it for Decepticon leadership supremacy. |
