Your friend Phil Hutcherson's daughter had been removed one week prior. I think of you often and wondered how you were doing. I knew you had a lot of talent. | Comments: | I loved your interpretation and analysis of the auto bailout. I would encourage you to write to Edison Electric Institute, the Association of publicly held utility companies, located in DC and propose your suggestion.
In the late 70's and l980's, which was another era of gas scarcity and high prices, they on behalf of their member companies took a pro-active role in research and development of electric vehicles. They created the Electric Vehicle Council which included not only utility companies, but also battery manufacturers, small vehicle manufacturers and - you got it - the Big 3. Their research included a project, which was later purchased by CalTech in support of a project they were working on for NASA, that evaluated vehicle performance which each of the utilities were required to invest in. (Pacific G&E had the most vehicles numbering 107) Many of the performance issues dealt with the weight of the batteries. But consumer resistance came from (1) initial cost; and (2)the desire for the speed and start-up, which came from the ICE's. I believe that If alternative "go green" energy is to take hold in the US, there has to be a "Mission Statement" from Washington, and what better way to announce this than through funding they have ear-marked as "bail-out" funds for the Big-3. In short, provide a line of credit based upon their re-engineering and production plans for more fuel efficient vehicles - and most of their suppliers and employees can be saved. BMoore |

Since everything I heard and hear about the incident seems like its alwasy the other side what about the other side of the island?

I am one of the first-round judges of the novel contest for the Florida First Coast Writers' Festival. Your novel, A DESTINY OF FOOLS, is likely to be one of the five finalists. Sometimes I send some suggested corrections to entrants so the final manuscript is as clean as possible, but your writing is so clean that I would only be quibbling about commas here and there. In your logline, you might refine that a bit. The PC crowd would object to "Mankind" instead of "Humans are," but a bigger quibble may be that the protagonist is omitted. Play with something more like "Reporter Sophie Zapata strives to blah blah blah since blah blah blah." Again. . .enjoyed the first 99 pages. Howard Denson |

| Comments: | After reading the first few chapters of your book I was taken by surprise when I came upon my name when your character spoke to Elwood (Woody) Rumbaugh. Woody and I were great friends and the loss of him has been one of my lifes biggest sorrows. I think of him constantly. As long as I live I will carry him in my heart. I live close to the "Wall South". A half size replica of the Vietnam Memorial in Penscola, Fla. So I am able to visit Woody and the other buddies I lost during the war. One died flying my air refuel mission in a HH-53 over the lake in Cambodia. When you publish your book, I would be honored to be one of the first to purchase it. Thank You. |

I can recall a time or two that some of us from the 56th SPS were loaded onto a Jolly and taken places, where and for what for I'm still tring to figure out. I know once, we where off base on one of these "milk runs" as I'll refer them, were loaded onto Knife #-? Jolly Green tail #926. It wasn't until very recently when I found out there was a connection between myself and the Mayaguez incident.
