Yum, wonderful interaction. I love how deep this goes into Fuji, and really fleshes him out. The dynamic with Tezuka is played beautifully. Thanks for a fun read.

Hello!

I'm just now diving into the world of GetBackers, so I've found your site and couldn't be more happy cause I have the raws of the manga (a few missing pages but still...) and was dying to actually know what was happening. Great job you're doing with the text translations (I actually like text trans rather than scanlations... yeah, call me weird) so I stopped by to thank you for doing it and also to ask if your translation is still in progress. I hope the answer is yes. Oh, and don't worry cause I'll never do a scanlation with your text (not enough patience for that), I just wanna read/understand the manga without having to rely on sumaries we find here and there.

Once again thanks for your hard job. And Happy New Year!

See you around,
Kitkat

Huh. Wow. Hikaru comes back to haunt Akira. :) That's kind of ... sad, but also appropriate somehow. I can't imagine either one of them being able to rest easy without the other. I think Hikaru spent a couple of intensive months playing Sai before he met back up with Akira, but maybe that's just me.

The styles and media you chose to tell this story (interviews, e-mails, amateur videos, etc.) were a bit bewildering at first, especially when told in second person, but they were also really impressive and original. I enjoyed the geekery of some of the tech-speak.

This was a really interesting concept, and refreshingly subtle in many ways, hinting without spelling it out so that much of the story is open to interpretation.

I was surprised how much I liked Akari in this. I was also struck by how evocative the parts with Akira's mom and Ashiwara were.

The person with the video camera in the beginning had to have been Hikaru, and I'm pretty sure Waya was chatting in one section, but I feel much less sure of that.

Hikaru's absence in later sections was subtle at first, so when it gradually became clear that he'd died, it was that much sadder. I was really missing his presence by the time the last section came around, so I was glad to see him once more, even if it was only to witness the last time he ever communicated with Akira before he died.

Anyway, this was very interesting (if bittersweet), so thanks for sharing.

I have read a lot of Prince of Tennis fic, but I have to say that Flor de Yemanja is my favourite one ever. I just adore it, from start to finish. Your prose is beautiful, your characterisations are brilliant . . . the Mizuki portion in particular may be my favourite part of any fic, Prince of Tennis or otherwise. Thank you for this!

oh sab. you sweet sweet thing. i love how of all my friends, you are one of the few who will write me fluff, yet make it so intellectual that it's not only palatable but horridly addictive. love akira thinking of "his" rival possessively (we do get something of a feel for that in the series, where everyone ELSE from waya to the honinbo keeps rubbing it in XD) love how hikaru can DO that--reaching over boundaries, breaking rules in everything from metaphysics to table manners. and i love how akira thinks he has it figured out but his practical nature fights it, yet on the whole, it hardly matters because what they have now takes precedence.

Again, leaving a commment because you forgot no one, not even sweet Taka-san, and because you have such a gift for dialogue. "Bite me hard, viper!" shouldn't have worked for a Japanese boy, but oh, it does. And so does "Ahaha. Ha." and Eiji's flailing (I could see this entire sequence in my head), Echizen's cap being waved in Momo's triumphant hand, hapless Kaidoh, steady Ooishi, and...Fuji. I'm in love with your Fuji, and your Tezuka, and this would be what I wanted for them, if I had a choice. This now, and later--a private beach. ^_^

I'm sorry, am I weirding you out with my fangirling? I've probably even commented on this fic before *sheepish*

Aki

i love you. i love this fic. i love the fact that tezuka meets fuji on a private beach and proceeds to write an award-winning novel. i love how normal yuuta is, how he's back to being the resigned younger brother of someone who is half-genius, half-weirdo but no longer a rival. i love how you mix humor and some seriously wallopin' character insight. i really love tezufuji, and how they save each other. i love how your backgrounds are just there, but never disturbing. i love how nothing is wasted in this story, really, and how fuji is so...FUJI, without being evil or bitchy or some of the other things he sometimes becomes in this fandom.

i love how they all, in the end, come out on top.

...

Aki
Wednesday, July 28th 2004 - 02:25:52 AM
this is the curse of staying up late o' nights to write bad fanfiction and read good fanfiction. you can never remember whose genius you have commented on before, but at any rate, some things bear repeating.

you are tezufuji and less confusing and for that, oh, i love you so.

would that i could capture your amazing knack for details, for capturing a scene and a character in a half-smile here, a brief exchange there. and how appropriate is it that tezuka can't read fuji? ^____^

*sends love*

That was very amusing and very confusing at the same time. I guess it might be that I've not seen much of the anime, unfortunately, and have just ordered the first 12 manga. Then again your note and the end might have something to do with it being part of a non-existant fic. I liked it a lot, although I think it would have been better if it were longer. I enjoy your writting a lot. ~ja

http://www.livejournal.com/~absenceofmind ...there are few times that i read a fic and find myself stunned speechless, but this would be one of them. i don't have anything to say, because i don't quite feel worthy of commenting. this fic defies silly tags like "good atmosphere" or "vivid imagery," because that would be like standing in front of the mona lisa and saying, "good spacing."

i may not know the getbackers universe, but i know good writing when i see it. thank you for this story.
