| Bring Back Instrumental Easy Listening Radio!: | With HD radio offering more choices, why not bring in other formats rather than rehashing the same old stuff? C'mon lite rock stations or smooth jazz operators. Beautiful Music/EZ would be perfect fits for your HD channels. It would also be welcome relief from gab radio, all Lady Gaga all the time, or the endless versions of "classic rock" (a term that's become meaningless.) Want listerners to move away from Satellite or internet radio? Give us variety not the same rehashed garbage. |

| Bring Back Instrumental Easy Listening Radio!: | Hi, I am from brisbane Australia and have loved the beautiful music style since 1971 when it first hit Sydney via 2ch when I lived there. This station had been very unpopular with a mixture of opera, classical, western,MOR and variety and high brow talk shows and all of a sudden it went to number one in the ratings with this new format .It lasted until 1983 when it went soft rock and lost its ratings.Brisbane has never HAD such a station. The Gold Coast has 4cba fm which has beautiful music at night but reception from brisbane is not good. Then the internet came along and I found Jones College radio and Live 365 Aol radio and XM78, KLUX, Kahm,KNCt and airstream there are so many .Shoutcast radio has some under instrumental and easy listening searches.I thought it was just so wonderful. Please send Jones College radio WKTZ a donation. It has such a huge playing list.I have gone out and bought an internet radio and placed it in my kitchen and play Jones College radio all the time.It is exactly like 2ch was with two instrumental and then a vocal. The important thing is that the DJS do not big note themselves and are simply there to provide music and relaxation. If I were put in solitary confinement in a jail I would last quite happily indefinitely with this format on the radio. |

| Bring Back Instrumental Easy Listening Radio!: | As I'm writing this, I'm listening to the Jones College station (WKTZ-FM). Now THAT'S easy listening, relaxing music like we used to enjoy here in Southeast Wisconsin on the old EZ104 and Quality 92, plus several other stations that switched over to various forms of rock and pop. The "soft/lite rock" formats are getting a little too edgy to be consistently relaxing, and the smooth jazz is rather repetitive in style compared to the wide variety of instrumental arrangements on the Bonneville type formats. We need a more clean-cut, relaxing antedote to the stressed out lifestyles of today. |

| Bring Back Instrumental Easy Listening Radio!: | As a 22 year old, I enjoy listening to the soothing sounds of Beautiful Music. This rare radio format is the reason I now listen to Satellite Radio more than traditional radio. Although traditional radio is still good, but there are radio formats that are dying off from the radio. Formats such as Beautiful Music, MOR to name a few. Unfortnately it's good that had died off now in the modern age when we can still access some awesome formats that are now longer on the radio. In Texas, I believe only 3 cities have the Beautiful Music. Hopefully HD2 and HD3 radio can bring back this amazing format.

| Bring Back Instrumental Easy Listening Radio!: | There are some easy listening outlets in Pittsburgh, including WSHH (the station I listen to frequently), WPNT (now called WLTJ and Q92.9) and WJOI (now with different calls as B94). Until around 1989, WSHH had easy listening and they're usually automated on weekends, except in the mornings and when Terry Caywood does some DJ work. I wish some Pittsburgh station would bring it back. You can sort of hear it on WJAS-AM, but I'd like to see it on 96.1, which is the KISS-FM outlet. They should drop their crappy music in favor of this kind: EZ Listening! |

| Bring Back Instrumental Easy Listening Radio!: | I work in a Bar on the weekends. The music in our audio- system is dance, club, dance. Now, don't get me wrong I program these disk because we have a young clientele. After a long nights work on the drive home I usually look for soft relaxing music. Unfortunately the radio scene here in New Haven, Ct has no such thing. Like others I have to choose a cd to play for my quiet fix. How nice it would be though to set the FM dial to a nice Beautiful Music station.
Currently I am raiding Ebay for as many BM artist I can get my mitts on. I have always listened to Pop/Dance/Disco/R&B/Rock, but now I find myself craving EZ-BM. I think this format could be revived with great success if done properly and with real zest. I believe age is not a factor in whether it would succeed. Muggy |

| Bring Back Instrumental Easy Listening Radio!: | To all the Radio Conglomerates (Clear Channel et al): Please bring back beautiful music to broadcast radio! We'd rather pay $13 a month to hear "Escape" on XM radio which offers the format than listen to what's currently being offered by your stations for free.
Beautiful music listeners: I found this stream a few days ago. It's for KAHM radio in Prescott, AZ, just north of Phoenix. They've been playing beautiful music since they came on the air in 1981. It's very similar to the beautiful music format we used to hear back in the 70's and 80's. I think it sounds even better than Jones College's station in Jacksonville, FL, WKTZ. Try it out. Here's the link to their website. http://www.KAHM.info Also, for a good selection of beautiful music online, try going to amazonmp3.com and type in "Ray Hamilton Orchestra" in the search. These are some new recordings of beautiful music which were released in 2006. They're more upbeat and updated versions of pop hits from the 80's and 90's era. I downloaded three of these and burned them to CD's. They're great! It's well worth the time and money you'll spend! |

| Bring Back Instrumental Easy Listening Radio!: | Hi,
I have been a listener of B/EZ for over 35 years. We use to have a number of stations on FM to listen to years ago, you could not find a rock-n-roll format on FM back then. Now all you find on FM is mostly some form of rock, hip-hop, or country, with maybe a classical, or smooth jazz station thrown in. I have a baseball cap and two licence plates of the last B/EZ station WNCE we had here in south-central PA. The last out of state large coverage area B/EZ station WWMD, was saddly sold out and an another country format was put on the air in it's place, like we needed another country station when there was aleast three other country stations in the same listener area. I would like to participate in helping to bring back B/EZ format to FM. We currently can only get the B/EZ music format off of XMradio via DirecTV, but we have to pay to get it while rockers and country can get their formats for free. |

XM 73 which is called Frank's Place (High Standards) and XM 78 which is Escape (EZ Listening). This is definitely the music of my life. I grew up listening to this music and format and have been in love with the sound since my childhood in the late 50's and all growing up through the 60's. I love the music of Lex de Azevedo and John Fox in particular. Does anyone know where or if any of their music is available for purchase? I've been looking for at least 20 years. |

| Bring Back Instrumental Easy Listening Radio!: | I owned and operated an easy listening station in a small city (WBAQ-FM, Greenville, Mississippi) for some 40 years. Listenership grew year by year until it was achieving top county ratings every year. Ultimately I sold the station (regrettably)to a local group that is continuing the format. But what will eventually destroy listenership is that their policy to carry every type of remotes and special programming imaginable. What made the station so successful was the devotion to the music. The focus HAS to be on the music with a very minimum of talk. Football, farming, etc. must be left to other formats. Hopefully, easy listening will return to the air widespread in the future...for beautiful music is eternal. |

| Bring Back Instrumental Easy Listening Radio!: | I'm about to turn 42 so, wasn't around for the classic era of beautiful music (at least the era that I like the most, mid to late fifties), but I find as I grow older I appreciate an interesting melody and deft hand with arrangement more and more appealing. And this is coming from someone who listened to punk rock in my teens (and still do to some degree). Anyone noticed Ben Vaughn's new album, Designs in Music? It's inspired, in a non-ironic way, by beautiful music of past years. It sounds like a great record. His label is Soundstage 15, maybe they would be interested in a new Hollyridge strings album. Frankly, with the way so-called "Lounge" music has grown in popularity over time, I'm really surprised to hear he can't find a label. He really ought to consider independent labls for this, maybe somelike Sundazed or Rhino, both of which have re-released hundreds of out of print titles from the classic beautiful music era. |

| Bring Back Instrumental Easy Listening Radio!: | Hi there - me again. Sorry, I don't want to turn this into a blog but I just had to make a sad commentary on the state of affairs with our music: I was fortunate to spend an afternoon with Stu Phillips who arranged and conducted most of the Hollyridge Strings albums in the 60's (check out his website at www.stuwho.com). He managed to secure the Strings' rights from Capitol (the folks there figure the Strings are a dead property) and has been looking into the possibility of releasing a new album. The problem: he can't find a label to promo and distribute it. He has even gone as far as to offer to pay the studio time on his own. I'm checking things out with some labels here in Canada but does anyone out there have connections??

Fortunately I have an opportunity to live a dream and host a program called Elevator Club on the airwaves courtesy of a small community FM station located on Canada's west coast every Sunday evening from 9:00 PM to midnite local time. It's an oasis in a desert of drek and much appreciated by a small, but loyal, following. If you're interested, the station (CHLY-FM) is streamed at www.chly.ca. | Bring Back Instrumental Easy Listening Radio!: | It's a shame that when all of the mergers and take-overs of broadcasting today by no-nothings like Clear Channel and CBS/Infinity have ruined the good name of radio and broadcasting.
The Beautiful Music format is a lost art. The Schulke format was the best. The art of formula Top-40, Heavy-Metal, and Top-40 R&M recording is gone. | Bring Back Instrumental Easy Listening Radio!: | I became a true fan of "Beautiful Music" as a high school senior back in 1978. That makes me 45 years old now. While I liked many of the instrumentals; it was the vocal harmony group versions of pop songs and standards that appealed to me most. My hometown (Louisville, KY) stations were WVEZ-FM and WCSN-FM, programed by Bonneville and SRP. Those stations' formats changed around 1985 and morphed into "Soft Rock/Adult Contemporary." I was crushed!
I went on a personal crusade to find as much of this music as possible. So, after 25+ years I believe I may (arguably) have one of the largest collections of easy-listening vocal group albums in the country...singing groups such as Anita Kerr Singers, Johnny Mann Singers, Norman Luboff Choir, Pete King Chorale, Joe Reisman Chorus, Henry Mancini Chorus, Hank Levine Chorus, Living Voices, Midas Touch, Serenade Singers, Geoff Love Singers, Jack Halloran Singers, Frank de Vol Chorus, Richard Alden Chorus, Liz Damon's Orient Express, Billy Vaughan Singers, Enoch Light Singers, Mike Sammes Singers, Ray (Conniff & Charles)Singers(over 30 groups)all played on "Beautiful Music" stations. I'm deparately searching for those custom vocal group recordings by Neil Richardson Singers (aka Schulke Voices or SRP Singers) and Johnny Douglas Singers from 1981. So, if any of you guys out it "EZ Land" can steer me in the right direction, drop me an e-mail. Before I close, let me say that as a middle-age African-American I completely despise rap/hip hop music. However, there are a few of you on this site who have chosen to associate this format with one particular group, which is not only unfair, it's stupid. I work with teenagers from many diverse backgrounds who seem to love it. It's true that most everything today is marketed towards our youth. None of us will ever change that because it's all about the $$$$$. We just need to find our own niche and a way to co-exist because they're not going anywhere (but neither are we). We may not like what they're listening to (and we don't), yet we must acknowlege their right to listen to it. Besides, most of them could care less what we "oldsters" think anyway. I just got this PC the other day and I'm discovering a whole new world. You see, I don't know one other person in my town who loves and appreciates easy-listening...not one. Hopefully, I'll make some new friends on this site. To Mr. Matsil I say, place the blame for the demise of EZ-FM radio where it belongs: A changing world and greed, not a former president and his wife, nor any one ethnic group. P.S. I believe that God has bigger concerns than easy-listening radio stations. Until next time, take care. |

| Bring Back Instrumental Easy Listening Radio!: | You make a good point.I too got tired of rock, hip hop, country and r and b on FM and no b/ez station.
Fm drove me to get Xm for Sunny their beautiful music station on channel 24.Marlon Taylor programs it like the old bonniville days and best of all no commercials and you can pick it up anywhere you go.I don't mind paying 9.99 a month for the music I love.I have the car hookup and also the boombox so I can hear it in my house.Xmradio also has a standards channel called Frank's Place that plays Bennett,Sinatra etc at channel 73.Some walmarts and bestbuys have a boombox with a skyfi hooked up so you can listen before you buy. Before I bought my xm radio I went to 24 and listen to sunny and I got hooked. You can also go and see what their playing at xmfan.com.I know I talk about Sunny a lot on this board but it is a relaxing station. One of their station Id's is Sunny America's Number 1 Stress Reliever. Also they play some music that is out of print today. Most everything you heard on b/ez stations on FM is played on Sunny. One last thing is that with XM you get artist and track info so you know the name of the b/ez song and the artist as well. The newer skyfi 2 also has a stock ticker and sports scores on it so you can see them scrolling under the artist and song info.Xmradio now offers online music for 7.95 a month for non xm customers.Right now they have a 3 day free trial.Just go to xmradio.com scroll down and highlight the now on your desktop. You can listen to Sunny that way.The reciever sound is better thou.Sometimes on the online service you will expeirence dropouts because of net congestion this isn't the case with the receivers. |

| Bring Back Instrumental Easy Listening Radio!: | I don't intend to offend anyone here, however,I am sick and very tired of going up and down the sliderule and unable to find anything worth listening to. All we get here in Miami,(Banana Republic)Florida, is loads of loud & frenetic hispanic music and rap and hip-hop, What the heck ever happened to easy listening, classical and lite rock? I am 43 and have seen radio, as well as TV, go on a downward spiral to Hades and no signs of coming back. I grew up in Hoboken, New Jersey and remember the good ole days of WPAT Easy 93, WRFM The Difference is the Music, etc... now, I just do not know. I want my EASY LISTENING back, as well as CLASSICAL music radio stations. Case in point, Miami's ONLY classical FM station WTMI was taken over and turned into a Party Station....where's the culture man? No really folks, I also strongly believe that easy listening is desperately needed back on the dials, and I do wish the FCC would restrict the hours of play of Hip-Hop and Rap, it's all about prostitution, disrespecting women, making money ILLEGALLY, breaking people's faces at will, killing at will, Gangbanging and other things I won't mention, all in the name of what? If I am wrong or sound prejudice here, please, let me know and I accept your constructive criticizm, however, when nine year olds are shaving their heads, sporting handguns and talking about "bitches and hos" that scares me. Not to mention that many youth today have little or no regard for others! I think the bottom line is "crap in, crap out". I am not an angry old oaf or anything, but, I am fed up with the status quo of radio today and its impact on our society, it's just pure garbage and indecency we can all do without. | Bring Back Instrumental Easy Listening Radio!: | There are alternatives on the web. The best is WKTZ-FM 90.0 Jacksonville, FL out of Jones College
http://wktz.jones.edu/ And just for the record, B/EZ started being phased out in 1986 in favor of "lite" adult contemporary or NAC (which is today's Smooth Jazz format.) So Bill Clinton cannot be blamed for this one. As the Republican supported deregulation of the industry prevailed and more and more stations began being owned by larger and larger corporations (up to 8 in a city) they change formats to increase listenership or change them to eliminate competition. B/EZ was the most dropped format because of this trend. They felt the B/EZ listeners were getting too old and set in their ways. More money could be made by targeting younger, more spendy audiences (and if you will remember, not a single Republican Congressman-not even Newt Gingrich went to bat in support of the B/EZ format. So they are not entirely innocent in this one too.) In closing, if you want B/EZ, the best place to look in the future might be the AM dial as FM is being used for more profitable formats...... |

| Bring Back Instrumental Easy Listening Radio!: | I would like to call on the FCC to hurry up and grant the modification permit for KSIR FM so they can get back on the air with more e-z! We miss that station here in the Denver area. I'm now 42 and grew up as a kid listening to the likes of AC/DC, Queen, and even some of that headbanger metal during the daytime, but when bedtime came, I always turned the dial to the stations playing the "elevator" stuff. Easy listening (especially instrumentals of popular songs) made me sleep better that popping pills, and I am saddened this formatt is now almost nonexistent. |
