I am looking for a James Smith ELLISON b. 1797 NC/VA. He appears in Gallatin Co. IL on the 1830 census, and dies in Gallatin Co., IL in 1864. He is married to Drewsilla [unknown] and marries a second time to Frankey Ambers/Ambrose. Some of his older children show their birth as being in TNon the 1850 census. I have been told that his residences were from NC>TN>KY>Gallatin Co. IL. I cannot find anything on this James Smith ELLISON parents or siblings... (he is not the son of Arthur ELLISON, who went into Ohio from KY. I am at a dead end on this one!!) I recently found info that leads me to believe he MAY be the son of Christina (VANOVER) and Ezekiel ELLISON, and a sister to Manerva ELLISON(also found in Gallatin Co. IL). Another connecting clue.. he has a son Ezekiel H. and daughter Christina.. plus several other clues. Can anyone help with either of these lines? I've come to a stone wall - do you or have you seen any records on a Joel Howell Ellison, born Dec.19,1850,died Sept.5,1895 in Texas. His birthplace is belived to be Mississippi.
