Comments:OI!!!!!!! PETE!!!!!!!!

Hey, bruthu! Its been a while, so I thought I'd say hello. I have a new computer and lost a lot of my old contact info, hence the thru-the-sit-email. Sorry, mate!

Things are prertty good here. Still with Edgar. He spent most of the summer on tour with Ringo Starr which made things tough for us. But we hope that his exposure will parlay into some good gigs next year. maybe a trip back to the UK!!!! That would rule!! We all still talk about what a great time we had with you lot. Great times indeed.

My wife and son are doing great. The boy (Owen) is 3 years old now and quite a handful. Very active, very much a BOY! I have been recording a ton of shit for an album. I can't seem to make up my mind whether to do a guitar-shred album or singer/songwriter. Maybe both. I dunno....

Edgar is working on his next album and is pulling out all the stops. I've recorded on the tunes he has so far and I think it'll be pretty cool!

Let's see, what else. Oh yeah, I sold a bunch of my shit gear and got a few really great amps including a nice VOX. I love the British sound. Thank you very much!

How are you? whatchya been up to? Hows ol' Alvin. We did a show in Boston Mass. with 10 Years After. All the original guys with a young hot shot filling in Alvins spot. Super nice guys, man. It was fun to hang with them. Very interesting. Nice guys. I told them about our Alvin experiences. They seemed to relate.... Go figure! God Bless 'em. If you see Alvin, give my best to him and Evie.

Do you see that crazy fucker Richard?? Miss him too. Please give my best regards to him.

Write me back and tell me everything!!!! Have a fantastic Xmas and New Year. Keep on Rockin', Pete! My best to Stella and the kids!

Much love,

DougE Rapps

Yours, the grumpy looking guy in the Cuidad de Girona reception. Well...you'd be grumpy too if you'd just watched Pieter Kentrop demolish two breakfasts!

Comments:Hello Pete.
Thank you For your great unforgettible night gigg with Scotty Moore in Norway.5-8-05.
The oney thing is: you deserved to have a bigger an nicer place to play at. To bad there are not moore concerts with you and Scotty.Maby you include Alvin next time.
I bought your Western Union CD great.
Here is a little review of the gigg . The same as the one i wrote on the alvinlee.com. Hope to meet you next time again.
pieter.

After arriving the Notodden Blues festival and tasting the atmosphere,( Notodden in Norway has every year a festival, bands playing at different locations in the town during 4 days, At boat cruses,in circus tents ,hotels, outside stages, pubs, halls, market places, big tents,),it was time for me and Inger to find the location were Scotty Moore and Pete Pritchard (from Alvin Lee in Tennesse CD)had there show that night. Scotty Moore was Elvis Presley`s guitarist and the "brains" back That`s Allright Mamma, Blue Moon and several other wellknown famous songs.
Scotty was and is still a scource of inspiration for many wellknown great guitarists like Alvin Lee .What i soon would found out while watching Scotty play that night.Nice to visit Alvin`s scources.
The gigg was in a place called Tele Pub a nice type of football pub with a concert place in the basement of the building. The concert place was intimate with room for onley 200 lucky persons, and was packed and sold out a week ogo.
So we were exited and ready for a intimate concert, standing in front at the fence just a few feet from the stage, right in front of Scotty Moore..
After the Norwegion banned called Dr. Bekken warmed us up it was time for the Grundy Pritchards band featuring Scotty Moore.
The band came on stage and opened with the swinging rocking song 247.365,wich sat a swinging 50ties standard for tonights concert.
After 2 songs and during the intro of Train Train ( Mystery Train )Scotty Moore entred the stage casual dressed in a sand safary jacked carrieing his beutifull brown flamed Scotty custom made Chet Atking Country Gentlemen Gibson guitar, playing those welknown "solo"chords in this famous song, while Pete Pritchard was smilingly playing the double bass and laying the rithem like a rope trough the songs with the band.
Paul Ansell was on vocals playing an inplugged accoustic 200 Gibson guitar, and singing naturly from under his cowboy hat, with his warm powerfull amazingly like Elvis tone voice.
The band had Scotty Moore on guitar,Pete Pritchard on double bass,Liam Grundy on piano,Jimmy Russell on drums,Dave Briggs (also a great guitar legend )on a Gibson Les Paul Gold top and Paul Ansell providing us with his great vocals.

Scotty Moore was in great shape smiling all the time and playing those amazing easy looking but very much chordchanging difficult solo`s in such a relaxed way with his thumd plecter ( like picking and steel guitars use). You can hear all those years of experiance in his convinced playing, very cool to see.

The Band provided us with pearls of song from the 50ties like to mention a few ( i do not have the complete setlist this time but...),That`s Alright Mamma- Blue Moon- Hard Break Hotel( Scotty first million sold record )-My Baby Left Me- The flipside ( b side)of Hardbreak Hotel...What was that again ?? One of my special highlights of the eavening was The flipside of Hounddog a wellknown song called Don`t Be Cruel. I got goozebups hearing this song and seeing Scotty play and Pete singing bobsoary backings behind his bass.
Not to forget a increddible Dave Briggs who play also tremendesly well on guitar with all those rocking solo`s .They also played a lot of other 50ties rockabilly like and Rock and Roll songs.

In the middle of the set Scotty Moore took a little break and went backstage. A amazenly harvey Keitel looking guitarist entered the stage who played 3 songs with the band his name was Bucky Berrett as i recall. Great guitarist. Such type of concert would be exactly suitable for Alvin Lee to be stepping up as a guest guitarist star.....
Having Scotty back on stage again they played som Carl Perkings songs including Blue suede Shoes. ( remember One for the Money 2 for the show....).

I am born in 1957 too young to know what kind of music was arround me in those days. But as i closed my eyes in front of the band that eavening,i was realey back in the 50ties hearing those fantastic songs playing by an Origional like Scotty,Jimmy and Dave from these years framed by Pete`s bass and Lians piano playing, and fronting it with Paul`s great vocals. What a treat.
To be honoused i was not expecting to walk into a Swinging Rockabilly Rock& Roll Timemachine like at this unforgettible night.

After the show there was time to buy several Signed CD`S and Pictures Of Scotty with Elvis, and CD`s of the Liam Grundy &Pete Pritchard Band ( Western Union). As you might understood i drove totaly broke and satisfied home after this great night.

For those who have the possibillity to see this amazing rare concert. They play again 9 and 10 August at the Rival Hotel at Stockholm Sweden and August 15 at the Jazz Cafe ( 5 parkway in London ),Highly Recommended !!!!

I was first introduced to your playing on the "Alvin Lee In Tennessee" disc and was just blown away.
I've been playing upright for the last three years (bass guitar for the last 30) and your sound, style, rhythm, technique, syncopation, approach, skill, groove... is everything I could ever hope to achieve on this instrument, but know I never will. Please alert me (us) if you'll ever be in the New York City area for a performance. I'd hate to miss seeing you play live. I'd also love some lessons, either in person or an insructional video/DVD (NTSC of course). All the best.

It was good to see you, dave and the band last night it's been a long time.

I don't drive so I can't get to many gigs so to have you playing down the road for a change was something I couldn't miss.

You don't change, you don't look any different to 20 years ago. I'll leave it at that don't want you getting a big head and it's taking me forever typing this with one hand.

Hope to see you again soon.
