I just read your review on New Police Story, here I would like to mention that recently a report was shown on a news channel herei n India on Jackie and in it the shooting part of many of hs movies were shown including NPS and to my surprise in the final fight sign actually the villian is using those wires and not Jackie in most of the scenes. I've been enjoyed your great site for almost two years already. I don't like pink eyeglasses. I like your realistic and practical way describing Jackie's movies & action without being economical with the truth. (Although I also have a bad feeling about making a good surface for attacks. But to the hell those people.) I also agree with your opinions on most times. One of our personal disagreements would involve Who Am I?, which is one of my all-time favourites. Although I belong to the western/international audience, I consider his pre-1992 movies as the real stuff. Still, for me Who Am I is far better than most of his watered-down and/or 'Hollywood-style' movies (Thunderbolt, RitB, Mr. Nice Guy etc.) I'd also want to ask one thing: I remember there was a section about Jackie's rivals and a few sentences about in what movie they show their true abilities. Now I'm keen on collecting wire-free or mostly wire-free movies of these people (Jet, Donnie Yen etc.), but can't find your earlier thoughts about them. As to the "Western" versions of his older films: fortunately in recent years they have published new "uncut" versions of various Jackie films in Germany, with original soundtrack and, of course, the songs. I couldn't imagine "Police Story" in any other way. Another good source for English speaking audiences are the "HongKongLegends" editions, which you probably know, anyway.

I am a big fan of Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao. I have seen almost every Jackie's movie- some were weak, some were average, some were good and some really fantastic (for example Drunken Master II)! This site is great- it has many informations that can't be found anywhere else on the net.... I only have a little reminder to the DOUBLE section. It's true that many of the backfalls are heavily doubled, because of Jackie's injured back. But....the jumping crescent kick in Dragons Forever is definitelly NOT doubled. Benny Urquidez said in an interview that Jackie didn't use a stunt double one single time in the final battle. I'm not sure about the cyclone kick at the end, because I've never seen Jackie performing this kick in any other movie. But I think it's him, too. The acrobatic double kick on the ship (on the ladder) wasn't doubled as well... |

Please time your watch - I request less than 30 seconds which in our world is felt as a minute or two - too much. I have terminal cancer. My daughter is a beautiful (by movie rather than mother standards) and worries much about me. Though divorced, her dad and I are good friends. He has recently been diagnosed with cancer too - and as part of his treatment has too lose his right leg.
