Her Parents Catherine McNamara and Thomas Hayes had 11 living children and 4 of them came to New Zealand together when my grandmother Catherine (Kate) was 16. My father went to Patrickswell in 1945 when he was 22 and took photos and wrote a letter home of his experiences and people he caught up with, just very newsy. You are welcome to have a look at them and have them for your website. |

| Comments: | Hi Ernie,thanks for your website. I've been looking for information on Patrickswell which is where my grandmother was born. Reading through some of the posts I recognise names that my father mentioned in a letter he wrote in 1945. He was 22 and went there to visit the home of his mother and see relatives. He also took photos. My great grandparents, Catherine McNamara and Thomas Hayes had 11 living children that I know of and four of them came to New Zealand, my grandmother Catherine (Kate) was 16 years old. Married names of ones that stayed are Joblin, Griffin, Kelleher and Goonan. My grandmother married John Lyons whose parents were from Ireland but I have no information on them. I'd like to share the letter Dad wrote as it is his experience of the trip. I could email this to you along with the photos which you could use for your website. Please let me know. |
