Aeronautical Science B.S. and ~1800hrs of mostly dual given. SGJ is a great airport with an outstanding runway for easy, smooth landings. Nice ILS and Control TWR. Can not wait to get back.

CONTINUED CONCERN OVER HOCHTIEF AIRPORT GmbH ROLE IN SYDNEY KINGSFORD SMITH AIRPORT

These sites give a brief history of the particularly unsavory past of the parent company of Hochtief Airport - Hochtief GmbH as well as information about their more recent history.

Further the site attemps to look into the seemingly large trail of allegations of corruption that seem to follow many of the contracts and investments they enter into.

It will be interseting to see if after looking at these pages if you think whether they were a suitable entity to control one of the main gateways to our country, Sydney Airport or not?

Further after reading these sites you may be like us asking some questions about just why did our Federal Government happen to allow this group to buy into our Airport; without it would seem proper either due dilligence procedures or security issues being examined in full?

Who actually are Hochtief Airport ???

HOCHTIEF AirPort are a co-leading shareholder in the Southern Cross Airport Corporation Limited consortium along with the Macquarie and Commonwealth Banks to whom the federal government awarded our Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport.

The sucessful Southern Cross Airports Corporation consisted of three main parties.

o HOCHTIEF AirPort GmbH
o Macquarie Bank Ltd
o Commonwealth Bank of Australia

HOCHTIEF AirPort (despite all the spin about the Macquarie Bank) were the strategic consultant, business adviser, equity provider and equity underwriter for Sydney Airport and in reality the major player in the consortia despite not having the largest shareholding (which has now dropped to around 10.5% from their original 15% - I'm reliably told - not due to the unwelcome publicity from ourselves but as part of predetermined profit taking strategy - which is not unusual in itself).

Hochtief Airport are specialised airport investors, owners and managers with the parent company having 70 yrs experience in airport construction, financing, planning, licensing and operation that goes back to their key role in building up German Airport infrastructure during the Nazi era.

HOCHTIEF AirPort currently owns stakes in and manages; Hamburg Airport, Dusseldorf Airport and Athens Airport which had 38 million passengers in 2001.

HOCHTIEF AirPort is a wholly owned subsidiary of Germany's largest construction group, HOCHTIEF AG.

The Hochtief Group has a 50.02% shareholding in Leighton Constructions (who in turn own 70% of John Holland) as well as a 100% shareholding in the mining giant Theiss. They also control Turner one of the largest construction groups in the US.

Today these companies are being awarded well over 50% (by value) of all major public works contracts being undertaken throughout Australia.

How come so high? Good management and competative bidding or are they just good at the mates game?

Hello,
I am relocating from Pennsylvania to St. Augustine to pursue a career in aviation. Fortunately, Aerosport has given me a job working out on the tarmac while I build my certifications. My first day with them is on Nov.17th.
It's nice to know that SAAPA is at the same airport.

Great website!

Started flying twenty years after I first wanted to. Now I'm
a private pilot working on my IFR rating. In the process
wrote an IFR reference and review book - IFR Pocket Guide:
Fly Safe, Stay Safe. I knew I'd never remember everything I
needed to know or remember to fly safely in the IFR system,
so I wrote the book. Visit my site -
www.camera-readyart.com - and let me know what you think.
Drop me a line.

Hi,
already landed a few times at your beautiful airport. I´m
glad, I found you on the net now.

Could you post my personal website

http://home.t-online.de/home/Bernhard.Rouschal

It´s about the Focke-Wulf Fw P 149D airplane. Germany´s
first postwar, military, propeller driven, training
airplane.

One of those was based on your airport and mine is located
at FD44, just about 25 miles away from SGJ.

Best regards
Bernhard

I am chaiman of the by-laws ad hoc committee for Green Castle Aero Club(GCAC) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I am looking for information to update our by-laws which have not been reviewed since 1990. Also safety and operation rules your club adheres to would be most helpful. Thank you in advance for any information you might be able to provide me.

Hi! to all of you lucky people that live in the greater St. Augustine area. My family and I were one of you during 1986-1990 residing at Sea Eagle Circle. Now residing in Horseheads NY. Got to come down and visit for my 50th BD. in early Jan. Old Streets were fun and we even got to climb the lighthouse. Someday we will return. Bless y'all.

Having flown both in Florida (FXE) and my home airport (CDW)
in New Jersey, I really envy you Floridians for the 300+
days of good weather you have down there.

Nice website you have, and if you get the chance, visit the

I took my first flight lessons at St.Aug.in 1971. I have a
Private certificate but have been grounded since May97
because of a heart attack. I had 3 blockages and 3-stints
put in to hold the blocks open. I have been ok since then. I
waited 6 months and took a stress test and blood chemical
test. and sent the info to the FAA. Does any one know how
long it takes to get the Third Class Medical re-instated
after a heart problem?? E-mail me lfilzen@southeast.net if
you have any comments or info.
