The scene I'm looking for is at some point the character ends up at a hotel/hostile type establishment wherehe sleeps for a few hours and leaves. | Comments: | The "Ladyhawke" soundtrack was composed and produced by Alan Parsons of The Alan Parsons Project fame, a UK musician/engineer who also produced Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" and the likes of the Beatles, Ambrosia, and others. Conductor Andrew Powell and the London Philharmonic were on hand as well. Alan Parsons is certainly an acquired taste, coming from the progressive rock genre. I felt compelled to share this information in light of your suggestion that the person responsible for the soundtrack "be shot." Interesting. I am a great fan of both Hauer's films and Parsons' music. Your site is a thorough one, and very well designed. I'm looking forward to updates. Perhaps this could be one of them. While I don't hate the soundtrack to "Ladyhawke," I agree that, for the virgin audience, it does seem a little heavy-handed and out of place. My advice? Buy the soundtrack. It includes a wonderful booklet filled with photos of "Our Boy," and statements by all involved, including director Richard Donner (who met and fell in love with his wife during shooting of the film). If nothing else, consider the soundtrack, like many of Hauer's own films, to be a courageous experiment. |

| Comments: | Being the grandaughter of Dominico Modugno, I am in the entertainment circle and recently was introduced to Rutger Hauer through a mutual friend of the family. I found him to be a very sexy man and quite intelligent. He speaks Italian nicely and has the most incredible blue eyes I have ever seen. Although our meeting was brief, he was as fascinating in person as he is on screen. This is one man who really looks a lot like what you see on tv, which is usually not the case. The years didn't hurt him a bit. In fact, they have given him character and a rather boyish charm. Wow! He was amazing! He is educated about what is going on in the world, speaking briefly about Enron and how many companies were affected, like a bank I worked for that the news has not caught up with yet. The last time I saw him doing an interview was with David Letterman, and I know he was offended from a comment he made about his accent. Rutger had the last laugh by saying he speaks several languages and asked how many David spoke. I gained tremendous respect for him after that, because I too had to learn the English language and understand the difficulty involved. I don't feel as though the western world appreciates this man's talents and I wish there was a way to knock on Hollywood's door and tell them that he is very valuable. | Comments: | I was on the island of Grand Manan, New Brunswick, just a few weeks after Mr. Hauer filmed the location (lighthouse) shots for Hemoglobin. The islanders were still quitely abuzz about the "big Hollywood shoot". As a huge fan of both Grand Manan and of Mr. Hauer, I have been looking forward to seeing the movie (which I doubt was ever released commercially in Ottawa, Ontario). Unfortunately, I have been unable to locate the film on video. Your excellent site has given me a lead... the alternate name for the movie is listed as "Bleeders" and perhaps I will have more luck finding it under that name. Love your site. I think he's the greatest actor of this century!! He always surprises me, and his versatility is just amazing. Saw him recently in Keetje Tippel (spelling?)--wonderful. Love Hostile Waters which took great courage to do. Just bought The Hitcher which is one of the most terrifying performances I have ever seen. Bone Daddy has been on recently which is terrific. Love Ruby Ring which is delightful; love Fatherland and the book is terrific too. Adore the "death scene" on the Bradbury Building's Roof in Blade Runner, and that fabulous scene on the elevator after dear ole Roy kissed-killed his creator. Those eyes! I am just rambling because I'm rushing here at my nypl in hot Manhattan. Did you see him in that moving, poignant scene at the end of The Beans of Egypt, Maine? The man is incredible. I could on and on. Nighthawks (which has been on in Spanish recently--Ch 47--Halcones de la Noche!) shows his full range portraying a classic constitutional psychopath (forgive my spelling). I am furious that they have cut the last scene where poor Stallone tries to get back his movie. Too late! Go back to weight training. It's a superb movie and Rutget Hauer has turned it into a Classic for all time. I love him and his movies. Watch him as that naughty Albert Speer in two key scenes: Hitler seducing him with that 1931 Munich speech and the scene in the Bunker when Speer hears of Hitler's death. Too, too much. Must go.
