I checked the photo of your injury. How Awful! Are you still unable to work ? My only encounter with Family was a concert they did in Cairns back in 1974. I was a long way from the Lord, but my wife worked at the local radio station, and we used to get free tickets for all the performers who came to town. I had no idea they were Christian, but I had such a sense of God's presence during the performance, and such a yearning to have that relationship with Him that was so evident in Family's music. Even with todays modern changes to the music world, I still favor their music arrangement and how well the trio are truly gifted and talented in performing some of the reknown songs in history that I commend very much. I only had the Key Of Love album and never thought they were huge group till I visited their site thanks to Chris. I lost the album though but I have never forgot their lyrics and music. I am in Santiago for work and just thought I would google my dad to see what came up! I know we have some photos of Dad playing with Family, I think at a Coffee Shop reunion...or maybe it was somewhere else. I will ask Mum and try and scan them to you. I remember being so proud watching Dad up there with them, singing something about 'I put my thumb between the pages, and my heart in the book....badump boom boom bomm - talkin bout the book of life" The actions were great :) Thanks for all the work you have put into this site, I had now idea Family were so successful.

I am researching information about my friend Rev. Ian Smallbone who lived here in Laidley for about seven years. Ian has been recorded by United Soul Productions here in Laidley and will be included in a CD which will be launched in Laidley on Sunday 28th November 2010. The venue is the Laidley Uniting Church Hall at 6.30pm. A welcome is extended to all to attend and meet with Ian and the other artists who will be on the CD. | Comments: | I too saw Family at the Opera House back in the 70's (I think!) - it was a real thrill (and I remember their humour - they did a satirical song about politics: 'When the left wing claps the right wing flaps' - or something like that!!)
My three daughters (teenagers) have all grown up with the Family album I have on cassette - the songs are family favourites and we have all always loved listening to them. Great to see this site, thanks for creating it. |

| Comments: | Knew the guys fairly well through Coffe House Ministry in Sydney in Sydney and invited them to Narrandera NSW for a specail Rally and concert in the 70's. My eldest son still remembers them coming to our home and his excitement. They were his first experience of a live, and in his words, "famous group". | Comments: | My name is Essau Kelep and I live in Papua New Guinea. My parents used to listen to cassettes by “Family” in the 80’s when I was still a kid and I guess their songs kind of got etched into my mind.
I think we had the “Best of Family” album. The album had the song “Fine Love” which was my favourite. The cassettes were lost a couple of years ago. Thus I am writing to ask if there is any way I can get “Family” albums in mp3 format (for free, if possible). In PNG, it’s quite hard to find albums like this. I haven’t heard their songs in a long while and would really like to hear their songs again. They were a very good band. By the way, nice Website dedicated to “Family”. |

Faith in God is believing that God is and is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Faith in God boils down to just one thing, will you trust Him in life’s greatest trials? Paul the Apostle was a prisoner on a ship, when a great storm arose. The ship was in great danger of sinking, but God spoke to Paul by an angel who told him that if they all stayed in the ship it would not sink, and they would all be saved. What trust this took, how many of us would have tried some other way, maybe by swimming, or clinging to some piece of old wood. Paul’s words of faith and trust in God brought them all to safety, but the ship was lost. Dear Saints, when the wind blows and the storms of life crashes against you, hold on tight to God’s promises and rest in His peace, for He said, “ I am mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea”, {Psalm 93 v 4}. Jesus was in a boat in lake Galilee when a great storm arose, yes He was fast asleep, but His disciples were in great panic and distress. How could Jesus sleep through such a storm? Because He totally trusted His Heavenly Father. In great panic His disciples shook Him and woke Him up, and said “don’t you care if we perish? ”Jesus replied,” “Where is your faith?” And He gave a command for the storm to cease. And if you put your total unwavering trust in Him, He will command that storm in your life to cease.
