Standard problems include those of free will, personal identity, mind-body problem, other minds, computationalism, etc. The philosophers of mind deal with metaphysics as it is concerned with the nature of mental phenomena, how mental phenomena are related to natural phenomena, and philosophical psychology broadly construed. Philosophy of psychology is sometimes considered as a subfield of philosophy of mind. However it is, perhaps, more closely related to philosophy of science. While the great philosophical distinction between mind and body in western thought can be traced to the Greeks, it is to the seminal work of René Descartes. The history of philosophizing about the relation of body and mind since Descartes is the history of attempts to escape the Cartesian impasse. Early maneuvers of this sort, such as those of Malebranche, Spinoza, Leibniz, and the French materialists La Mettrie and Cabanis, were formulated in the context of metaphysics, in direct response to Cartesian dualism. Later views which arose in the 19th century needed to reconcile evidence from studies on the localization of cerebral function and on functional nervous disorders with prevailing theory in biology and psychology. These discussions reflected the newly accepted view that the brain serves as the organ of mind. Although these theories of mind/brain relations -- epiphenomenalism, interactionism, dual-aspect monism, and mind-stuff theory -- were formulated in the context of science, they too were oriented toward circumventing the Cartesian impasse. And nowhere, can the case be made, is His hidden genius more evident, or more concealed, than in the singular character of Judas Iscariot. Not just the world's ultimate traitor, but thrice called devil, and to top it all thief, the name of Judas Iscariot has, for nearly two thousand years, borne more of the world’s ill-will and rancor than any other name or figure, factual or fictional, ever created. Here is an individual about whom nothing at all remotely decent is even implied in the madly popular book in which he’s presented to the world; so that an entire civilization has been built around the premise that a certain Judas Iscariot is the most vile and contemptible creature in all of God's good universe. While his detractors and their adherents, the most powerful religious body ever assembled, not content with the blood that was shed on their behalf by their Lord, have committed so many crimes and outrages against heaven and humanity, that the thought naturally arises, perhaps Judas was right.
And wouldn't it be just like the God of Jacob to hide Himself in he folds of His enemies' book ? In the same way that Jacob came before his blind father dressed, in the goodly raiment of his elder twin brother, that smelled of a field which the Lord had blessed. And so it is in a field, a field of blood, a metaphorically fair and fertile field, where the soil is as rich and as red as Edom, that we last hear tell of poor Judas, in fully two separate versions of his supposed earthly end. Although it's never actually told that he’s dead. And curiously, despite having a heap of dirt thrown on him, no mention of any burial is ever made. Instead we are led to believe that he has hung himself in the plot which was purchased with the wages of his much-bruited betrayal ( though strangely, nothing is said about being hung on a tree, as might be supposed). Or that he was fallen headlong in the field in question, and bursting asunder, spilled his guts as it were upon the ground. And then he disappears from public view; after being on display just long enough to be planted in humanity's collective subconcious. And there is if you observe closely, something other than the obvious going on here. For with the Bible's pervasive and finely wrought use of pastoral imagery in mind, what is it, at the beginning of spring which is when these events were to have taken place, that gets hung in a field, on a post, to help it grow upright? A grapevine would supply an effective answer, and this of course is a traditional symbol representing Israel; a prodigious vine that would be trampled upon and made desolate by strangers, and then, as it's written, restored. And looking at the other account of his purported death, how he took a pitched fall into his field, otherwise known as a burying place for strangers,where he was broken open, and left his vital organs to mingle with the earth; if you are able to see the abstract and rather beautiful description of a seed, a holy seed being sewn in all of this, then you might have found your spiritual home, here, at The House of Judas. The house of Judas being where the apostle formerly known as Saul from Tarsus came to have his eyesight restored, after his vision of Christ left him babbling and blinded by the side of the road, on the way to Damascus. And like a highway in the desert made straight for the Lord, it was a on a street called Straight no less, look at this, at the house of Judas, where being three days and three nights without anything to either drink or eat, the chosen vessel of the Lord sat down to meat. My thanks are extended to the author of this site, as there are many so-called christians that appear to be totally unaware of the foundation of their belief...and I ask that you take the last fragment of that sentence with a grain of salt. First of all, I liken this to the "Construction" of a house..and since the Messiah was knowledgeable of the art of carpentry, I would venture to say that my choice in analogy would be right on. When a house is built, the foundation is the most important factor of the structure. It must be basically solid within and without, key areas which would be most attracted to stress would be considered and reinforced...upon this foundation a home will be built. Down through the course of time...the house survives, however, little by little, due to maliciousness, carelessness, the foundation is threatened, perhaps through carelessness, destruction, maliciousness, a brick removed here or there, repeatedly...soon the home is threatened...and collapses. As you can see, the foundation is the supporting factor for what remains to follow...the home itself. Judaism is the foundation of what followed as Pauline Christianity. Christianity is nothing more than a radical, political movement away from mainstream Judaism...in otherwords, a cult movement for the jews who no longer wanted to uphold the traditions, festivals and rites of the Jewish People. Let me remind those of the protestant faith...Ya'Shua (Jesus, Yeshua) was a jew...who upheld those tenants...to the letter. He was not a *Christian*...nor would he be amused or pleased with a belief system of hypocrisy, criticism, judgmental attitudes that reflect his name. Only recently did it actually hit me how far from the truth most christians are about the messiah. They have created a controlling, belittling, pathetic cult worship of a concept that they know very little about. Even the New Testament of the King James Bible have deliberately without provocation deleted an enormous portion of the messiah's life...as another control mechanism to the people. A couple of nights ago, two individuals came to my neighborhood from the Burgaw Independant Baptist Church in Burgaw, North Carolina. As a courtesy, I invited them in and accepted their complimentary flyers that wreaked of hellfire and damnation. In my neighborhood, I am flanked by a Southern Baptist Church, A Catholic Church, A Freewill Baptist Church, A Jewish Messianic Synagogue.. These nervous individuals came in and sat down in my living room and commenced to question my "Salvation". "Are you saved"? "Yes," I replied...humoring them but fully understanding the nature of salvation as a cornerstone to their dogma. "Have you been washed in the blood of Calvary and do you accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your saviour who died so that you might live"? the elder gentlement retorted, seemingly agitated and getting all worked up...for whatever reason. "I'm aware of what you are talking about as I am Jewish Messianic by faith, but I refer to him as Ya'Shua (God With Us)"..I finally stated. "Well, you know in Acts, you must believe in Jesus Christ..for he is the only way. I am the way, the truth and the life, noone comes to the father except through me." He had started his scriptural rhetoric and I knew this was moving toward the finale. To end the moment..I explained to him that although I did not like to place a tag on my beliefs, I am more intune with the Jewish Messianic structure than any other..however, I visit the Catholic Church, Pentecosal, Charismatic...for all the paths lead to the same destination...in my opinion. He not only said that I was the daughter of satan, but that my son was the son of satan..(Actually, he must have known my ex-husband!..haha) However, in my studies of high magick, occult and metaphysics...I realized I had invited pure unmitigated evil into my home...and that scared me. As they left...I had a shiver come over me...and realized they were leaving my home to go to another, whom may be completely sucked into this Daemonic form of worship and belief. My 14 year old son, witnessed the entire event...and told me later..."They are not who they claim to be"...and I knew he as well picked up on this negative entity that visited our home. I caution you against...these belief systems that would have you believe they have the only path...and if you do not believe as they do that you are destined for hell and damnation. In the book of revelation, it states, there will be false prophets rising up proclaiming in his name....whose name? Jesus...Iseious Christos..? Or Ya'Shua (God With Us). Shalom, Hashem Lady Myste |

your facts. Christians do not believe in salvation by "good works." Most Christians believe that faith in Christ as the Son of God is the only requirement for salvation (i.e. the thief on the cross). Thanks for your apparent interest in getting things right, though. |

My question is: Is God a man/woman/or an "it" I mean, most of us see God as a male, as he is called the Father, but what if He turned out to be a Mother? Just because we live in a male dominated society, we see God as being male.
