| Comments: | Hello, My name is Todd, I'm a retired USAF and disabled veteran that can't work anymore and I've been filling my time for the last few years with my flock of mixed birds. I have an African Grey named Burt, he's the greatest funniest guy I've ever seen!!! I just love to sit and talk with him and listen to his sounds!!! He amazes me every day with his intelligence and mimicry!!! I also have 2 male Yellow Nape Amazons named Sydney and Sammy that were bredders and I bought them from the same person a few months apart. After I got those two I bought a female Double Yellow Headed Amazon named Tammy whose owner had passed away. She too is a hoot!! Almost every day she says something else that's new and makes me laugh!! She actually didn't start back talking until after she and Sydney had been living together about a year. Needless to say it was a HUGE surprise to hear her start talking just out of the blue!! She first just started calling me Papa and she's just gone from there!! Since she's been here she and Sydney have fallen in love! They've been a happy couple for a couple of years now. I've given them a new large cage with a nesting box but so far no little ones. I also adopted a Nanday Conure from one of my wife's friends that claimed it was too loud!! Not in my house he isn't!! His name is Pico. a couple of years ago I was given a Senegal parrot named Sammy (called little Sammy). They actually told me he was a "Devil Bird"!! Well with love and patience he's turned into a sweet and loving little fella that loves to do tricks to please me!! Before I got most of my parrots I had some cockatiels. After some more adoptions and babies I've kept I now have seven. I love my birds greatly!!! The African Grey and all three amazons were breeder birds that we've been training to be pets and have made good progress. It's amazing what some love, patience and kindness will do to rehab a breeder! We (my wife helps me a LOT), love them all very much!!! Since I'm disabled I couldn't do this without my wife's help. I wanted to let you know that I still have some more room in my bird room (and in my heart and life), for another parrot or two if you have any that need a GOOD LOVING HOME!!! We live in York, Pa. so if you have any semi-close to here please let me know!!! It's really all I have to keep me sane and the love we give each other is amazing!!! I wish I would have become a bird lover sooner in life!! I retired from the USAF in 1997 and got to where i couldn't work around 2003. Since then I've gotten birds and worked and studied to learn what I needed to make their lives more enjoyable and full!! I'm sure I've blabbed enough!! Thanks for your site and your love for these birds, they ALL need our love, especially the "special" ones!! Thanks, Todd Thomas, USAF Retired (717)-202-3743 |
