I will always say a special prayer for Frank whenever I am mindful of that tragic day especially since we share the same name but also because I had the great joy and privelege of studying nursing at Hunter College with a terrific group of fire fighters (1976-1979, and I have the utmost respect and reverence for these dedicated, heroic men. May the pain of his loss be diminished by the
love that he showed for "greater love has no man than to give his life for his friend." Thank you Frank, and thanks to your loving family. |

I was somehow drawn to Frank Callahan's name on this site.
I teach Fire Safety to the 5th grade in Spring Grove,MN
Part of my program is to give each of my students a name and perhaps a picture of one of our fallen FDNY heros for them to keep and carry with them as they grow.
It will take years to reach
343 fifth graders, fore this is a small but close community, however, when I do
I will start the list over again, ensuring them we should never add to this list
and we should never forget.

I just wanted to say Frank seemed like a great guy. Right now I am reading a book about the 40/35 house, and all that happened on the tragic day of 9/11/01.I just admire him a lot because he is one of 12 guys who died at this company and he just seems like he should be a guy to look up to. He served the FDNY for 28 years and i wanted to say thank you to him. I will always remember this company, and Frank i also want to say sorry to every family who lost someone on 9/11, including Frank's family. 343 NEVER FORGET! |

I am a Fire Fighter in Alberta, Canada. The barbaric events of 9-11 seem distant, yet so close as I close my eyes and play back the video of the towers collapsing onto so many of my Brothers. I too will NEVER forget no matter what! I am humbled by the dedication of my Brothers as they performed their duties to save lives that were unsaveable and perish themselves in the process. I did not know a single one of you but when I saw you die I cried for you and prayed that all of you be carried home by the hand of our true and living God. May God bless your families, and your home. Revenge is mine says the Lord, so lets continue to serve those less fortunate the best way we know how and thank God for our freedom to choose forgiveness over hatred! |

To the family of Capt. Callahan and all the other fine firefighters and police officers who lost their lives protecting citizens on 9/11 -- my hat is off to you and I pray for you daily. I am currently reading the book, Firehouse. The story of Engine 40 Ladder 35 is one of devastation, heartbreak, and service. Thank you to the men and families who gave the ultimate sacrifice and thank you to those who continue to so in the tradition of the FDNY. We are eternally grateful! |

The ones who stude up for the RED WHITE AND BLUE on 9-11-01 will never be forgotten in my heart and in my mind. I will always remember |

I did an internship as a teaching assistant in NYC during the summer of 2001. Each Wednesday night we would meet at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. High School on Amsterdam and 65th. While waiting for our meetings we would watch the men of Engine 40, Ladder 35 wash the trucks or head off to calls. It was not until just a few months ago that I heard (on The Discovery Channel's "New York Firefighters" documentary) that the members had been lost. I never knew their names, but I will always hold them in high regard. God bless the families and friends of all who lost their lives trying to help others. |
