I know the Tirado family very well, especially Robert who graduated college with me. I never knew that Hector's children would write such nonsense and not respect their late father's side of the family. I had very little money when I went to school to become a nurse & I would eat at the Tirado's house in Rogers Place where Hector's grandmother would feed me the best PR food in the Bronx. If this person Ashely had any common sense or shame, including gratefulness, she would not be marring her father's good name with conjecture and trying to make her aunts & uncles look bad, because in the end, it is SHE who looks bad. My 2 cents in this matter & power to my friends the Tirados (DJ, Harry (RIP), Henry , Ray, Angie , Hector Sr.(RIP), the ONLY Robert from the Bronx!! Peace and love...

Ashley, I was very disappointed to read your comments about me. Apparently, you are not at all like your wonderful, kind and considerate father, Hector Luis Tirado Jr. I have always worked, I am now a retired Verizon manager of 25 years and I have never asked anyone for a red cent. My parents, David and Maria Teresa Tirado, your father's paternal grandparents taught all of us to work hard every day, unfortunately, some of my family didn't do this and that's why they are in the situation that they are in today. Hopefully, someday you'll learn the real truth about some of the Tirado family, for now, please don't catagorize us all as the same. I hope that your family is healthy and are doing well. Lastly, we miss Hector very much, he spent wonderful days with both my brother Robert and I when your family was in Ohio. And yes, it was family quality time that I'm glad we finally did spend together because Robert and I have wonderful memories of your Dad. I have plenty of pictures to prove it. You are welcome to reply to this note and I'll gladly send you copies of any pictures that you can share with the family. God Bless, Angie Tirado angietirado1@hotmail.com

On behalf of the late Hector Tirado's father side of the family, it is my responsibility to respond to the first note on this column. It is a shame that if this was really sent by his daughter Ashley, it is a reminder of the selfishness and unremorsefulness of those my nephew sired. In terms of money, we are hard working people who don't rely on handouts in order to survive. Where this egregious comment comes from, we don't know or care. What we do know is that Hector was totally the reverse of these moronic comments by others. I knew him well enough to pay for his studio apartment in the Bronx. I wonder where all these people who suddenly "knew" him better get their ideas from. Nonetheless, these people need to go on in their lives just as we have done.

My name is Ashley Tirado. My father "papi" was a victim in the World Trade Center on 911. His name is Hector Luis Tirado Jr., he was a firefighter, engine 23. I have four brothers, two younger ones Denzel and Davon, and two older ones Hector and Ronald. My mom is Sheneque B. Tirado, she is a lovely mother, she been married to my dad for 17 years. They were childhood sweethearts. They both took in hands my dad's siblings and raised them Angel,Roberto, Marina, and David. My dad's side of the family doesn't know anything about me and my brothers. They are all greedy for the money. (Ray,Robert,Angie,Anna, and Angel). I wish we have family that really cares! But, I do now my mom, brothers, sister, and bestfriend! Thank You all for supporting the 911 victims.

Also, IMPORTANT!! NEVER forget the men and women who have died and are dieing today for our Freedom! God Bless the Firefighters and policemen who do it every day and Bless their families when one falls. We appreciate their service here in America. Also, to NEVER forget that our Military is fighting everday to give us the liberty and Justice here in America. There blood is shed everyday in the battlefields and we do not give them the credit they deserve. Men and Women volunteering their lives to makes ours free. I see and hear about protestors picketing at bases and saying things like "You are all just killers". America today needs an eye opener to what our service men are doing for use overseas. Every day our men fight behind our Government and they get little respect from this Country. It would be nice to see more sites dedicated to the men and women devoting their lives to this country because pure patriotism lives in them, they deserve recognition equally!! TWA Military in Iraq, Pakistan......

As a Firefighter/paramedic, I felt tremendous sadness and anger the day FDNY lost their brave souls. As a civilian, I felt shock and horror at the sight I watched from my television that fateful day. I thought of my family in NY, and all of the "Kings" that I never got a chance to really know. I am forever grateful to everyone who gave their lives so that I may still live mine. I continue to carry out my duties and know that should my fate come someday; I will have no fear. I pray for all families who lost their loved ones and have faith that one day, we will meet again without the fear and angst that was bestowed upon us that day. God bless all of us, and may we live in peace from this point on. FDNY, you are always in my heart. From all of your brothers and sisters at Geneva Fire Dept.,Geneva,IL. we love you, and we will never forget.

Thank you for this site. You have done a very good job. It feels very good, as I am a vet myself, to hear that 99% of those signing in understand that the defense of our country and our lifes is not a 9 to 5 thing or for just when you don't have something better to do like college. I am so disturbed by a couple of the people who have commented here. They must have been brought up in a dream world because it is a fact that if we do not fight for our country and defend it with akk our might there are those who would gladly put us and our children to the sword. I guess some of us must also do the fighting for those who want the freedoms and good things we have but are to gutless to fight for them, feeling that they are better people by hiding behind their books. God bless America, our President and all those who have and are defending us.

I pity you. You are ignorant. You're using the brilliant words of my founding fathers in a presentation which is meant to strike fear, anger, and hatred into the hearts and minds of all who see it. Do you even know what Thomas Jefferson was talking about when he said those words about the blood of patriots and tyrants? He was talking about the farmers who participated in Shays's Rebellion. He said that because he was happy that the people were doing their duty and rising up against A GOVERNMENT WHICH WAS OPPRESSING THEM. He was glad that his (and our) beloved declaration of independence was alive and well. You talk about our freedoms and liberties and so on as if we're the only country in the world that possesses them, and you're wrong. And you're also wrong about the Iraq war. It is about oil. Halliburton, the oil company whose former CEO just happens to be Dick Cheney, is raking in millions from Iraq every day because of those oil rigs, while the schools are still closed and hundreds of thousands of people are still without water and electricity. And since you all are so obsessed with September 11, 2001, it seems to me that you're still afraid...But I thought that America would be safer after Saddam was gone! Don't ever forget the words of Franklin Roosevelt: "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." And also since you used Benjamin Franklin I'll answer back with "Whatever begins in anger ends in shame." When the hijackers struck those buildings, they were angry and the next few months ended in the shame of all Americans as well as the rest of the world. Now we've invaded a sovereign country against the will of all the people in the world except for George W Bush, Tony Blair, and half of the American population. Guess how we will all end up...in shame. What we're doing is shameful and I think the founding fathers, whom I've been studying for the past 3 1/2 years in college, would be appalled at the reputation we've bestowed on a country they worked so hard to develop! And just two more things: Samuel Adams was talking to the Englishmen who were fighting against the Americans in that quote...It has nothing to do with America today and frankly it makes no sense to use that particular quote. Also, don't try to use the Good Book to justify your hate and anger. That book was written thousands of years ago over a period of a thousand years in a language you've never even heard of, so find a different way to argue okay? And please, for the love of America, EDUCATE YOURSELVES! Ignorance is what has brought us to these turbulent times! And if you're going to make a memorial to those who have given us our freedoms, do it with some decency and maybe show something from WWII and the American Revolution, the only 2 wars that have even come close to providing us with freedom. And again, don't use quotes when you aren't aware of the context. God Bless Texas!

As I was on vacation last year, I read the book Report from ground zero by Dennis Smith. I could not put it down and I wept for days. There was a story that touched me. It was about a father (Lee Ielpi, also a firefighter) searching tirelessly for 93 days for his son Jonathan Ielpi who was a firefighter that died on 9-11. They found him on December 12th. My son's name is Jonathan and this is why this man's story touched me so deeply. Although I am from Canada, I thank all of the heroes from the U.S.A. that saved so many lives as I beleive mine was also saved in some way. I have great respect and admiration for all Americans. An American flag stands tall in front of my house in memory of those who died on 9-11. It seems to bother many people in my small community but what's important is that I know and that my children know who it is for and really, who cares what poeple think. God bless the U.S.A. I appreciate what all the heroes did for us that day. It changed my life in many ways.

As I sit here writing this I am crying. My tears started from rage towards the cowards that I can't get my hands on. Then moved to sorrow for those innocent brave souls that I can't wrap my arms round. Now they stream in overwhelming pride of our brothers and sisters that have cut the path for the rest of us to follow. The impact in this mailing is so powerful that I warn you all to prepare yourselves. All of us who remain to live each day as a proud independent child of God must remember that each day of our lives is a gift not a right. It is this mans opinion that the gift of life comes through love. A love so powerful that no mere man or woman could have possibly created it. I believe it is our (certainly my) duty to the giver of life that we some how try accomplishing the impossible of becoming selfless loving beings. With the exception of the birth of my children I have never been moved like this. None of what we have here in this life is ours, it is offered to us to be built upon and returned. There is camping rule that if you come upon an empty cabin it is yours to use as long as you leave it in better condition than you found it. If it works for camping it should work for living. God Bless all the people of the world.

hi folks, i'm one of many, many ppl who you never see. i'm currently activated in support of iraqi freedom. my job is air transportation. i ship things like bombs and support equipment for aircraft. me and my friends all work behind the scenes but we all do our best to get the things to where they're needed. we are on call anytime and we work days, nights, weekends, and holidays. we do whatever is needed to support the schedule....and yes, we're pissed. we're pissed because some religious idiots decided to do unbelievable things. so, as you go about your daily lives, remember we're behind the scenes doing what needs to be done to move things needed in places where our brothers in arms need them. this is our way of remembering all the families who lost loved ones on that dark day.

i still remember everything of that day, i work the 3rd shift and was on my way home when the radio station i listen to brike in with the news...i was utterly stunned and sped up to get home. i turned on the tv and went to wake up my boyfriend when the news came that the pentagon had been hit, i sat and cried for the people that was lost but also that my children would be coming home with questions i couldn't answer.hoping against hope that they would never have to see war and terrorism, alas that hope was taken away, when it came to our homeland..my prayers and thoughts go to the families at this time on the 2nd anniversary. my god touch and comfort you.

In times past all the trajedies our nation endures should be remembered periodically. As one massacre in Texas 1836 coined the phrase "Remember the Alamo";so should we all Remember forever the towers. If we are having a long wait due to being checked for bagage or personal things we are wearing, "Remember the Towers" If the mail comes late cause it is being checked for many things that might have been detected, "Remember the Towers". If I am mad at the government cause they are doing something that seems to make my life miserable,"Remember the Towers".

First I'd like to applaud your efforts for making this website and the Flash animation and of course the heroic behavior of those fire fighters and police officers who put their lives on the line to save so many people. Secondly, I'd like to bring up the most important aspect of 9.11 that's often overlooked: "Why?" Why did Osama get so angry at us that he'd do all this? To answer that you'll have to forget all that you think you know about bad guys in turbans with guns in a desert. Forget everything you've been told about Osama and Hussein and start over--clean slate. And do your own research on the Internet and by reading and look at what was going on in the Middle East in the four years that led up to this unspeakable act... Search for "turkmenistan pipeline osama" and just read. Read everything and then read some more. Like me, I think you won't have any more respect for the bad guys than you did before. But like me I think you'll redefine just who "bad guys" really encompasses. Don't think for one minute that I'm also not a patriot. I'm the kind of patriot--like Thomas Jefferson or Ben Franklin--who is not pacified by the media's and the government's take on what's happening in front of me. There's almost always a more complicated story if you look behind the scenes. Yes, it's good to remember 9.11, but especially so when you know WHY it occurred in the first place. Don't just sit there and look at the pictures and say "OMG! That's terrible. Those poor people." Read. Find out. And then, be angry. And then, *remember*.

What has gone down was the product of failed foreign policy fueled by middle east and U.S. secular special interests who handily buy our politicians support. The money we pour into Isreal is the issue here. View this video and realize the true blame lies in Washington.

When I saw it on the TV I thought that it was a fluke thing and then when I saw the second plane hit the tower I knew that there was something wrong. I will never forget the men and woman that risked their lives to save the remainder of the people inside the towers. THANK YOU!

Thank you, Jim Byers and all others responsible for "Blood of Heroes". I, for one, will never forget; the feeling I had as the second plane hit, as the towers fell, as firefighters and cops, EMTs and civilians helped victims and each other, as New York bravely stood amidst the carnage and shook her fist at those responsible, as the nation wept, as our leaders wept privately but stood publicly and spoke in muted tones of you brave souls who worked past the point of exhaustion to recover what remained, of the lost ones who would never return home, and of finding those who perpertrated this heinous act. I will never forget those who laughed and joked while our president spoke to the world on 9/13.....don't YOU forget. I will never forget the ache in my chest or the tears which flowed silently down my face as I worked that day, unstoppable and unending. I will never forget trying to explain to my eight year old daughter how such evil could exist in her world and her look of utter confusion upon realizing some could be so hateful of others. I will never forget holding my wife as she cried for your brothers and sisters, as I cried with her. I will never forget. Thank you NYFD, NYPD, and all who stand between us and evil and hatred. Our love and prayers are with you still.

I pray that the blood of heroes was shed to bind us together as a people, not tear us apart because of race, religion, political persuasion or personal belief. God bless America....

I will never forget. I awoke sick that morning before anything happened only to wake to the deaths and voilation of our country. My home rests at the southern point of the airport in Hartford CT next to the main highway and for the most erie moment, life stood still. Lost lives, feeling unsafe, the absense of air flight, car travel, and life's noises - as in that moment that I stood in the silence following the attacks, the whole world mourned. Thank you for making this a way for all to keep remembering.

No one values freedom more than those of us that have come to this country from other less fortunate countries. It is very sad to hear politicians cry about the price of freedom. Unfortunally having this freedom is not free. We must continue to fight for it, and in so doing, hoping that our children and their children will have the freedoms we have enjoyed, and... yes... God bless the United States.

I was at my daughter's staying so I could be with her at the hospital the next day waiting for our 5th grandbaby to be born! I will never forget that day, and how glued to the t.v. set we were! The 12th is when our baby boy was born, and everyone was so glued to the t.v., that they almost forgot our daughter was having contractions! She had to say, "you guys, I'm having pain here!" That is on a funny note on such a sad outcome for our country! I love America and what it stands for!..Jean C. Morris

I do not believe anyone will forget. I would like those responsible for this horror to be brought to justice. Declairing war on a country that had nothing to do with it has caused more lives and Blood shed and can only put us at a higher risk of retaliation from a part of the world that really hates us. We are now stuck and for the most part faceing it alone. God Help us all.

I would like to thank each and everyone of you that protect my precious country, all branches of the military, all police personnel, and firefighters. You don't have an easy job, and sometimes you are not appreciated but from the bottom of my heart, "Thank you". It is hard to believe that almost two years has passed since our land was terrorized. Almost daily, I remember how different my life has been since the terrible attack in New York, Washington, D.C., and the airline crash in PA. I have seen more people willing to admit that we may have our problems but they love our country and would be willing to do anything to keep her safe and protect!! To all the women, men, and child, that passed on that day, my thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends. You will never be forgotten.
