Two nights ago while leveling up in FFIX, listening to my stereo in the background, not really paying attention to the game, I discovered what is possibly the biggest secret in the game. A hidden character!!! Not some optional character like Vincent In FFVII, I'm talking about a full blown hidden character like Gogo in FFVI. Before I go any further I have one thing to say, Square and whoever puts out your guide books, *&#@ you for promising us every secret at twenty something bucks and leaving this out. Her name is not given (only blank spaces are shown on the rename screen), but she is without a doubt Zidane's sister. Who would have known that she is a playable character? You get her by fighting in the woods around the black mage village, but I don't know all of the specifics. When I got her, all of my characters except Zidane were knocked out and Zidane was at 1 HP. Just as the monster I was fighting (Dracozombie) lunged toward Zidane to take the last hit, she appeared on screen to save Zidane. (be careful she has no healing powers and cannot use items during the fight, she also has a very low HP and is only at level 8). You are able to rename her after the fight and she joins your party. Only a little bit of dialouge takes place between her and Zidane after the fight(I won't spoil it) and then she remains quiet the rest of the game. However, after leveling her up, even partially, she is amazing to use in fights. Her special move is similar to Zidane's steal except she captures the monsters for one time summons instead of stealing from them. Her Trance allows her to kill any non-boss monster in one hit!!! I haven't found one that doesnt work yet. To those reading this I am 99.8% sure this secret only works on disc four. If any one else has discovered this secret or read about it on the web please email me. |
