Comments:Iraq: A Chain of Opposition Can Begin Now Whereas the Bush Administration has conducted a war in Iraq which is morally, politically and humanely unjust, Whereas over one million innocent men, women and children have perished in this war and countless thousands of combatants have lost their lives, Whereas the US-led counter-insurgency operations, including massive attacks on cities like Falluja, have led to substantial mortality and large displacement of hundreds of thousands of people. According to UNHCR, there are 1.9 million internally displaced people in the country and 2 million refugees escaped to neighboring countries, especially Syria and Jordan. Unemployment and poverty have risen sharply. According to the United Nations Development Programme, one-third of the population now lives in poverty. Education has broken down. Further, Iraqis basic needs in drinking water, food, sanitation and electricity are not met. Hospitals lack basic medical supplies and are understaffed, Whereas the international relief system has not been able to respond to the growing humanitarian challenges. International agencies have themselves faced serious problems in reaching Iraqis at risk. Iraq's humanitarian emergency has reached a crisis level that compares with some of the world's most urgent calamities, Whereas the Bush Administration has a green light from Congress to attack Iran with tactical nuclear weapons before the end of his presidency, Whereas the distinguished former Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger has stated that the US is concerned about Iran's control of oil resources, not the country's nuclear supremacy. "Iran has legitimate aspirations that need to be respected," he writes - but those legitimate aspirations do not include control over the oil that the United States and other industrial countries need," Whereas former top American central banker Alan Greenspan has accused the White House of invading Iraq because of a lust for oil, "I'm saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows -- the Iraq war is largely about oil," From his new memoir, "The Age of Turbulence: Adventures in a New World," Whereas I, Robin Chase, have a responsibility as a US Citizen to publicly affirm my opposition to the irresponsible and possible criminal action of the Bush Administration, I hereby publish this testimony via the Internet on Myspace.com in the hope that others will follow my example. There are 200, 000 members online. Together we can spread the message around the world. We will defeat these ill-advised policies by strength of numbers. Comments:Dearest Ethiopians, I am very much pleased to extend my brief message for fellow countrymen, especially for the youth like me about the forth-coming election. As a nation, what are our plans of the coming Ethiopian election? Are we going to fold our hands and see what is happening? Whether we like it or not, none of us cannot escape from participating in politics. We may not participate in politics actively, but we cant ignore it at all. This is because there is not a kind of life or society that politics cannot touch. Be it school life, agriculture, religion, tribe and so on. That is why we need to be keen on in what our politicians do and be ready to respond according to their deeds. As a young man, who has a vision for his beloved country, I believe that this is the right time for this great nation to come together and vote for Unity, Freedom and Prosperity. This only happens if we eat with our stomach but vote with our head. If only we say no to give a free ticket for wicked and corrupt people to rule over us. This is the right time to come together as a nation and discuss the issue and also alert others so as to say no for the leaders who have sold our sovereignty and who ashamed us. Remember, each one of us should be concerned about our beautiful Ethiopia, because the person who ultimately takes over leadership will control you and lead you either heaven or hell. MAY GOD BELSS ETHIOPIA. HABTAMU WALE KENYA. EMAIL: - habreb@yahoo.com

Comments: MirChaw Sinishaw Of Ethiopiawinet Radio The Man with hopeful Tone of Courage! My Appeal to All Ethiopians By Getachew Reda (San Jose, California) Last night I happened to visit an Internet website radio hosted by New world Radio (Wust1120.com) to listen my favorite station Ethiopiawinet Radio produced by Ato Mirchaw Sinishaw in the Amharic language the Ethiopian national language. I couldnt find Ethiopiawinet radio from the site even though I look for it thoroughly along the other different radio stations hosted by New World Radio. I found out his radio broadcast was banned from the site for a reason unknown to me. I might have my personal guess for his removal from the station, -if- my guess is right that-, it was the attack and counter attack of misunderstandings of views that was going on for a while between other Ethiopian radio stations and Etiopiawinet radio producer Ato Mircha Sinishaw- therefore- it was unfair for World Radio managements to remove Ato Mirchaw from broadcasting his view of Ethiopiawinet. I am not here leisurely judging who is at fault or who should be removed or stay. My attention is World radio owners must tell us the audiences the reasons for their decision to remove Ato Mirchaw from broadcasting his view of Ethiopiawinet. As long as the radio sation management keeps ignoring our appeal to tell the audiences for their unfair action- we the audiences will call a wide protest against the station managements and we will also call all Ethiopian business sectors that broadcast their business advertisements in such radio station. Those who ignore our calls will also face a wide protest and boycott against their business. I am here calling in fairness of Ethiopiawint judgment. This is a fellow who did a tremendous Ethiopiawinet task and brought a collective courageous spirit to challenge the ugly when every ugly thing ends at a click of a second to destroy and tarnish the face of Ethiopia and Ethiopiawinet while many of us are taking comfortable nap. Regardless of what he said or what he did in his broadcast or in action against his adversaries- all of his adversaries were not nice and sweet as HALaWA (the Arabic ward Caramela) either. We have to be nave to let such guy go out of sight and everything will be rosy and smooth. His removal will only discourage and hurt our struggle and spirit. As one Ethiopian political scientist put it Is it the end of history or the beginning of history? Simple mortals wonder, not knowing whether they are going or coming with the arrow of time. If there is a shift that is necessary to break habits of conflict, I will agree shift (a new action) is necessary. But are we all of us ready for such change? Or are we only demanding and complaining a positive change from somebody alone- while- we ourselves are not free from the boundless wave of attack- particularly when it comes to our compatriots? Removing Ethiopiawinet voice from the page of the historical struggle will only encourage Fragmentation, marginality, hopelessness, negative impacts. I have many Heroes- Mirchaw is one of them. I dont know him personally, but I knew him through my Ethiopiawinet soul. I can smell and feel the Ethiopiawinet fragrant from far distance whether the respondent wind is a counter fit or not. Few have the power and gift to turn the sleeping climate into an active and breathy. One of them is Mirchaw. His positive contribution is way heavier than his weakness (if at all he have a weakness- I dont know yet). I have a special honor for this fellow Ethiopian for calling all of us in his broadcast to not forget Ethiopiawinet using his time, his money, and his energy. How cruel can we be to work for his removal from the broadcast of Ethiopiawinet? If this is the work of his opponents- I think- it is the worst mistake they did. I am very positive who ever they are they will loose my support in the future. It is overwhelming!! I do worry and care and respect a lot about different political opposition groups.-But- I worry and respect a lot about individuals who have a powerful voice about Ethiopiawinet who can beat back hopelessness. Mirchaw was one of the very, very few individual nationalists, who have a tone of optimistic courage. One of the radio station who got into attack said during attack & counter attack against Ato Mirchaw Sinishaw (not exact word when translated the Amharic to English but..similar to the quoted next the guy is driven with no substance of knowledge but only emotions defending in behalf of another radio station. As brother Professor Mammo Muchie from England four years a go on his article ^ A Millennium Year Resolution for Ethiopia^ ..Such historical points come often with opportunities and dangers. They test the human mettle. The unfortunate lose out and the fortunate make something of such turning points. Those who make it read in the change from one to two a new tone and the temper of the times and lives to come. A hopeful tone encourages an optimist temper and can feed imaginations. A negative tone feeds pessimism and cynicism and generates a pessimist temper, which destroys imagination. A society, which is driven by lack of imagination, is as good as dead. Danger concentrates when imagination dies. Therefore, it is sad to loose one courageous voice from the struggle. It makes me frustrated when individuals are forced to with draw their voices from hope and positive imaginations. While posting this appeal to all Ethiopiawinet souls in the websites, I am also sending the same copy to New World Radio to reconsider their unfair decision. It is the Ethiopiawinet agenda we cant offer to loose!

Comments:alenalki.com 19 September 2003 Ethiopia' "New" Political Party; Its Members and Dr. Beyene Petros By Asmerom Kidane Ethiopian websites and their cyber war mongers are on the air and with high gears again. This time they are hailing the formation of a new political party named The Union of Ethiopian Democratic Forces, in short- UEDF. We are told that this is a congloromate of fifteen opposition parties who claim to be at odds with the minority regime in Mekele. At face value this development may appear to be the right turn of event for Ethiopians, for the country and its neighbours and that this will augur the beginning of the end of the despised Weyane leadership. However when one undertakes an analytical investigation of the composition of the member groups and after reading the recent manifesto of this 'party', one is led to conclude that the UEDF is a fix and mix of old Amhara chauvinists and elitists under of the old but fake slogan of "Unity of Motherland or Death! The party also includes some urban terrorists during the Dergue era if the 1970's. It appears that the main mission of this newly formed "party" is to try to return back to the old glories of the imperial past. Three major and popular political parties- the OLF ( Oromo Liberation Front), The Sidama liberation Front (SLF) and The Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) have officially and jointly expressed their strong misgivings regarding the motive of the new party's political venture as it fails to address pressing socio economic and political issues facing this unfortunate country. Immediately after the formation of the party and before opening an office, its leaders parroted their archaic and age old standing questioning the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Eritrea. This written declaration is incoherent and full of internal contradictions-in a next paragraph they acknowledge Eritrean sovereignty but declare that the Algiers Peace Agreement as null and void and that the final and binding ruling of the Border Commission as flawed and discriminatory. This odd group does not seem to address some glaring national issues such the mismanagement of the Ethiopian economy by the Weyane, the wishes and aspirations of various nationalities, poverty, HIV/AIDS and other variables that continue to inflict heavy damage on the Ethiopian people. Fortunately most of the fifteen political groupings that make up this so called party do not have popular base; Ethiopians don't even know if they ever existed before let alone their programmes. Some of them are literally 'a one man or a solo member 'parties. Among the affiliate members one finds the EPRP (Ethiopian Peoples Revolutionary Party) and AESM or MEISON (All Ethiopia Socialist Movement). These two parties are known for the horrendous crimes they committed against the Ethiopian youth in the late 1970's and early 1980's. In the name of White Terror (EPRP) and Red Terror (MEISON) they are responsible for one of the worst crimes in Africa's recent history. The leaders of these two criminal organizations are still at large and on the "most wanted" list. The leader of one of the fifteen odd parties (The Oromo National Congress) is Merrera Guinea; a former MEISON member and an avowed enemy of the Oromo people. During the mid 1990s while under the protection of the Weyane government, he wrote a series of highly destructive propaganda pieces attacking the OLF and its leadership. It is believed that the OLF is the most popular and genuine representative of the Oromo people. Dr. Merrera was attacking the OLF when it needed some moral boost, that is, when it was in a bitter political struggle with the Weyanes. Dr. Merrera's party appears to be well christened, but it does not represent a minute fraction of the Oromo people. The new leader of this so called party is Dr. Beyene Petros; a graduate form re known American universities (Wisconsin, Tulane) and a micro biologist at Addis Abeba University. I know Dr. Beyene quite well; he is a friend and I used to respect his wisdom and intelligence. During the Dergue era, we were forced to attend Marxist political indoctrination sessions every month (?). A hopelessly incompetent Dergue functionary was selected to lead the discussion. We were all scared and terrified to argue or raise issues that did not please the so called discussion leader. The only person who challenged this political midget was Dr. Beyene. Surprisingly in spite of his open criticism of the system Dr. Beyene was never questioned or arrested by the military junta of the time. This was indeed curious. During the 1991 transition conference, Dr. Beyene found, led and represented the Haddiya Political Party. The proceedings of the conference were being aired on the national TV. Dr. Beyene was quite articulate and strong in his presentations. He was an avowed supporter of the Eritrean independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. After the meetings I frequently met him either at our work place or at a common friend's house. I clearly remember him expressing his admiration and respect for one of the group of external observers at the Transitional Conference-The high powered Eritrean delegation led by the then Secretary General of the Provisional Government. Dr. Beyene told me that he personally met the Eritrean observers and expressed to them his gratitude for their humane treatment of his captured pilot brother - Colonel Bezabih Petros ! He confidently stated that Ethiopia should never be the same; that the present and future governments should live in peace with their people and their neighbours, that he abhors military conflict and that the domination of Amhara chauvinists/elitists (not the vast majority, ordinary, decent Amharas) should come to an end. About six months after the formation of the Transitional Government the Weyane leadership harassed, intimidated and arrested most of the members of the transitional government. Dr. Beyene was summarily fired from his new post as Vice Minister of Education and his party was paralyzed. Gradually Dr. Beyene drifted backward and smoothly entered into a carefully prepared trap of the Amhara chauvinists. He neglected his constituency (The Haddiyas) and reallocated his time and energy to the old and farce slogan "Unity of the motherland" syndrome. He acquired the requisite political apprenticeship from his new benefactors-the Amhara chauvinists and elitists. For his services he got to be elevated to the chairmanship of this odd political conglomerate-the UEDF. He was crowned with this title, not in Ethiopia but in Maryland USA. Before opening an office in Addis and before constructing an agenda for his new party, Dr. Beyene becomes hostile against the Eritrean leadership, he expresses his disgust by declaring the Algiers Peace Agreement as null and void and the EEBC's final and binding decision as flawed and one sided. He turns 180 degrees and questions the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Eritrea. Regarding the U (or V) turn of Dr. Beyene one can only conclude that this man has been trapped by Ethiopian chauvinists, by those who are responsible for the massacre of Eritrean freedom fighters, by those who are responsible for the humiliation and murder of the Oromos and other nationalities and .yesby those who are responsible for committing crimes and atrocities against the Haddiya people or Dr. Byrne's group. Dr. Beyene is indeed an intellectual disaster. One can only conclude that the Amharic chauvinists had a 'Big Catch!'. They can even trap an intellectual "giant" like Dr. Beyene. They seem to be good at it. As for the "new party's" policy on Eritrea one can simply say that it won't work; as in the past it will lead Abyssinia down the abyss.

Abreham yayeh is a money centered non principled a person ready to sell even his children. Esayas Afeworki is paying him to broker the so called ethiopian oppositions. Usually he is dealing with splinter groups and power ambitious group like EPRP and OLF. Anybody who is dealing with Esayas is Ethiopian enemy number 1 not less than Meles. Mersha and Abrham is dealing with Esayas. Mersha is for power Abraham is absolutely for Frifari for me all of them are our enemy. The will never fool anybody !Guutema Wakene

Comments: Breaking News The EPRP Led Coalition is about to open a regional Heade Quarter in Asmara I obtain today a tangeble information that Mersha Yosef of EPRP, Abreham Yayeh and Colonel Tadesse Muluneh have signed a secret agreement with the leadership of EPLF which gives them to open as a regional head quarter in Asmara and operate as an official representative of the future government of Ethiopia. According to the source the precondition given by the government of ESAYAS to Mersha and Abraham is to call all party conference as soon as possible and to form a transitional government of Ethiopia. The source continues all small parties and individuals are contacted by the Esayas agents except those organization coming from Ethiopia. This leatest development also created a bad Atmosphere among EPRP Members in USA. The press release released by senior members of EPRP in USA also exposed the role played by Mr.Mersha Yosef signing of the secret Docuement on behalf of EPRP. The press release is accusing the leadership of EPRP, The Hibret Radio And Nesanet Le Ethiopia Radio in conspring the national interest colaborating with Mersha Yosef. The paper continues unless corrective measeaure will be taken they are ready to expose the whole situation to the Ethiopian People. Comments:I would love to thank Abera not only for responding positively but also for his honest, simple and humble and genuine Ethiopian feeling and concern. In my all articles that i post on forum i have been suggesting that we should go beyond just talking and try to do something practical as much as we could. I am glad and it is really encouraging to all of us to see some good natured and good hearted Ethiopian contributing their share in nation building. We should stop this culture of blame and accusation and finger pointing. Let every one of us do what we could. Period. That is what our people need. People who have commonsense and who are practical. I can give two examples that i have witnessed in relation to the draught. A lady who manage to have a furnitures business took personal initiative and organised a fundraising program in collaboration with non-government agencies. It does not matter how much money she managed to collect. SHE DID HER PART. Another Ethiopian, an artist, used his arts for a fundraising event to help his fellow Ethiopians. These are two exemplary acts by two individuals. Do we have something similar to offer? Is there any way we can form a foundation? Can we trust each other to run such initiatives? Are we capable of putting national interest first before any personal, political, social or tribal affiliations? Let answer the above questions on the affirmative and discuss on what practical things we can do to our country. Guys, let us be aware of one thing. If Americans have national interest why not us, Ethiopians? If every body goes to the extent of eliminating millions of people for one's national interest, why do not we focus on our national interest without the need to interfer in other people's affair. If we fail in every aspect of our life, we blame no one but ourselves. If we remain archaic, awkward and backward, it is upto every Ethiopian to take responsibility of the state of Affairs. I have never asked what Ethiopia did for me but what i did to Ethiopia. I must admit i have done nothing to my country and that hurts me a lot. WAKE UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR OUR STATE OF THINGS. Once again thanks Abera

Comments:The genius makes wonders and the idiots just look at the wonders and do not appreciate but spoil it. I said this in relation to the modern wonder of computing in general and cyberspace in particular. I am wondering why people do not appreciate the elegance, beauty, overwhelming magic like wonder of cyberspace and keep it sane, if not sacred, make it a space to make sense of our global and nationality and so on. Instead, some guys just popp in and drop their junk. I am one of those who try to defend every one's right of expression online or off line. I am just pleading to make the most use of the space to help ourselves-our country. To the few comments on the new press law I could not agree more. As our traditional saying goes YEFERI DULA BEZU NEW. The government brings this legislation that legislation, this law, that law as if the country is short of laws and regulations. EPRDF seems really scared of the media want to control it formally with no confrontation as the previous governments used to do. Hey, guys, why do we need press law now after ten years. Are the journalists getting crazy or the government getting insecure? I would prefer to say the latter. Let me leave at that. What are the pressing issues, the immediate and urgent things we Ethiopians need to do? This is what we need to focus about and commit ourselves. take care

Comments:Hello, Some people have this problem, hating the free press, hammering the free journalists. Bereket simon, an Eritrean minster of information is one of them. This Eritrean guy (Bereket Simon)is the one who come with this new press law idea, his ultimate goal is to criple the free media as Isayas Afeworki did in Asmara. Why you are expecting the free media to support the woyane gvt? There are already some of EPRDF organs and media... fana, walta, abyotawi demo, mahtot, addis zemen and so on are more than enough to inject their poison to our people. These are the organs who are propagating for the dictator government. com`on now, how the voice of the people (free press) going to be corupted itself and propagate for the woyane goverenment? What are you expecting from woyane/EPRDF? They are all anti-Ethiopians and Ethiopia, how come you dare to say that this blood sucker should be praised by the free press? Shame on you!!

Comments:Dear Serekebirhan, I enjoyed the reading. Thanks for coming up with such theosophical approaches to define a true warrior. If i understand the text correctly, it indicates that we should be an interior warrior, that is, wage mental, psychological and spiritual war on ourselves as individuals before we take the challenge of inviting others to struggle. I do absolutely agree. While enjoying the reading i was wondering about the source. Is it Bhagavad githa, Kama Sutra, theosophy or someone's thesis on the personality of true warrior. Please allow me to use the seven standards to examine our national thinking. 1. Is openness and imagination a quality many of us do possess? Given the culture secretiveness in almost every thing and the culture of "between me and you..." we must admit we lack openness. Imagination is hardly encouraged as we all know from experience. For instance, to those of us who were born before 1974 trying to imagine was like a curse. A child who talk well earlier than many children was a disgrace and was told to keep quiet in the presence of guests, any one for that matter. If the child imagines and fantasises, as children tend to do, then s/he will go to holy spring water in case the devil possessed him/her. How many of us, current parents, let our children imagine and fantasise? I will leave this to each child. Would the computer i am writing with be possible without imagination? 2.Deep introspection/intuition. This is an extention of imagination. It refers to questioning, analysing, and looking one's experience and thinking and feeling. It is an internal checks and balances. To cut it short, this is a quality which is possibly or definitely possessed by our traditional monks who spend their lives in introspection. We, the Urban folks, have neither the time nor the will for introspection. In fact, we may liken it to melancholy and depression. But it is worth stating that introspection is part (may be a higher one) of the self actualisation process. 3.Complete trust. This is one of the most missing elements in our national character. I will refer to some of our sayings. Yalteretere Temenetere. Sewen wededew enji atemenew. The above sayings say a lot about our national psyche. We tend to be suspicious. We do not trust people as they come. We doubt more than we trust. I sometimes feel (it could be my exaggerated imagination) that we tend to be paranoid. I think it is not difficult to see its impact in our national life. 4. True wisdom/logic. Who cares about true wisdom or logic except the philospher? This is not a particularly our national deficit. The age of prosperty (not necessarily capitalistic) and materialism has, intentionally or unintentionally, eradicated the search and love for wisdom and logic. To make things worse for us, however, we also tend to be over emotive. We mostly give precedence to our feeling than our thinking and this leads to most of the misunderstandings that we see in our personal, social, political and national life. 5.Oppen communication. Despite our exposure to global culture (due to our experience in diaspora) we have not yet internalised open communication. I think or i feel that we have learned a lot along that line but not enough to say we have it and can use it to resolve our problems. We need to work on that as it is the open to overcome our hurdles. I better leave 6 and 7 for next time. Thanks for coming up with such a lively issues that make us think. Thanks a lot

Comments:Dear Brothers, Merry Ethiopian Christmas and European New year!! Initially i was afraid that i was possessing the forum for myself as there were no respondents at all. Now I am delighted to have at least few interested fellow compatriots. I am encouraged even more to express my view with the hope of making a difference in our thinking in general and political thinking in particular. Thank you for your complements and genuine understanding of my intentions. Dear Serekebirhan and Michael! Please allow me to say some few things from your message. My comments are, I hope, unbiased and without any prejudice. Mr Serekebirhan requested the website host to advise Getachew Reda to leave the forum. As i suggested last time i differ in my position here. I belive the webhost should never behave like a third world police guard (cyper police). It should be upto us the participants to make our views heard, try to straighten out things and to indicate what reality looks like and the true expression of that reality.I believe i am (and hopefully, you my brothers as well) mentally strong enough to challenge anything that is far from reality and anything which does not contribute positively to the future of my country. Therefore, we should never think of using cyber police to get rid of anyone whose idea and attitude we do not agree with. Michael has put a guy as an EPRP cult. Do facts support that the person is has formed a personlity cult in EPRP? If so, then, it is not upto us but EPRP to get rid of their cult. You have also used suggestions which are quite similar in tone with Mr Serekbrhan, such as monitoring and disciplining users. I have already answered that one and i do not want to repeat myself. You said "these thugs". Who are the thugs? If you mean EPRP, then, you have made logical error because all EPRPs can not be thugs. In fact, calling individuals and organisations thugs does not seem to me constructive way of making criticism or opposition. You have requeted the host to stop such thugs. Again the host is a host. I am sure he is in a dimensionally different profession than political science. It should be upto any thinking Ethiopian to straighten out things. Ideas should not and can not be banned. Irrational ideas, though, can be defeated by rational ideas. Let us not expect others to be rational, especially we can not demonstrate a higher degree of rationality. Finally, you said people are scared of discussing because of G. Reda. I am a practical example that people can not be scared of anyone because of the suggestions one makes online. In fact, those ideas gave me an impetus to participate. I believe one individula can not scare people to drop a line or two about what they feel about their national affairs. I, therefore, plead to you brothers that no matter what one says, we should be able to listen but not ban. We should be able to make our views heard and do all we could to straighten out things. It is said that faith moves mountain. Let me add something to it and rewrite it: "Faith and Ideas move mountains". Our ideas, if genuine, will overcome.

Comments:Ato Serekebirhan and all, Happy New Year and Happy Ethiopian Christmas too. Welcome back and thank you too for your constructive comments. I must admit that I am not Fiameta's regular but forced to join when that EPRP cult Getachew Reda went wild, out of order and disturbed netters on this forum. I liked Fiameta but to no avail. I think Fiameta should monitor, dicipline these thuggs or stop them using this forum altogether. Then when everyone disappeared including your goodself, I too was refrained to return. Dawit did interfer and tidied up a bit but still people are scared to discuss on this forum because of Getachew Reda. As you can see there were no discussions since your absence. It now seemed that he is sneaking in and out because some people started having discussions. Any way carry on having civilised discussions with Mr Kahsay who sounded genuine, Knowledgable, polite and serious Ethiopian. I may join you at a later date. May God Bless all.

Comments:Hi Michael, Thanks for your complement. I agree the question about the name fiameta is irrelevant. Whether this is the same or different Getachew Reda does not matter. We are not interested in his name either. What we should be interested in, with regard to the forum is, that we should use the media of communication for exchange of ideas, for cultural change in our thinking and behaving, for upholding respect human individuals and last but not least for sorting out the paradox of our Ethiopian national fate in the whole scheme of global politics. I would also suggest to Dawit or any forum user not to hammer down ideas and attitudes that we do not like or we do not agree with. If we do that, it means we do not have the patience, tolerance and perspective taking that we always preach for others to possess. I believe that no matter how someone's ideas are immature and infantile, gossipy and trash, we should leave that to the individual judgement of every reader. I understand the emotional experiences we undergo when people go far out and engage us with their personal biases and prejudices but still it is up to us, those of us who believe are mature and democratic, to be tolerant and non-judemental. Let them express what they feel. It has, if not political, at least therapuetic value. Let we all be tolerant of people, their ideas and feelings even if they are destructive. Hate begets hate. An eye for an eye makes all blind.

Comments:To: Dawit of Fiameta!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I applaud you for ignoring Getachew Reda's silly and sarcastic question about the name "FIAMETA." I sincerely hope he is not that Getachew Reda of San Jose who destroyed this discussion forum for the past few months with bad languages and stupid gossips about an individual. Any way, who ever this particular Getachew Reda was, you were wise and right to ignore him. It wasn't an important question nor genuine one. Otherwise, next time he will ask you why they named Flamingo Bar, La-Mascote Club, Aurora Bar, Virgin Cafe, Lumumbardia Restaurant/Cafe so on and so forth all of which are in Addis Ababa for many long years. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I also hope you erase all Getache Reda's statements and tidy up this forum to attract netters to have peaceful and civilized discussion. I thank you.

Comments:Hi to all the brothers and sisters who take the time, dispense the energy to express their views on this discussion forum. I have tried to contribute to various forums and i almost gave up until i looked at this forum. Beleive it or not it took me hours and hours to read the many sensible and senseless, mature and silly, emotional and rational, clear and ambigous, eloquent and broken messages. Then i decided never to give up. In fact, i got more reason to actively involve in sharing my ideas and ideals with my fellow compatriots wherever they are. It is in that renewed spirit that i am composing this message. Before dealing with a specifice historical, organisational, political or national issue i would like to make general comments on what we lack as political thinkers (for give me if i sound political or national messaiah). I am just an ordinary Ethiopian on the street with no strings attached. 1. We confuse democratic rights with abusing, cursing, blaming leaders. We protrayed the Emperor as a dog, Mengistu was and still is portrayed as a butcher and Meles is portrayed as the typical banda and what not. It is one thing to discuss national issues, to set the right strategy and tactic and it is totally a different thing to sit on a couch and condemn all politicians (specially those whose ideas we do not like). 2. We seem to have agreed never to reach a consensus on almost any national issue. This is witnessed by the number of political organisations, that is pro and con of the government. 3. We never respect other's ideas. We seem not to have the culture listening and responding in a way that addresses issues and not individuals. I must admit we seem to be endowed with a disposition for intolerance. No two Ethiopians can discuss an issue and reach an agreement. If they disagree that means until death part them. 4. We still entertain vestiges of feudalism and the ideas of human rights (individual rights)do not occupy an inch of a space in our heart or mind. This leads to egocentrism of the highest order which could be easily and readily expressed by 'tribalism' or whatever you may call it. Let us respect each other, listen eachother, sort out our problems. Ethiopia belongs to all and the views, ideas and ideals of all Ethiopians have equal values. Our political, religious, ethnic, or other persuasions and affiliations should come next to our national interest. Ethiopia First should never be a dead slogan.

Comments:Selam, Ato Serkebirhanue: This is an age in which the struggle is for the minds of all Ethiopians that includes you and I, to be able to get on with our last resort to unity rooted in equality. Initially, this is the stage at the very best, to recognize our failures in the past and move on. Yes, those patterns of detailed failures seem to be some sort of fear factors to your troubled souls to determine as if there is no any other way out of this. Dare not to cancel out the very learning process we might have gained from those series of our failures in the past. Dare not to down play everything we know-how for the sake of sneering at our coalition building experiences is the advice I have for you. In this however, you cannot going to get us in trouble as you might expect. Rather, you are venturing to point out the pitfalls and mistakes that experience has taught us to avoid. When so, I suppose, it might upset your little experience and previous shortcomings that you have been running into. Besides, it takes a lot of time to get experience, and it is time to use it very wisely. So we do! Unless one is ceased to learn, however, he/she cannot go back-to-back to repeat him/herself in the long run. Isnt that what an expensive lesson to learn from past mistakes and other experiences is all about? If that is the case, in fact, it is a lesson for us to retain our capacity of discovering new ideas that corrects older ones, so to speak, and to learn from the rest of our political partners as we are exchang ideas and experiences so on and so forth with them. If at all possible, though I suppose, this creative and curative social drive, which exists within our abilities to do so is vital in order to mobilize our people and rally the international community behind us. Afterward, getting along with the rest of our strategic friends and partners is the essence of getting ahead to succeed our strategic objectives. When all's said and done, we can realize as to how much the unity we found today that you are condemning day in and day out is vital for tomorrow. It shall remain to be the true source of our energy signifying this historic pact of Ethiopians in the making as formidable as it sounds. It is a stepping-stone for Ethiopians as a whole to promote our plan of action in which our success is linked to all alliances in battle. It is also an exemplary venture to create understanding and sympathy not only between and among politicians of different views and convictions but also amongst all segments of our society residing both in Ethiopia and in the Diaspora. This historic pact can provide us some confidence to be able to keep in contact with our friends and alike rather than being left out in the cold. You know what I mean. It is also part of the main course of our struggle in which those of us, Ethiopians that is;who love freedom will do all we can to establish a powerful political alliance amongst ourselves against the forces of tyranny, and it is the stage in time for us to sing the same song in unison against enemies. So, come on and join us to standing on together and to lock horns with TPLF and patrons instead of join them to repeat the same mockery of democracy. Come on and join us in our crusade waging against their travesty of justice and have to tell them that if and when our fate is determined would be determined by we the people of Ethiopia not by some proxy whose policy is parochialism. Sencerly, Addisue Mulatie

So please bear with me with my little misunderstanding of what is going on in out country, if I do of course I have seen so many people complaining about what is going on in our country. However, some individuals do no't like what my remark may be but please understand me way before getting offended. Ever since TPLF has been spliting into two or more factions, those memebers and supporters are complaing not the same way as the rest of our people do but a little bit differently. What they are saying day in and day out is as to how Esseye and his groups have been victim of their own make. Yet, I don't see them coming out of their hidden shelves to say something that can make them clean to join the rest of the Ethiopian people in their fight agaist Tribalism. Thank you,

Comments:Dawit of Fiameta, well come back to our Fiameta. Well done too for taking time to clean the rubbish. Apologies for the boys. Fiameta was and still is one of the best Discussion Forums until Getachew Reda and those he managed to drive crazy recently abused it. At last, it came back to normal after Getachew left and hope it will stay that way. .......................... As you said, many of us agree with you that we should discuss how to bring democratic governance, human rights and justice in Ethiopia in and general discuss about national interest. Getachews main interest and campaign on this and other Forums were purely to spread hate against a personality he recently admired and finally quarrelled with and also glamorise his party EPRP which all of us on this floor disagreed with. .......................... As you could see too from the postings, many people were discussing important issues until Getachew intruded with malicious gossips about an individual, which took over the floor for months. Some of us ignored him at first, advised him and even begged him to stop it and change the topic but he blatantly refused. .......................... Some writers were disgusted about these abuses then informed you on time on the forum but you could not respond because you were on vacation. The matter got worse when they failed to get responses from you and Getachew carried on non-stop with his hate mails and further forcefully tried to preach us about EPRP despite everybodys refusals and complaints. He then came up with party documents and the individuals story and posted dozens of pages every day intentionally to upset all his opponents. He was childish. .......................... As a result of these, some readers, the accused individuals supporters, may be the accused friends and families could not tolerate his foul languages, false allegations and abuses hence lost their temper and started using Getachews languages to defend the accused and in the process to stop him. It was not right to behave like him but they were forced by Getachew to do it. When Getachew lost his own defaming game and left pretending as if he was the victim, every debate became normal and civilized. This shows Getachew was the only reason for the abuses. .. Here we are not saying again that tit for tat was the best solution but that was the only option he gave the readers to stop him we guess in your absence to bring Fiameta back to normality. He was even telling every one not to visit Fiameta if we dont like to read his statements. We thought he could be one of the owners to dare to say that too. .. Dawit, we are 100% sure you know Getachew Reda. He has been a big problem on many discussion forums and web sites where he annoyed many readers and writers for many years. As you read and may well know too he is banned from all Ethiopian web sites because of his vulgar languages and extremism against writers, good parties, his personal attacks on intellectuals and web sites. Now poor Getachew is only left with Fiameta. If he continues with that, he looses all. .. Again we are not saying we agree with their decisions but they must not tolerate this kind of continues abuses against their organisation, their netters and their regular contributers. You may have read too what complaints has been written about Getachew on various web sites recently. One or two are posted on this Forum too. When you consider all these, they had good reasons, the legal rights and the guts to ban him to keep their good reputation from being dented because of one individual. You were asked to do the same too. He never accepts or regrets his mistakes at all. .. Finally we say this. We agree on only one thing with Getachews statement today despite his sounding of I was right attitude. Please do the erasing of all the remaining rubbish from Fiametas window. Let us keep our Fiameta tidy and Ladies and Gentlemens Discussion Forum. Let us keep out the bad guys like Getachew Reda, otherwise Fiameta will definitely loose writers, readers and we predict its good reputation soon. It has already lost some. Many readers and writers have left. We too will give up from today if Getachew is allowed to continue to use this Forum. Many Thanks, Good Luck and God Bless.

Comments: Dear web master:----welcome from your vacation. Hopefully I understand you took such progressive action, after my appeal to you. On your note, you asserted that it took you for three hours to read all the posted articles on the floor. Yes it indeed it can take that long hour, and indeed I apologize on my part if there is any abuse I did from emotion. After all human and all animal do react with out conscious when improperly disrespected. Based on this manner we may did react and act. Now my remained comment to you is, if you still believe there is none remained crab your word, --- my word bigotry, discriminatory, derogatory racist and crab posted on the floor, then I urge you to go one more time and you will see a bigotry and derogatory remark against me. I as every one of my close friends and family and compatriots know I am not what is posted in Fiameta website. This is deliberately done from their childish range of thinking, to disarm me from fighting their weakness. That doesnt bother me too much, since we Ethiopians know our manner and culture. But, it bothers me a lot when I see Ethiopians who claimed they are fighting for all race, sex, color, class. But clearly such people showed their eternal fail or by using derogatory and bigotry remarks when it comes on equality, race and sex. As one remark said this website is visited by foreigners too if that is the case then what will the different foreign visitors perspective be when they see people alienating gay and using dark color as derogatory and other classes? In this website based on the remarks posted against me? Yes it is not wise. Therefore please I urge you to re -read and see if you can see any left begot remarks and erase it if possible. ------Thanks for your cooperation in advance------Getachew Reda ------

After my long vacation, I have gotten a chance to visit our Fiameta Discussion Forum. Hah, I really felt ashamed with what my Ethiopian brothers were posting on public Forum. However, It was wasting time to read all the none to do messages, its my responsibility to find out who was writing what? on those yester weeks. By tracing all IP numbers, I realized who and who were under the false mask.

Dear brothers, you can write and post messages using different pen names but be a little smart (@least do not use same email address). Furthermore, you guys were stretching your attitude beyond the limit and it messed up the room. It took me three hours to read more than eighty messages in order to clean up the page. I have read all the crap, edited the dirt and deleted the waste. Thank u for keeping me BZ on the coming weekend too, huh.

Dear Ethiopian brothers and sisters, this is your web page, you shouldnt have to abuse it. Lets talk how to bring democratic governance in Ethiopia, lets raise questions about human rights and justice. If you are concerned about Ethiopia, lets start from A, and lets talk about Ethiopias national interest not about ours. Lets say something on economic and social development not about our hatred. Civil intellectuals always discuss on ideas not on personalities. Con, where is your Ethiohood?! Come to your MIND wake up for a minute and think where we are going God Bless you!!

Comments:Thank you Ato Serekebirhan for your speedy response. I am still and really confused about these party's activities hence need to read the articles you refered on Indian Ocean. Their unification sounded a bit dodgy to me because as you said some of them do not have members and others are not representing parties. Some are members of two parties too. What are happening to Ethiopian politics? Any way soon we will know the truth. Thank you again.

He poisoned it and left I guess. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Selam Serekebirhan!....That was good observation and explanation about EPRP'S fake "All Party Conference." But I am confused a bit. If this is the true picture, what happened to the other parties like Tigrai Alliance, Ethiopian People Federal Democratic Unity Party, All Ethiopia Socialist Movement and others mentioned on an article on the web (Ethiomedia)? Can you explain that? Can you clearly put who joined the unity in English too? ............................................................ 2, They say they were nine parties who formed the unity but your list shows only eight so who is the nineth party? ............................................................ 3,As per your explanation too some individuals seemed to have represented two parties on the conference. If that is the case then, how many genuine parties do you think made the united front? It cannot be eight or nine. ............................................................ 4, Which parties Kedir and Assefa were representing? ............................................................ 5, Why are some individuals in two parties? ............................................................ 6, Who are EPRP members who are also members of Amarach and Debub Hizboch? I will be most grateful if you explain this and other things about EPRP's activities to us. ............................................................ 7, Can all those parties be allowed to participate in Ethiopian elections or some are banned or kicked out like OLF?.................................................................................................................... 8, If your explanations were true, how come some observers did not expose them on the internet? Thank You.

Comments:Selam Serekebirhan Teketel, .......................... First of all I say thank you for coming up with the important issues of our beleaguered country Ethiopia. Secondly I say you hit the nail on the head about the so-called unity EPRP is fooling us of. As one friend said it last on this Forum EPRP are perverts and above all Ethiopian enemies of the worst kind. As you could see from their cult Getachew Reda, they are stubborn, devious, warmongers and power hungry opportunists. For the past thirty years they have always been a trouble and the biggest problem for our unity. Why? Why? Why? .......................... We all know the nine so-called opposition parties Getachew was preaching us on this Forum. You too eloquently analysed them hence I cannot put it better. These parties dont even have enough members to Form Soccer Club let alone rule a nation who has 65, million people with over 200 different languages. I know some of them as you do and can also confidently say they cannot manage their own families. They are all power hopefuls at a cost of peoples lives. That is all to it................................................... ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Imagine take it as an example also what Getachew was trying to preach us for many good weeks despite every bodys opposition on this Forum. First he tried to brainwash us using the doctors story as an excuse. When he could not gain support he tried to look serious and started debating about other parties. Again when he realized he lost the debate there, he went back to the previous topic of defaming an individual and insulting all others. .......................... When he lost this too he went back to preaching about EPRP posting his partys documents one after the other. He was insulted and ridiculed but could not care less. He was an amazing person. He went back and forward to finally lose the game and leave the Forum in disgrace. These are the type of people who are dreaming day and night to rule over us. God help Ethiopia. We really need to stop these crazy cults, impostors and their evil parties. Otherwise Meles will destroy Ethiopia in front of our eyes. These may be imposters who may be working for him too.

Ato Mersha Yosef "the Comander inchief of the Armed forces of Ethiopian unity Front operating from Tigray to Geleb Hamerbako of Gamu Gofa who has registered a significant Victory over Woyane Forces is making a political Tour in USA and Canada."
