| Comments: | I was deeply saddened to learn the news of Dougs passing a few weeks after the tragic event. I have been a long time fan of The Knacks ever since I first heard My Sharona when it was originally released. My best friends and I spent many an hour playing air guitar and rocking out to one of the greatest pop/rock albums of all time! Even long after many had given up on the band I still enjoyed other albums by this great band. I was very happy when the band continued to release new material long after there so called 5 minutes of fame. One hit wonder my @#$! Most bands today could take a lot of lessons from these guys. One of my fondest memories will always be seeing them live at DTE in Michigan in 2000. I'll bet I knew just about every word to there song-list that night.. off key and all I sang my heart out I didn't care LOL! Anyway Doug you will be sorely missed and heart goes out to all the guys in the band and his friends and family. Rock on Doug you will be missed. Long live Doug Fieger and The Knack. | Comments: | I remember meeting Doug and the others at Peabody's down under in Cleveland. They were at the bar before the show, talking and meeting with the fans. I skipped the Pink Floyd show at the Cleveland Stadium to go to Peabody's to see the Knack. My friends all said I was nuts. I had a blast, as the band put on a great show. I saw them a few times later too. Once at the Agora Ballroom and once at Nautica. They were and still are the greatest band I've ever seen or heard. Doug will be missed. |

| Comments: | Wow, no one told me till today(8/28/10) that Doug was gone.I think I never would have made the decison to pursue my musical carrer if it was'ent for Dougs writing and the music of the knack.I remember in 79' I was just getting ready to enter my Sophmore year of high school. There were about 3 weeks of summer left and I had just entered into the "cool" stage of my youth. the older kids in the neighborhood started to let me hang with them because of the 68 camero I just got for my first car.They all had "Get The Knack" blasting from thier car sterios with Jenson tri-axial speakers and Clarion power boosters.I remember the intro of Good girls don't, and it sounded fresh and new like my new "cool" status and I knew this would be a terrific start to one of the best times of my life, and it turns out I was right.I even think "Maybey Tonight" was playing as the soundtrack to my first time alone in the backseat with my first love Rosalie, just as Round Trip got me through our eventual breakup and my first Heartbreak.I will never forget Doud Fieger.Thanks for beiing the soundtrack of my life.I guess he really went there and back again...He will always be "The Monkey in Me" Sweet Dreams, Yancy Emerson+++ Bassist,Songwriter. |

| Comments: | My sharona is my fave but mainly because it introduced me to such a great band, a covers band called Red Rock did a brilliant cover on Wedneday night of My Sharona and dedicated it to Doug here in Liverpool England, i immediately went on the net to discover the bad news, I lost my Dad to stomach cancer on the very same day which is strangely spiritual, he loved the Knack too !!

I have saved a bubble gum package from The Knack. It is a mini sized album with the lyrics of My Sharona on the back cover. Inside was the bubble gum in the form of a vinyl record disc. I bought it at a local drug store back in probably 1978 when I was a teenager. |

| Comments: | I'm shocked that Doug is gone. In interviews I've seen of him, he was always so witty and a bit acerbic and seemed to be brimming with knowledge concerning music. His pop sensebilities are paralelled by none. Who else can get away with lyrics of My Sharona or Baby Talks Dirty or Good Girls Don't back in the day? The Knack had some of the horniest songs that were fun, energetic, seemingly simple at face value but utterly complex when closely examined. Prescott's riffs and the drumming was power-packed and on the auditory attack. I can't pick just one song as being a favorite. But I can pick just 2 favorite albums that are forever etched in my grey matter. The first 2 Albums are exquisite samples of pure pop pleasure. Thank you, The Knack, in your various incarnations, for all that you have contributed to the musical soundtrack of my life and the musical landscape of the history of Rock-n-Roll. Thank you! |
