| Comments: | Methos sprawled by the table, watching Joe wiping tables
and collecting glasses, and wondered if he could cadge a free beer. The main drawback was that Joe would probably have something scathing to say about drinking this early in the morning, but he had become thick-skinned over 5000 years. The sudden frisson of another immortal made him straighten and reach for the sword concealed beneath the table. But as the stranger entered, he realised that this was a friend from the past - in fact, someone who had been more than a friend. Tall, pale-skinned and red-haired the Dacian was as beautiful as ever. The Dacian stood warily for a moment as his eyes became accustomed to the dimness of the bar then he recognised Methos, and came towards him with a dazzling smile. "Perios, it's been too long. What brings you to this part of the world?" Methos rose and they grasped hands. "I'm looking for Duncan Macleod." "What for?" asked Methos wondering what his old lover might want with his new love. "To kill him." |

| Comments: | Dacian looked up from his downward stare at the floor. His eyes were angry and hurt.
"How do you know? How long have you known MacLeod?"
Methos shook his head and began to protest.
"Don't try to defend the man, Perios, I know what he did to Sean...his so called friend..." his voice trailed off and he stared at the floor again.
"Dacian..." Methos sighed. Why did he always have to get involved in MacLeod's affairs? "...he may still be alive."
Dacian looked up. He scowled and stood quickly. "You can't stop me," he said firmly. "And whatever MacLeod is to you I'm sorry."
He turned to leave the bar. Methos was going to object but he didn't know what to do. He sat in the chair and watched Dacian leave quietly. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly. Ten years ago he wouldn't have even cared.
"Want another beer?"
Methos looked up at Joe. He nodded and smiled wearily. He could use it. |

| Comments: | Methos finished his beer and then stood up. "Well Joe, I'm
off to make sure that MacLeod dosen't do something stupid tonight and get his head cut off. Call ahead for me will you? See if he's home." Joe looked at the other man strangley, but nodded and complied as Methos walked toward the door, at first unsteady, but gaining assurance with each step, and by the time he reached his car he was completley sober again. "Damn, I really wanted to stay foggy untill I was forced to deal with this. Oh well, I supposed that's it's all for the best anyway, I'll nead my brain for this." He got in his car and drove over to MacLeod's. By the time he reached it he had ascertained that there were at least two immotals inside, and from the sounds emmanating from the open window, at least one of them was very unhappy. He ran inside and up the stairs as the elevator was too slow for his purposes. When he reached the top and opened the floor, what should he see but Duncan on his knees with Dacien's sword at his throat. He was walking in a slow circle around Mac talking in smooth tones, but you could hear the raw wrathfulness which stood out like a red flag. "...I suppose that I can't blame you, I mean after all, you are just a Highland barbarian with no morals to speak of, I suppose that it's to be expected, but this was really just unacceptable." Methos stood there frozen as he watched the scene play out before his eyes, unable to move to stop the inevitable. as he raised his sword for the final blow, he uttered one last unforgivable insult; "You know MacLeod, I was at Culloden as well, only I fought for the winning side." He laughed as he started the swords downward stroke, but then Methos sprang into action. "NOO!" He pulled a gun from inside of his coat and shot Dacien square in the chest, and his sword clattered harmlessly to the floor beside him. [P.S.- Sorry for the insults in the story, I don't mean them, I love Dunkie. :-)] |

| Comments: | Duncan stared at the fallen body. Then he stood, retrieved
his sword from the table nearby, and leaned against the wall. Methos gazed at him in astonishment. "What the Hell are you doing you crazy Scot?" Duncan returned his glare. "I donna run from a fight. You KNOW that. But this time, it will be a fair one." Methos frowned, then grabbed him by the arm. "Are you out of your MIND? Why must you always be so honorable? This thing is a huge misunderstanding, the whole Stephen Keane mess.." Duncan nodded. "I know that. He mentioned it. When I denied it, he attacked me in a rage. I did not even have hold of my sword. He is crazed." There came a gasp, and Dacien rolled over, coughing. Methos made one more effort. "Duncan please. I can't lose you..." Duncan touched his face, then kissed him gently. "You know I love you, Methos. But this is the life we live. It is a hazard of the Game." He kissed him more passionately as Dacien was slowly rising. "Now this is my fight, love. Don't interfere again. If I can't convince him of my innocence, we WILL fight. I'm sorry. Its as it must be. If I can, I'll let him go. If not, this place is insured against electrical failure." With a half grin, he turned his attention back to Dacien. "Wake up now, sir, and we'll fight fair this time." With a glance in Methos' direction, he added, "Both sides." |

| Comments: | Dacien frowned beligerantly, but did not attack. "I'd have
thought such a cowardly bastard as you would have run when your... lover," he spat the word,"killed me." To Methos he said, "I'll never forget that. Ever." Methos shuddered. But Duncan said, "If you think you won at Culloden, Dacien, you are sorely mistaken. The slaughter done there by the English was sickening, disgraceful to any man who killed the Scottish men and their families. I cannot convince you of that, or how wrong I was in my revenge later, but hear me when I say this: Stephen Keane rose and walked away that day on the roof. I didn't even kill him, let alone behead him. I would have let him have my head, if not for this man who stands my shield, so don't give me any more of your sorrow. I am not responsible for it." He paused, letting his words have their effect. "Now you can fight me on equal ground, or you can walk away. Which will it be?" Dacien held his ground, his sword at ready. Then he said, "I almost beat you once." "Aye, but you caught me unaware, unprepared, and without my sword on hand. Are ye willing to take the chance of me at my best?" he added menacingly. Dacien cautiously lowered his guard. "I will admit that your sincerity has placed a doubt in my heart. I will continue to search for other possibilties." He turned, replacing his sword in the concealing folds of his trench coat and walked away. At the door, he looked back and said, "If I should find any evidence that would convict you, Duncan MacLeod, I will return, and I will kill you. Goodnight. And Perios, you will never again know my good will." And with that he was gone. |

| Comments: | Methos Frowned at the slamming door of Dacian's exit , He
holstered his gun and put his hands in his pockets, looking at Duncan . Duncan Matched his Gaze "Look Methos you dont have to fight my battles for me , I know you do it because you care . Thats what I love about you " he walked closer to the older immortal , sliping an arm around his waist. "but you cant protect me all the time , Just as I cant protect you every moment of the day" He pulled his lover closer, wrapping his other arm around him and leaning his head on his shoulder. Methos held him and squeezed gently , Murmering into his Ear " Highland Barbarian He says .. Ha How does he know what goes on in our bedroom " Duncan Groaned , Shaking his head at the mention of bedroom Activities ." Who says we only play in the bedroom " Duncan said, Directing an innocent gaze to te kitchen table. He pulled away and grabed the older immortals hand leading him to the dining room." Oh no you dont , Highlander " Methos said while trying to stop himself from being dragged into the kitchen "Dont you remember what happened last time we did this on a wood surface" Duncan made a crybaby face " AWWH , Cant the big bad Methos Handle a few splinters in his cute little behind " he said with a chuckle.( sorry to leave itat the cliffs edge , good luck ) |

| Comments: | "'Big bad Methos?'" Methos repeated with a scathing
glance. "Look here, infant, I was getting splinters from this kind of thing back before English was a written language." MacLeod watched him with a purely sardonic look masking his face. "Whatever you say," he muttered. Growling, Methos shoved Duncan, smiling as the Highlander tripped on the edge of a nearby rug and sprawled on the floors. "The question 'Dunkie-poo'" Methos snarled, "is whether or not you can handle a few rugburns." Practically leaping on the fallen immortal, Duncan gasped as first the weight on his chest and then the lips on his own sucked the breath from his body. As the two lovers struggled blindly with the painful amount of buttons on Mac's shirt, the sudden wash of immortal presence blanketed them. "What now?" Methos sighed, pulling first himself and then his lover to their feet. Watching cautiously as the door to the loft opened, both men's epxressions curled into masks of disbelief. "You?" |

| Comments: | "Amanda?!" MacLeod gasped, out of breath. He quickly
glanced at both his state of undress. Amanda's mouth curled up in to a stunning smile. "Duncan? What on earth..." she trailed off, her eyes zeroing in on Methos. She grinned. "Well... It seems you have been busy while I was a away." Mac looked away. Although he couldn't see himself at the moment, he was sure he was red. What was annoying was the fact the Methos seemed to be enjoying himself, a satisfied smile upon his face. "You... you aren't shocked?" he asked cautiously, not knowing how she was going to take it. Amanda flashed another one of her brilliant smiles. "Of course not! Hell, I was even starting to wonder if you two would ever get a clue." She rolled her eyes. "Practically everyone knew you were perfect together, even Joe. And why would you think I'm such a prude? You've know me to have been in same sex relationships before." "JOE?! Even Joe knew?" Methos, being silent as the two ex-lovers had been talking, finally decided to but in, before the Highlander was going to be shocked by more information than he needed right now. "Is there some reason why you're here...?" he asked irritably. Amanda's eyes widened. "Oh right! I'm hunting someone and I need your help." MacLeod starred at her in disbelief. "You're asking?" Amanda gave him an innocent smile and started walking over to him. "Of course, silly!" she responed, her hand gracefully grasping MacLeod's arm. "Don't worry... once you've heard what he's done you'll want to get him as well." Methos frowned. //Great...// It was just another excuse for MacLeod to lose his head. //Out one end, in another// he sighed. "What possibly could a person do to make you go hunting?" Amanda's once playfull demeanor vanished. "Do you know Brigitte Perot?" "No..." Mac breathed. //Brigitte... not another one...// Another friend lost, never to be seen again. He had seen Brigitte in a while, but her infectiously laugh, her sparkling blue eyes were forever imprinted in his memory. Amanda shook her head sadly. "She was taken out last week. I've been tracking her killer ever since I got the news." "Who killed her?" MacLeod growled, needing to know who had done the deed and the need for revenge growing steadily. His mind lurched back to the first time he had met her, here in France, during the Great War. "I don't know if you know who he is, but he goes by the name of Dacien." |
