| Comments: One of NZ's premier Action Quake2 sites are running monthly
LAN's starting on the 23rd of June. It's called 'InterAction' and is quite expensive {$25} but this is cause they are leaseing a permanent venue so the initial setup cost is high. We plan on reducing the price once the initial setup costs have been recovered. The venue is going to be permanently wired for networking with no need for cables and shit spread from one end of the venue to the other. | Comments: You're not thinking Freaky. Having to charge $30 every time would kill FRAG. The Aotea center is a VERY expensive room to hire. FRAG has always operated on making things regular, fun, and cheap. i.e. under $10 per event. FRAG operates on getting a REGULAR turnout of 50-100 people, so using the Aotea center would not only raise our prices triple what they are now, it would also make us have to get over 300 people every time. The risk is too great. The Aotea center is very expensive, they tend to do things like making you sign contracts that require you to pay the hirage even if you cancel. Do you want to be liable for a $2000-$3000 hirage fee because FRAG had a poor turnout one month? I know I don't. There's also the fact that FRAG operates independently of sponsorship, and as such we pay for all the network gear ourselves. There's a borderline you don't cross. Once the events get beyond a certain size then the costs go up DRAMATICALLY. Once again, it starts to change the purpose of the club. Lastly. FRAG is a club. Do you think they're going to let us have the biggest room in the Aotea center once a month, every month?. I don't think so. Basically, if we were to use the Aotea center, then the requirements to pay for it would change FRAG from being a club that everybody can afford to regularly attend, into a major enterprise that only runs big events once in a while. That would make FRAG events even more work than they already are. FRAG would then cease to be fun for the people who have to run it, and I'll shut it down before I'll let it become a chore. Gibsaw |

I am following a lead on a place where they already have some group laning once a month.. Its surposed to be big, If the owner is keen maybe we could get started again.
