I have gone back to Pierre de Dreux [even further] and down some way along his descentdant lines but i have the hiatus from c1702 when a George Perkins was born in Falmouth; from him i have a clear line of descent to those who came out and down to South Australia. The only facts that I have on this computer (just moved to Belgium and desktop is still in transit) I know that he was killed while plowing a field by a neighbor who was in disagreement with him.
My father Clarence Albert Perkins was born in Megargel, Texas on 23 August 1913. He had two brothers, William (Bill) Olen Perkins and Bert Perkins (he had a twin who died when born, Bertha); one sister Olga Perkins. I do not recall my grandfather's name but my grandmother's maiden name was Jo Benson Watts. I have been told all my life that after the Civil War, Zeno's mother had barrels of confederate money in the cellar of their plantation home in Georgia, I believe this was in the area of Moltry, Georgia. I am very interested in working on my family tree and meeting distant family members. |

I had been told his father was named David, but now I have another source to back that up. I have an oil portrait, painted in 1866 by William Frye, which oral family history purports to be David Perkins. However according to Robin's info, David Perkins died in 1830. Any of you Perkins out there know of nany family members who, immediately following the Civil War, had the means to commission an oil painting? William Frye painted mostly in Southern Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, and Alabama.

Records show that Elizabeth sailed on the ship (unclear as to name) Pion or Lyon, or Rion, from England in the spring of 1631 to Agawam, Essex, Massachusetts. My line is through Lemuel Enoch Perkins, who went to Texas in the 1870's from North Carolina. His lineage traces back to David Perkins, who was delegate to the ratification convention in 1788 is Hillsboro for the Constitution. I have back to his Grandfather, David Perkins, who is a witness to a will in Albermarle in 1690 and can go no further at present. They had a daughter Cynthia Lynn Perkins born 1949 in Jacksonville, Fl. But William gave Cythnia up for adoption in 1955 to P. Huesgen. He supposedly signed the adoption papers while in jail. His second wife later shot and killed him around 1966 somewhere near/in Atlanta, Georgia. William also had a brother named Nealon Perkins who was also a resident of Georgia (Atlanta area I think). I would appreciate any help on info for William H. Perkins and/or events described in this posting.
