| Comments: | I have verified that Alfred Perkins (1844 - 1915), 12th Connecticut Infantry, Company D (1862 - 1865) is in fact the same Alfred Perkins appearing in the 1851 St. John City New Brunswick Census. I am blessed to have found two distant cousins who verified for me. I am now in the process of getting a Civil War headstone from the Veterans Association (will take approximately two months). While the 1851 New Brunswick Census finds Charles N Perkins with a son, Alfred, the year of birth is a little off. Alfred came to the US in 1861 and enlisted in 12th Conn. Infantry and mustered out in Savannah in 1865. He lived and had a family in MS and died in 1915. I am searching for specific information that verifies Alfred is my GGF and one in the same with the 1851 NB Census.

George Dallas Perkins #1 died in 1884 and Rosa remarried in 1886. She never talked about Perkins family to sons. I do not know where George #1 died,buried,causes,or anything about his family. Stonewalled and brickwalled. If I have the right branch of Perkins then Wright Perkins was his grandfather and Berry Wright Perkins was his father. Berry had three children: Sarah Perkins Nash, Mary Perkins Smith(?), and my George D Perkins. Sound familiar to anyone? | Comments: | I am descended from William Perkins,the first Lord Ufton, and had the opportunity to visit Ufton Court in April, 2008.
My brother had done extensive genealogical research of the Perkins, and the only physical location he found in England was Ufton Court. I looked it up on a search engine, and found the information on the ancestral home in Berkshire. I made a trip to England in 2008, and had the opportunity to tour the ancestral estate, located near Ufton Nervet, south of Reading, in Berkshire. Further down the Perkins line is my ancestor, John Perkins, who left Bristol, England with his wife, Judith Gator, on a ship called the LYON, in 1630, arriving the Massachusetts Bay Colony in February, 1631. They later settled in Ipswich, Mass. |
