| Comments: | Last spring my daughters and I rescued a wild pigeon who was hit by a car. It has a very charming personality and lives free in our computer room. It is unable to fly because one wing healed improperly. "He" (we have no idea what sex it is) spends a lot of time looking longingly out the window at the other pigeons, cooing and ruffling up it's feathers. We know they mate for life and are gregarious birds. We'd like to find a friend for "him", but don't know where to start. (A friend brought us another pigeon that had been hit by a car, but it died.) :-( Would it be possible to visit and see your lovely birds? Are they breeds of pigeons--the same species, but different breeds? Could we get a lovely fantail to keep our pigeon company? Can they live inside the house, or should we build a small coop outside. We would miss our bird's company if he had to live outside. We do have a deck that we could put a large cage on, and a small storage shed we could build a coop in. While he is still wild enough that he doesn't like to be touched, he knows we feed him and is interested in us. The girls belong to 4-H and Girl Scouts...we are homeschoolers and would love to see both fantails and homing pigeons. We live in Newport, Kentucky. |

| Comments: | Into my garage not long ago flew a beautiful shockingly white bird. She's got broad chest, A Fan-tail of feathers and curious feathers covering her feet. She is not afraid of any of us getting very close - not touching her but very close.
I thought to myself - It looks like something from a wedding invitation and then I though - it must be a dove. I am trying to come with a picture so I can create a FOUND poster and find her home. But everywhere I went I could not find an image quite like her. The beautiful pictures on your site are very close - as close as I've come. The only difference is her tail does not extend so straight up.... Does anyone have any ideas? She will not leave. The garage is open but she is OBVIOUSLY tamed and has no desire to play out doors...And I'd rather she didn't, if her life was as sheltered as it seems. I am feeding her seeds and giving her clean water to both drink & bath. |
