| Comments: | Very Good job Franka tanks... for us Imp's entusiasts. I'm writhing from North Itlay I have an early '64 LSO model Loch blue, same upholstery color inside, she is in perfect and original condition, so the black plate and docomentation.
For a short period, the Imp, here in Italy was popular for the people tha detest Fiat's production (600 or 850#, but now they are very very rare. Is so rare that a magazine Ruoteclassiche , 3 years ago made a special issue to celebrate the Rootes/Hillman Group. used my Imp as testimonial for the event. I'm worry because is't wery easy foud spare parts. Ciao a tutti #everybody) dall'Italia Giampiero |

| Comments: | Hi, Franka. I joined the Imp Club in about 1980 Member 201, stayed a few years and let it lapse because I could not afford the subs(raising kids and real estate) at the time. Would join again but for the joining fee and subs. Adds up to a lot of Aussie $$ for just Magazines and no other benefits that you locals enjoy. This is no complaint, since I am an active Member of the Hillman Car Club of South Australia (20 yrs)with many Imp owners. I have owned (28)Imps since getting my licence in 1975, my current one is a 1967 Hillman GT 20000 miles I restored, similar to the one in the brochure elsewhere in your site. Thanks for the chance to visit your Guestbook. |

| Comments: | Thank you for your wonderful website. I had come across a link, while searching for my grand father's (who settled in Rhodesia and then South Africa) brother, who had moved from Coventry UK to Melbourne, Australia. This is Alan Lane, the Linwood Planning Manager. Unfortunately, contact with this side of the family and the African branch had been lost for a few decades, and it was with sadness that I read of Alan's passing in 2008. I am trying to contact either Alan's wife Ray, or any of his children. Any help you could provide would be appreciated. Best regards, Jay Lane. |

My first car, a lovely white Imp. Thrashed relentlessly it always delivered and was a joy to drive. 36 years on I still have very fond memories of this car. |

I am unsure as to when he was first employed but I know we, as a family, had to move to Scotland when the Hillman 'Imp' was manufactured in Linwood in 1963 - Cyril was my father.
I found his name on a list of people who were sent a memo regarding the launch of the Imp but am unable to find anything else. I have no idea where to start but I would be really grateful for any assistance you can give me. Susan Cullen (nee Hayes) |

| Comments: | I am trying to get in touch with Jonathon Adams - son of Melvyn Adams, the imp racing driver. Having read Jonathon's response to Melvyn's obituary I realise that I may be able to give him some information about his racing career. I knew Melvyn many years ago as my husband's firm (Linbrac) part sponsored his racing - first of imps, then the Passat and finally the Davrian which he drove in the late 70s. I would be happy to give Jonathon some information and I have at least one photo and hope to be able to find more.

| Comments: | I had a Hillman Imp from 1980 till 1985.It was a 1974 model.I found it remarkable in what such a small car carried.I once drove up town with a sofa on my roofrack.A Policeman give me a bit of a WTF look when I went round a roundabout.
I found changing the clutch easy to change by using a trolley jack and wheeling it out the back of the engine bay.I had to change the King Pins once. One was a real pig.I hammered at it with a steel rod and Lump Hammer for what seemed forever.I put release oil on it and a blow lamp.Eventually giving up till the next day.The next day it virtually dropped out.I have fond memories of my old Imp. |

My 1st new car was a 1971 Imp deluxe, it went well but I wanted a bit more civilization and thought that it could handle a little more power. So my 2nd new car was a 1972 Sunbeam Sport! Both cars were in a dark metallic green, I believe it was called Caribbean Green. I lived in the Forest of Dean at the time, it was great fun. I also took it across the channel and onto the South of France. I had more fun showing the natives just how slow away from the lights a Simca 1000 was. |

| Comments: | Apologies if this is in the incorrect place, but my final year project at Uni is on the development of the Mini. I'm trying to find out more information about the old Dunlop Test Track at Halfpenny Green where the Imp's tyres were tested as the Mini's 10" tyres were also tested there. The only record I can find of the test track's existence are the photos on your website of the Imp. I don't suppose you would have anymore knowledge of the site? Today, all that seems to exist at Halfpenny Green is a Vineyard and an airport - which from what I can make out has never been used as a test track, only RAF occupied. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Simon Thompson. |

Great work in assembling the data - it must have taken hours and hours of research. Well done. I have made the Hillman Imp my FEATURE CAR for May, the three drivers involved are all characters. re: Colours. May be worth adding to the relevant section that early Hillman Imps painted Capri Blue had dark blue trim rather than black as in the UK and in the colour charts. Not sure what other colour differences existed from UK cars. I have a capri blue Mk1 with original blue trim and am considering changing it to Black. regards Alastair Cox |

His team - Team HAS - did the Gulf London International Rally in 1967, the drivers being Harry Skelton/Mike Lindsay-Jones, Barrie (Whizzo) Williams/Tommy Thompson and Pauline Wynn/Venetia Sadler. I did the event in a Cooper 'S' and after retiring with a broken front suspension I ended up servicing for Team HAS rom Yorkshire to the finish. Harry Skelton was a good friend of all at the 'Works'. Another Imp driver you have omitted was the Irish lady, Melanie Fitzgerald-Smith who did the 1969 Scottish in what was possibly an ex-works car, although it had Irish plates. Her navigator was Venetia Sadler who had earlier been a 'Team HAS' co-driver. I hope that this is of interst to you. |

| Comments: | Found the site sort of by 'trial and error', but very good anyhow. In the Fraser competition part there is a photo of the Tiger and two Imps on the docks at Teneriffe - the Tiger was subsecuently driven by Peter Harper to a win in the '4th GP', I can't remember who drove the Group 5 car, but I drove the 'Rallye' (Group 2?) and had a ball! After I wanted to buy the 'Rallye', but Alan Fraser would have none of it - he wanted me to have the Group 5, and so it was. I ran it in several races in Teneriffe and Gran Canary, and took it to Madrid and ran Jarama, tho DNF'd with a broken half-shaft. My wife took it to Jarama later, but also DNF'd, blown head gasket. Have a few photos if anyone is interested. |

My name is Howard McAlpine and I’m a London based professional photographer. I wish to photograph a Mini as part of a personal project for my portfolio and am hoping you may be able to help me source a suitable vehicle. Visually the car needs to be in very tired cosmetic condition and clearly in need of restoration and some love, but still drivable as we need to get it to the shoot location. The car is to be photographed stationary in a central London street location. I am willing to cover all expenses incurred by the cars owner and I will present them with a high quality archival print of the finished image featuring their car at a size of their choice up to A3. Looking forward to hearing from you. Still hold the Imp with great regard, and now in my 50's, would really like to own another. They are, however, extremely rare in South Africa! |
