The Posies are my favorite band of all time, YES before The Beatles, The Who etc... THEY ARE MY FAVORITE BAND OF ALL TIME....They have influenced my personal and musical life, I have met Jon and Ken at shows (though they probably wont remember me) and found them to be fun lovin', good ,cool people...all around nice normal guys. They were robbed of "stardom" like many of thier peers..they turned me on to Big Star and then became a part of it!!... their music will stand the test of time...you'll see....I've been a fan since failure..It has been a pleasure to watch and listen to thier music continually evolve over the years...I LOVE THE POSIES

Saw these guys in Cambridge, England, supporting Teenage Fanclub in 1993. I was 14 years old and got Ken's shoe in my mouth when he took a dive into the crowd. I've been a fan ever since, but have never had another opportunity to see any other gig.
It sucks how little this band have been promoted.

Only 99 Cents!
Be the first to buy a song off of Jon Auer’s solo record Songs from the year of our Demise! Go here and it will tell you how to purchase SONG NOIR! The link is www.pattern25.com/buysongs.shtml You can play the song up to three times for FREE. On the fourth play, Weed asks if you want to buy it. If you choose to buy the track, you will need the Weed software (which you can get for FREE). Each song is 99 cents. How Does Weed Work? Weed is a new technology that allows PC users to buy and share music. (Unfortunately, it doesn't yet work on Macs.) How does it work? Right-click on one of the song titles listed on the Buy Songs page, and select "Save As.." to save the file to your hard drive. PAY NOTHING. You may play the file up to three times for free to decide if you like it. On the fourth play you will be asked by Weed to buy the track. If you choose to buy the track, Weed will walk you through a brief software setup, which will happen only once. Weed even gives you a $5 credit towards buying your first files, and 50% of every sale goes directly to the artist! Guilt free music! Once you have bought the file, burn it to a CD, put it in your portable music player, whatever you like. It's yours. Weed will even pay you to share the music.

What's Goin' Ahn in the life of J.A. Hey there, folks Just thought I'd drop a note from Memphis, TN, the birth place of Big Star. I'm currently ensconced in the studio with Alex Chilton, Jody Stevens, and my band mate Ken trying to create the new Big Star record for the Rykodisc label. Things are going better than I might have expected. Of course, I really didn't expect anything or know what to expect, so I guess that's not a real surprise. We have actually managed to get a few things written and we've all managed to pitch in when it comes to the writing. Hallelujah! This Thursday we fly to Austin, TX for this year's SXSW festivities...what a coup for Posies, Big Star and related! I personally will be playing on a least five different occasions either solo or with one of the groups I just mentioned. I was also going to try and get a little sleep.........yeah, right. Oh well. Speaking of solo stuff, My fabled full length release, "Songs From The Year Of Our Demise" is now slated for a September unveiling..........no BS, swear!(I can hear you all now..."Sure, Jon, sure!") I was really busting my buttocks and running myself into the ground trying to finish it in time to get it out in June, but it just didn't work out. I might have actually finished the gosh darn thang but I've got all these other commitments to honor....by the end of April, the new Posies and the new Big Star records will both be done and I'll be able to get back to work. Personally, I'm glad it's taken as long as it has as most of the material is closer to brand spanking new and definitely some of the best stuff I've ever created if I do say so myself(Stanley Kubrick-like timetable notwithstanding!) These things can take time......so thanks for waiting and your wait will be rewarded....:-) Last but certainly not the least, I would like to thank all of you who have supported m'lady Michelle Price and I when it comes to this whole wedding contest we are a part of! If you voted, we sure do appreciate it! If you haven't voted yet, believe me when I say it's not too late! You'll find all the info you'll need along with this...Feel free to pass it along to as many people as you think might be willing to help our cause. Votes all need to be in by the 19th of Mar, so there's not a whole heck of a lot of time left. Pass it on....pass it on.....pass it on!!!!!!!! and thank you in advance...! http://www.king5.com/eveningmagazine/woyd/2004/ Log in- see the video- vote for us!! Anyhoo, life is busy and pretty darn good. I'm looking forward to getting back to Seattle and getting my record done but in the meantime this here Big Star thing will have to do. I'm sure you all can sympathize.... Cheers from me, J

Jon Auer and Michelle Price are finalists in the Evening Magazine Wedding of Your Dreams Contest!!
http://www.king5.com/eveningmagazine/woyd/2004/ Voting starts March 12th!!! ------------------------------------------------------------ As you have probably already heard Michelle and I are one of the four finalists in the Evening Magazine Wedding of your dreams contest. (Out of nearly 400 entries!) If we win, we will get a $20K all expense paid wedding in July at the Space Needle and a honeymoon to some exotic place. This is very exciting for us, but the only way for us to win is if you vote! Next week is when our interview airs. They have narrowed it down to March 9th and March 11th, the voting starts on the 12th. So all you Seattle folks keep your eyes glued to Evening Magazine next week! I can't believe it is coming so soon! I sure hope we win. Be sure to vote at the web site even if you are not in Seattle! As long as you have internet access you are allowed to vote!! You just have to sign up for an account at King 5 which is free and easy. When you go to this link it will actually direct you initially to a King5 site that looks like it has nothing to do with the wedding show. You click on the area to the right that says: Sign-up to become a registered user You give them your info and once you are all signed up, it will add a cookie to your computer so you won't have to log in again. If you have more than one person/account at home that you would like to vote from, just delete the cookie and go through the process again. I have been a member of King 5 for a few years and have never once been spammed because of it, so don't worry. I think they just like to make sure no one cheats. Remember: If you don't vote we can't win! Here is the web site you will vote from: http://www.king5.com/eveningmagazine/woyd/2004/ The four semi-finalists will be featured on KING 5's Evening Magazine March 9th and March 11th from 7-7:30 p.m. Come back here to vote for the couple you think should win the Wedding of their Dreams! Next week they should have photos of us up and they will have Real Player versions of our interviews just after they air. Please pass this on to anyone you know that will vote! Remember, you do not have to live in Seattle to vote! Add links on your web sites, tell all of your friends and families to vote. After researching the historical trends of this contest we know we need to get at least 1000 votes to win! Thanks for your support! Love~ Jon and Michelle PS- if you have any questions or have any trouble getting set up on King 5 please feel free to drop us a line! michelle.j.price@att.net or jon_auer@att.net

I see Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow are both scheduled to play at the South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin this March (see www.sxsw.com). At one point the Posies were scheduled as well, but that listing recently disappeared. Hopefully, they're just ironing out a schedule detail. Jon and Ken, if you're somehow reading this, I'm definitely looking forward to your solo shows, but I'd love to see a joint performance as well, I hope it works out!

Hello everyone.
Jon and I thought it was time to get a little update out on what is going on these days, there are so many exciting things happening! This is for sure a year of much growth and love! It seems on the band front, the talented miss Mitchell has already covered all of the bases so I am just going to repost here what she sent out to the D23 list earlier today! Thanks Babs! On the home front Jon and I have some exciting news. We are finalists in a wedding of your dreams contest! We are in the top four out of nearly 400 entries. The contest was based on the most romantic love story, and we have quite the tale! There will be online voting in March and if we win, a local television station is going to pay for our $20K wedding of our dreams! We are of course very excited! You will also be able to view the video of our show when the voting starts. I will update here when we have links for the voting, so check back around mid-march for more details... Now on to the Rock info! From the desk of Barbara M: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- howdy - and happy '04! this should prove to be a pretty action-packed year for all things posies-related. first off, the band signed to ryko and are currently holed up in the studio for the first round of recording. they managed to write and record the music for 10 songs in the first 10 days - which is pretty amazing. the songs themselves are also great. definitely an evolution! the line-up's the same it's been recently - jon, ken, darius and matt harris on bass. if the mood in the studio is any indication, i think you can expect this incarnation to last for a long, long time. those of you who live in seattle can catch a preview of some of the new material when the band plays the opening night of neumo's on thursday, february 26. the album should be finished by the end of april with plans for a fall release. ken's in the final stages of mastering his second solo album, which will come out here in the states in july on yep roc. i'll keep you posted on other territories as they're confirmed. jon and ken are joining alex chilton and jody stephens in the studio in march and april to begin work on a new big star album. that, too, will come out on ryko sometime in the not-too-distant future. as for the legendary jon auer solo album, word is that he'll have it finished by the end of this month. i'll keep you posted on progress - i'm sure it will be well worth the wait! oh - one final show announcement. jon and ken are going to be playing the sunset tavern here in seattle on friday, march 26. it's an early happy hour show (7-9 pm) and likely to be one of the last chances to catch ken in quite some time, since he's heading to his new digs in paris at the beginning of may. solo sets by both and some posie-action at the end. i'll keep you posted on tours, release dates, etc. as they're confirmed! all the best, b Barbara Mitchell Deluxxe Media & Management Roslyn Recordings www.roslynrecordings.com

Here is alittle Posies related New years Eve News we would like to share with you as posted on the D23 list earlier today:
Well last night was the greatest most romantic New Years Eve ever! Jon and I went to Con Works to ring in the New Years watching The Long Winters (one of my favorite Seattle bands) playing a show. Close to the end of their set I turned to say something to Jon and he had disappeared. I saw him walking up on stage. I thought he was going to play a song with them (Which is pretty common here in Seattle, people from other bands are always getting up on stage for a song or two.) I was a bit surprised because I usually know when he is going to do that, but he had not said a word. He goes up to the microphone and they introduce him. That is when Jon says, “Actually I am not going to do a song I have more of a question I need to ask and there is only one person who can answer this question.” He tells the audience that they need to clear a little path. They all part and I am standing at the end of the path. He asks me to come up on stage. This is when I started to get wise to his plan. I was so nervous! My hands were shaking and my knees were knocking. I got up to the stage and he got down on one knee and pulled out a really beautiful diamond and tanzanite ring set in white gold. He said, “Michelle Jo Ann Price, will you marry me?” I said “Oh my gosh yes!!” Then he stood up and put the ring on my finger. Our hands were both shaking so much, and then he gave me a big old hug and kiss and everyone cheered. It was midnight about 20 minutes later. What a perfect way to start a new year! It was the best proposal ever. It was the kind of thing that little girls daydream about but never really imagine could happen. It could not have been more perfect. We told Darian this morning. She gave me a big hug and said, “Yay! Now I am going to have a real daddy!” It was very touching. We could not be happier. Happy New Year! xom

Hello all! I hope you all had a wonderful Pavo/Turkey day! Jon and I had a big, old fashioned, family Thanksgiving. The food was as great as the company!
I just wanted to send a little update on what has been going on these days. As some of you may or may not know, Jon was hired to add his many talents to a project in Nashville. The project is William Shatner's new record. Ben Folds is heading up the project. Matt Chamberlin, Henry Rollins and Joe Jackson are among the people who are also working on this project. He is having a great time! Every time we talk he sounds very inspired and alive. I think he is truly in his element! Here is what he had to say about it: ------------------------------------ Things are going great here in Nashville...kind of surreal. I met William Shatner yesterday and we've already cut a couple of tracks. I'm doing everything from acoustic gtr to some background vocals and whatnot. I swear, the studio is the size of a small aircraft hanger and is full of cool people and great gear. Gibson gtrs loaned me/us three gtrs..a 335, an SG, and a crazy Epiphone with P90s and a Bigsby. I must admit it's great to be working in a place of this quality and with musicians of this caliber... Shatner is cool. Very fun and so full of life and curiosity that it's hard to believe he is 72. He is fascinated with all the technology we employ and was intrigued by the dozen or so foot pedals I have in front of me when I'm playing electric. His lust for life really is an inspiration. Something to aspire to in the later years of living....I'd like to follow an example such as his.>>> ----------------------------- I will be joining him there next week and I will be sure to keep you all posted on the when and where this record is coming out and any other fun facts. He said he would try to journal his time there, but he has been awfully busy, so who knows. If he does we will be sure to post them. Happy Holidays to you! Hopefully I will have more to update you with soon! xo Michelle & Jon

Anyone heard anything about when Jon's solo album - 'songs from the year of our demise' - is going to come out? Last summer i read that it would come out this fall, but so far no news on the pattern 25 site. I'm excited to hear what will be on it.
