| Comments: | I was a Buffalo Belle from 1958 until 1960. Such a wonderful experience! It was hard giving up our old uniforms and Mr. Mac for the new uniforms and Mr. Burgess. We also had a female director/choreographer for the first time, but I don't recall her name.We marched and danced with batons, hula hoops and chairs even! High kicks were only hip high, but our contagions were awesome! I remember performing in freezing wind and sloshing mud. Heavy rain is all that kept us off the field, and that was for protection of the band instruments. I wouldn't trade a minute of it!! Those were the best times. |

| Comments: | I was googling my name (as I often elected to do to check out what I'm doing, did, done, potential stalkers, etc :)) and discovered that I had kidnapped someone calling me their big sister. Whoa! was my first thought. I then noticed French High School Buffalo Belles in the tagline and thought...whooooooooa. Belles was a very interesting time in my life. I wish that I could say all of my memories were warm and fuzzy. I wish that it loved me as much as I loved it. That being said, I do and will always think on that time as some of the best years of my life. Spent with girls who elevated that experience: Okay, shot out to Ms.Dacola, Lori Gilley (like none other. Luv ya still), Tammy, Tammy, Tammy (Gordy), Ms. Denise, Rachel Bergeron, Donna Kay, and Pam Segura(Yes, Ma'am). Now, I've done it. I've started mentioning names and a sea of faces now overcome me. Nevertheless, It's good to call them and see some familiar names (Wendy James)as well. I hope you all are well. I'll end this the same as it was for us during those candlelight ceremonies for graduating seniors being told the story of a future to distant to seem conceivable. It would be a painful story of how something so meaningful could someday become just a distant memory. I suppose, until today, that is what it had become for me. My memories were reduced to a scrapbook made by Bonnie Boyd's mom and once it was destroyed nothing remained by the tales of circumstances that brought us all together long ago. | Comments: | Hello to all Belles from the class of 1970!!! Being a Belle was one of the highlights of my life. I had blisters on both heels from the intense tryouts. But it was worth it when I heard my name called! I was a Lieutenant my senior year. We had a great group of officers who went to camp at Sam Houston State and learned some fabulous routines. We did our hat routine to the song Cabaret. I still have my buffalo nickel, too!!! Yes, those were the days my friend. |

| Comments: | I was the very last Belle Captain... 1985-86 - and what an honor it was! That's me squatting on the ground in the last Belle photo. And yes, we still performed with buffalo nickels in our boots to the very last performance. Every girl also had a buffalo nickel with a hole in it and on the shoelace of her left oxford worn to pep rallies and school. The seniors also still had the gold buffalo pins on our vests that I noticed in some of these very old photos - and we still sang the songs. Juno Bishop (a former Belle herself) was our sponsor and made sure we kept up all the traditions. Good times! |

| Comments: | I still have great memories of Buffalo Belles! Tryouts were so harrowing, but I had great teachers: Marsha Gammage, Sue Waldrop to name two. Had a great big sis, Cindy Bryan! I'll never forget the time Vickie Jennings and I got in trouble for talking at practice and had to do fan kicks for punishment! hahaha!! We even had fun with that! We could have done that for hours. Those were the days. So many great memories...performing at the Astrodome at the Oilers game was right up there! Class of '74 was an awesome class. |

| Comments: | I will always love the Buffalo Belles. I became a Belle in 1983 which I was a Freshman and was a Jr. in 1986 when the Belles last performed. I loved it when we went to camp in Dallas at SMU. What hard work it was but we all did very well to look good on the field. My Best time was when we went to the playoffs & danced in the ASTRODOME 5 times and then went to TEXAS STADIUM for the CHAMPIONSHIP! What a BLAST we had. I'll never forget those times. I'm in the last two pictures for 1986 & 1985. I'm sitted on the front row second from left (the black girl). Wendy James was Captain & in the other picture above I am standing in the back towards the right. Amy Owens was Captain. Do any of you all hear from Ms Juno Bishop? I would like to say hi to my Big Belle Sister Uregina Gilder who kidnapped me one night from home while I was sleeping in my candy cane stripped pajamas & dressed me up with pigtails & a loud green colored miniskirt with rollers in my head to wear to school the next day. (this was the new Belle Initiation!). Also, Hi to my Lil Belle Sister, Pamela Braxton who I had the pleasure to kidnap and dress her up kind of like a Baby Girl Buckwheat. | Comments: | I loved being a Belle. I was very excited when I made the team in 1983 as a Freshman. I began to perform at football games in my sophmore year. I loved going to camp in Dallas at SMU. What hard work it was. The BEST time was when we went to the playoffs & performed at the ASTRODOME 5 TIMES and then when to the state CHAMPIONSHIP in Dallas-Arlington, Tx and danced in the TEXAS STADIUM!!! We had a BLAST!!! I was a JR. in 1986 when French High closed. Such a sad time but I'll always remember the Belles. I'm in the last two pictures of the Belle Group Photo. I'm sitting on front row 2nd from left (the black girl) in the last class 1986 picture when Wendy James was our Captain; the one above this picture I was in the back standing up towards the right. I still have my bars, Buffalo nickel and believe it or not, I still have our Friday dress that we wore to school on Fridays for pep rally day. Our group is still very close and I cherish all of them to this day. |

| Comments: | I was a Belle '56-'58. Wilbur McCollough was the band and Belle director. He wanted us to twirl batons and do flag routines as well as dance. He changed his mind after a few disasterous routines. Our high kicks were waist high...big difference from drill teams today. We also were responsible for getting our uniforms made because the school did not provide them. We had to wear Revlon Orange lipstick. I have wonderful memories of the bus trips to football games, and I still laugh when I think about the time I threw my baton behind me, turned around and picked it up, then worried the rest of the routine about what Mr. Mac was going to do to me when I got off the field. |

| Comments: | "Once a Belle always a Belle" I came from James Bowie Jr High in the school year starting 1969, as a Sophomore, with us came the 9th grade from James Bowie Jr. High. When try outs came about, I had made it. I was very excited. The Belles stood at approx. 28, add the new Belles, raised the number to approx 62 Buffalo Belles. I may be off on the number by a few but not much. We were so excited to learn the new routines and to receive our uniforms, hats, boots and cuffs. Including our Buffalo Nickle we wore taped in our boot. We ran out of uniforms and some of us had to wait to have ours hand made to fit us. I made my own zip up bubble practice outfit to wear during practice during the blazing heat twice a day and when school started I made the dress we wore to school on Fridays for Pep Rally. Those were the best times in my life. Thank You for starting the Dreambook, Buffalo Bells. I loved my friends I made during those years, and I miss them one and all.
