Comments:Oh Johnny, Thank Goodness your alive. You didn't say if you wanted me to come a look for you in my plane, does this mean that I don't get my little friesian filly? After all I was all gased up and ready to fly waiting for a response from you, that should be worth someting. Maybe not a nugget, but a little dust would do. I am so happy that you are safe and sound, and back on dry land. While you was gone I bought you a little stud colt, so hurry home to see him, I will give him to you for lets say 100 pounds of gold.

Comments:Does it show that much that I spent a couple of years in the Army? I never skydived for the Army, I just do it in the civilian world. I couldn't actually see breaking someone's knee caps but in the US it would be much easier to take someone to court for misrepresenting a horse. However Outback, your right, Friesian people are of high quality. At least the ones I've delt with are.

Comments:MeeOhhMyy what a trip that was I finally was able to get off that floating block of ice but it took a while. I ran out of signal flares the first week lucky I had enough food and water to hold me out. Was thinking hard about eating Buffy my lead dog but was able to catch a few fish to tide us over. I never did get rescued by anyone I tied a climbing rope to Rex the base dog and he was able to swim to the other side. I am sure glad I brought 4 ropes with me on this trip because after tieing them all together there was just enough to span the gap. I staked my end into the ice and Rex held the other end tight enough to allow me to cross over and stake the other end. I had to work fast because the ice was streching the rope hard. It took three weeks to get the dogs and all equipment moved. I am sure glad I did not have to haul over a horse. Getting him up out of the water on the other side would have been a real challenge.

Comments:Marsha, you are a very tuff cookie. I bet you enjoy the leg breaking stuff. Sounds like you have a little military in you with the parachute jumping and that hard line attitude. I too would not want someone to sell me a friesian that was not what I expected. That is a bad way to do business and it would stir up a lot of dust down here. But mostly those who deal in friesians are good mates because a FHANA friesian is not an easy horse to come by and those who own them are of a higher class.
Friday, June 15th 2001 - 01:07:11 AM
Name: Imports
Comments:So far in our dealing with Imports, you can get a video of the horse you are wanting to buy. During all of our incounters with people who have friesians from overseas have mostly went there to see them first and then made arraingments to have them shipped. I do not know of a single person that has been stiffed in an Import deal, all has gotten the horse they chose. I do reserve the feelings that if a horse is a good one then why have it sent out of the country. There has been times that I do know of, that the horse purchased was not as it was claimed, so Buyer Beware. There are a lot of good friesian importers, check with FHANA to select the one that will best represent you.

Comments:I saw a web site that said it could import a non-registered Friesian gelding for about $3000. Seems a little scarry to me. The only way I would import would be if I saw the horse first and put it on the plane. It's one thing to have an out off state farm send me a horse, I could drive there and break some knee caps if they didn't actually send the horse (no worries Lloyd and Joanne) but it's entirely different to go across the ocean to do it. Besides, I'm not really thrilled with the idea of a foreign prison ;)

Comments:I knew of friends that purchased friesains from the Netherlands. It is kind of scary doing that though. Having to put up a lot of money with out a guarentee of delivery, health exam, insurance, and the stress of waiting. The horse has to stay in the Netherlands for two weeks in guarintine and another two weeks here in the US. If it is a Stallion then it is longer to wait. Then you go to Kentucky or New York to get them. It used to cost $6,000 in shipping and guarintine alone a few years back. Heck for that price I will buy one here thank you.

Comments:I come back from a few days of skydiving only to find this place in chaos. Johnny's still on that ice flow, Bynke's in the hospital, I have no idea how poor little Dahgo or Joanne is taking this, half of the Ster Friesians are up for sale and a new mare is moving in. That's it, I'm headed back to the dropzone, let me know when it's safe to land or when my baby is ready to be shipped whichever comes first.

Comments:I was adrift one time long ago in a Hot Air Balloon. Me and three others drifted about 350 miles before returning to earth. We were up about 2500 feet or so and it was very scary. I will not do it again because I felt so helpless and worried that the balloon was going to pop at any given moment. I guess it is the same with you Johnny worring if the ice is going to melt from under you. But if you want to live in the wild or fly like a bird then there are risks that have to be taken. I do hope that you find your gold and get the horse you are looking for. Check back in when you get back to land so I can hear about your experiences.

If she is not bred I bet Joanne has plans to do that right away. If you want a foal out of a model by your choice stallion it would be of great interest to let Joanne know about it now. Both are health, sound and guarenteed to be all the friesian you can have. Both look as if they will be the slimmer type which will make nice riders, and also have the power to be a driver to cart or buggy. Just stop in and look around, we just might have the friesian that you are looking for. If any of them catch your eye then call us and we will work with you to hook you up with your choice.

Comments:First of all Johnny you have to wonder if you are worth rescuing, or maybe your on a Vanity trip around the world. I gusss if you just float along above the arctic cirle the ice cube you are on will eventually bump into another block of ice that you can hop onto. If you jump from one block to another the temp will start getting colder as you approach winter and will all freeze over and you can get off then.

Comments:I was afloat on a air mattress one time ago. Went to the ocean climbed on my mattress with a drink or 2 or 3 or how many and paddled out so the waves would push me back to shore. It was a dark and peaceful night and as I layed there I dosed off to sleep. When I awoke I realized I was nowhere near land, could not see land, did not even know which direction to head. By that time the morning had arrived and the waves took me out to sea instead of back to land. So Johnny, happy sailing, see ya when you arrive here. A boat will happen by and rescue you, there was one out there for me. It just took a bit for them to find me.

Comments:i had decided to to head for the mountains to get some more
gold now that the spring is coming on and the weather is
causing most of the ice to melt. So I hooked tripodes to 4
of my best dogs to help carry supplies. We had to cross the
Arctic circle before hitting the mountain range, but at
some time the ice had broken free from the main land and
started to drift out to sea. Now I can either swim to the
other side, or stay here and maybe get rescued. I was going
to start a warning fire from the tripodes the dogs were
pulling, but i don't want this block of ice to melt away
before a ship finds me. I have already send out an S.O.S.
signal so it should not be long before help arrives.
Congradulations Marsha for getting Dahgo.

Comments:Computers may be the new way of life, Horses are the old
way. Having troubles working the computer to purchase a
horse is like trying to combine the new with the old. The
old way of the horse is much more difficult for me even
though they have been around thousands of years longer. I
only have 10 years of experience in both the new and the
old, and I had to purchase my little frisian the old
fashion way. Money, letter, stamp, & mailman. Whoa!!!

Comments:Aaah, don't listen to them Marsha. You by far have made a
really good choice by choosing Dahgo. There is not many
colts out of a Model in this world because there is not
many Models out there. If Ster Friesians has one that is
great for them because I sure would like to own one myself.
Dahgo is undoubtably a well bred colt because I would not
believe that they would breed a Model to nothing but the
best Stallion alive. Get Dahgo, train him good and stand
with him in the Blue Ribbon circle with lots of pride.

Comments:I just read that no one has claimed Dahgo yet. That a
deposit and contract was not established. I then wrote
about claiming him. If you would make up your mind please
then I can get on with my life. I was going to use Dahgo as
a stud for cross breeding and register him with the
American Friesian Association. If that will be ok with you.

Comments:Congradulations Marsha a colt out of a model is a lot
better than a filly out of a ster anyday. You know we both
can have our dreams come true, you take honeybee's filly
and I take the colt and someday we will breed them
together. Think about that, no sense in buying a colt if
you are not going to keep it. It would be a real shame to
geld a possible stallion. I can use a stallion, you can use
a filly it makes good sense to make to right choice now.

Comments:I've been bouncing off the walls since Joanne called me
tonight. IT'S A BOY! Joanne tells me he's wonderful and I
can't wait untill they get the photos up on the website.
Now I'm going to make my deposit. I've never wanted to send
someone money this bad in my entire life. Thanks for this
opportunity, Ster Friesians. Oh by the way, his name will
be Dahgo fan Bosma (did I get the spelling right?)

Comments:Congratulations Sue on your babies. Bynke is still holding
on to hers. Lloyd thinks it's a boy. I'm hoping it's a girl
but it'll be just a loved as a boy. I just hope she dosn't
carry it 12 months.

Comments:We have our first of five foal due to arrive this year and
she is a beautiful filly out of a Melle ster mare and the
Dutch stallion Tenuis. What a treat foals are. She
arrived at 1:00 in the morning and after imprinting her and
waiting until she was up and nursing we finally went to bed
about 4:00. It's all worth it though. We have another foal
due any day out of a Nickolas mare and the Dutch stallion
Gradus. In early June our Barteld mare will have a foal
out of Ouke. In early July our Jurgen ster mare will have
a foal out of the Dutch stallion Monte and finally in
September our Meier mare will have an Ouke foal. We will
have to make two trip to get them all to the keuring in
September! Good luck to those of you waiting on your
special foals.

Comments:Hey i get nosey all the time myself, i just wish that more
nosey people would at least stop and say Hi. there was some
nosey ones that would complain about their friesian buying
experiences, but i do hope each and every one has a warm
heart towards each other and towards this wonderful breed.
Summer is coming to Alaska, the ice finally broke and some
of the snow is gone. it was 40 degrees today, sure was too
hot to go outside. my igloo is melting now, the roof caved
in during the night and put the camp fire out. got ice all
in the living area. i just hope it does not rain until i
cane get a tarp over the hole.

my hose in the form of Joanne's phone call. I told her
she's the only person who's phone call in the niddle of the
night I welcome.

Comments:Well I hope checking in every day or so does not make me
too "nosey" but I like to keep up to date on what is going
on in the underground world of the Frisian. Who am I?
Well, I am a woman from the great Pacific Northwest who
wants a Frisian baby so bad it hurts. I am hoping to get
the next baby out of Zwaan at Ster Frisian farm. Joanne is
working on getting her bred to a great stallion for me. It
is going to be so very long to wait for it but this foal
will be getting all the love in the world from me and I am
even starting to take side saddle riding lessons to truly
be able to enjoy this baby when it comes of age by riding
some serious Classical Dressage. I think you all are
wonderful and boy Johnny, living in Alaska sounds
great...it is tempting to head up there and see those
Northern lights some day! I promise as soon as I get my
baby I will share every great moment with all of you and I
hope to gain the same from checking in here and
being "nosey" every once in awhile... :)
