Loved your site. The first time I ever saw Maynard Ferguson, you were playing in the band. 1972? Bridgeport, CT. Forever in my memory. Also, loved your rendition of Maynard's solo in "The Mark of Jazz". Great tribute.

I was watching your Tower of Power Ensemble video that I discovered while looking at some TOP videos, very impressive. I first saw TOP in 1969 in Columbus at Ohio State and have been a fan ever since. Nice job.
Also, one of my favorite players, and albums, Arturo Sandoval, Hot House. And another favorite of mine, Buddy Rich, the live album Big Swing Face. Great stuff!

Hi Wayne. You probably won't remember me. Trumpet student at Berklee from 1978 to 1979. Was a student of yours. I am from New York City, from puertorican parents. Been in PR for the past 40 years. Still playing latin with all the top latin artist. Music educator ,Lead trumpet and solo work. Berklee was quite an experience that really made me go foward in my love for the horn . And thanks for great teachers like yourself , Lou Mucci, Wes Hensel and John La Porta your incrdible encouragement really paid of. Keep up the good work and the dream a live.

My highest regards Wayne! Awesome awesome tone sir! Im a comback player at 47 LOL but have the tone back at least. I was 1st Chair in the Okla state band back in high school 30 something years ago! Joined the USAF and did my 20 and wish I would have gotten into the band instead of leaving the music thing behind. God has given me the desire again though and the talent so Im back at it. Maynard has allways been my hero too and it was while in that high school jazz band that a friend let me borrow his album. Before that I was all Doc and was like Maynard who?? Not after that! LOL Have you heard (and I guess you have) Dan McMillion from here in Florida? His hero was Maynard and he plays just like him and they do all the same material on his 4 cd's. If you ever want to give out any advice for better tone or high register Im here to listen! Many thanks again for a great site and songs to hear, my highest compliments on your playing, and bless you and yours, Rick

35 years ago Wayne - You inspired me as a kid, opened up my eyes to the music that I love, and I have never forgotten all the time you spent trying to get me to learn to read - never mind play! You were very instrumental to me and I'll never forget that. Unofrtunately I went on a different career path in life however I always watch for your name, still listen to your albums with Buddy and Maynard, and am thrilled that you have become a star. You were never a conceited jerk, always a great guy and someone who inspired me as a kid to become successful in life because of the discipline that you taught me. When I am in Boston again, I hope to be able to see you play
