| Comments: | The updated pictures of Bearwood are quite spectacular and bring a flood of memories. Very nice site and easy to navigate around which is always good. I have just read the book "All Brave Sailors" after seeing some info on it on the official Bearwood website. Having ordered it from Barnes and Noble, I was anxious to start reading it and frankly couldn't put it down. The only book which I had read which sparked so much interest prior to that was probably the DeVinci Code. This is a spectacular read and I look forward to sometime meeting Ted Milburn, an OR whose family is featured in the book and who was responsible for returning a piece of British History back to London. | Comments: | I was at Bexhill in the last year it was open and then transferred to the Royal Wansted from 1958 to 1960. At Bearwood for the last year of the girls - and remember many of them - Carol Rose, Elaine Wynne-Ellis,Liz Hook, Avril Swain, Carol Fitzsimmons etc. Hawkins House led by Housemaster Gough at the time with Jimmy Hann too. First year dorm with matrons Brown, Pirie, Martesheimer and Fit! Played Toad in Phoebe Fox's production of 'Toad of Toad Hall'and later Algernon in 'Importance of Being Earnest. Went through the ice on frozen lake in 63! Colts then First XV (64/65)with Brian Blyth, Tommy Thomas, Paul Rigden, Nigel Colling,Maj King et al. Mates with Bobby Green, JA Mitchell, Pud Goodman,Bob Berrett - best mate Nick Westcott from 4th year on (before he was expelled!)we're still in touch and he came to my wedding a year ago! On stage at infamous school concert when Paddy stopped the show (a too early example of alternative comedy!)Junior House Prefect (in the old San) with Matron Judy Slack and Housemaster Jimmy Hann and Housemother Mrs Hann (nee Pirie).Anyone remember Jane Fulcher?
